Bagon pretty early is rad. Actually seems like a decent mix of old Pokemon to switch up your team.

New pokes are a bit lacking though, wonder if Gamefreak put many of the unrevealed pokemon way further into the game in anticipation of the game leaking?

I like having a lot of old Pokémon in the game and just a few new ones. I don't want to see the older ones being forgotten/left behind every time they create newer ones. :3

Then we just end up having the problem where the newer ones don't get a proper spotlight in their own damn gen.

Actually, it means the opposite. Since they'll be readily available, there's less of a need for those games to be remade.

One could easily argue it makes it less likely as a lack of availability in X and Y would necessitate a new game more.

It's a great thing we get gen1 starters early in the game because the new ones (minus maybe the frog one) are terrible so far.
