My problem with the fire starters the past couple gens is that it almost seems like Gamefreak tried to outdo themselves in creating something "badass" - a trait many people associate with the fire starters. Infernape and Emboar especially had so many tacked on design elements that made them just look busy and try hard. The swirly belt on Emboar completely ruins it's design. I think that mentality is also why they decided, for some reason, to stick with Fire/Fighting for 3 gens in a row. If you look at the grass starters on the other hand, they remain rather consistent in terms of design, and not a single one of them looks clunky.

I like how Delphox broke the cycle and took the design a step down a notch though. However it still heavily missed the mark on the potential for Fennekin. GameFreak still seems unable to fully leave their comfort zone when it comes to fire starters.

What? Of course they look natural. They're based on animals, bugs, plants, and the like. Just because an element of fantasy is thrown in doesn't mean they instantly become alien and obscure. There's a reason people get upset with Pokemon based off gears, magnets, candles, swords, and so on: they've lost the natural appeal.

If Braixen and Delphox were quadruped, they would most likely be Ninetales 2.0, so I am really glad they are bipeds.

This makes no sense. Are you saying this just because they're both foxes? Plenty--plenty--of Pokemon from completely different lines and generations share the same species type and still hold their own unique and separate design.
