I mean.

Well, after that huge Pokedex posting by /vp/ er, here's a pieced-together version of the Central dex, in spoilers this time.
Thats 25 new pokes out of 150 granted there are some missing pieces but still....
Wasn't the "only 70 new Pokemon" leak from the same dude that leaked Greninja and Hawlucha? And he also said there is barely any post-game content?

I mean we all understand Gamefreak's official motto is "Two steps forward, one step back suckers!" so I'm not sure why I would be surprised. It just seems like those rumors (especially the only 70 new pokemon one) have more credence now that nothing has come out disproving them so far.
Its starting to seem more likely however it couldve been anyone that posted that 70 new pokemon thing as the guy who posted Greninja was being impersonated a lot since there was another person impersonating him saying there were 150 new pokemon.

guys...there are already like 700 pokemon.

70 isn't that unreasonable considering this is the jump to 3D and all the other stuff added.

Hey I love Feraligatr too. :P

Tail fire. As in the line's choice. :P
Since I'm quoting this post anyone, I should chime in that my love for Feraligatr is massive, partially because of his LeafGreen dex entry:

"When it bites with its massive and powerful jaws, it shakes its head and savagely tears up its victim."

Like ARE YOU KIDDING ME with that shit. So damn boss. Also I really hope GameFreak gives all new flavor text to past 'mons instead of cheaping out and copy/pasting the Dex entries from Black/White. That would make me forgive the relatively small number of new Pokemon. More fuel for the fire of my imagination in regards to interesting insights into each creature is what I'm after.

And WHAT, pray-tell, is wrong with Charizard's tail fire? Charmander had tail fire! That has been a consistent element of his design since the beginning. Sure, I'll grant you that Charizard should be Fire/Dragon instead of Fire/Flying, but I'm not sure why the tail fire seems random to you.

I was talking about how Froakie's bubbles make more sense in its design :P

Under normal circumstances I would agree with you.

But when that leak first came out I was SO damn impressed with the Gen VI designs that I wanted as many new ones as physically possible for GameFreak to pump out.

After Delphox, Chesnaught, and Binacle though... uh... well, y'know.

*tumbleweed blows by*

*in a different multiverse a more hardcore Pokefan version of me shoots self*

*whistles nonchalantly*

At least Greninja is cool!

So I guess I'm gonna have Greninja, Charizard and Blaziken. I usually go with Fire starters, but screw Delphox. Which is a shame, because Fennekin is literally my favorite non-evolved starter. Was REEEEAAAALLLYYY hoping for something closer to a Ninetails.

Well, maybe the reason you're so pleased with them is that they weeded out more than may have done in the past.

Wel it's not finished just yet - wonder how much is shared between 'em if the Coastal one starts with
Drifblim
...

If it's none, and each dex has around 150 each, and the makeup of each is at least 25% new Pokemon, then that would lead to around 112 new Pokemon :)

To be honest, the fact that we have this many, before even the 3rd gym, is sort of insane.

But really, it's gonna take a while to complete these regional dexes...

Always wondered why they didnt make a Fire/Water mon with scald and like, shit like that

MAKE A KETTLE

GAMEFREAK YOU HAVE A WEEK

THERE IS TIME

I always imagined a Fire/Water 'Mon as some sort of intangible steam creature.

Sort of like, (please don't kill me for this,) Jouki Boy from Naruto turned out to be.

That's... actually a fantastic point.

I just can't believe though that in a game where freaking Tyrantum exists, we have Chesnaught and Delphox. Hyperbole and insane starter team loyalties aside, can most of us at least agree that Tyrantum is so much more badass than ANY of the three final starter evolutions (I'M SO SORRY GRENINJA)?

I can't fathom why they would give some random dinosaur Pokemon such better treatment than what they gave to the starters.

I seriously just lucked out picking #TeamFroakie waaay back in January when these games were announced. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I found all three starters to be brilliantly designed. They were by far my favorite trio of starters since Gen 1.

I freaking LOVE the witch/sorceress motif for Fennekin, and also love the knight theme for Chespin. That shit is so down my alley. But the final evolutions of those two are so dull and unimaginative compared to what they could have been. I'm usually pretty easy on Pokemon designs too, just because I love the universe so much. And I'm sure those two will grow on me over time, but it is still really hard to see it as anything other than a huge missed opportunity to be the most iconic set of starters since this entire freaking series started.

But at the same time Mega Charizard X is a thing, so how mad can I really be?
