New Sword Art Online PS Vita Exclusive Game Coming Next Year, Gets First Trailer

This looks to be the same deal as the first game. Single player dungeon crawler with an AI waifu partner. Giant bosses are part of the lore. I'm not sure why people think this is gonna be a Monster Hunter clone, to be honest. A big part of the first game was building relationship points with the waifu you bring into the dungeon. Think .hack-ish.

In any case, as much as I hate SAO, this is a pretty solid exclusive for the system. Infinity Moment sold a shocking amount of copies.

My expectations of what I would want from an SAO game are far too high for this, but if it is good it will tide me over until I plug in

Huh, surprised they aren't porting the PSP game here.

Well the trailer looks a lot more action-y but too early to really tell at this point what kind of game this will be.
Besides Asuna probably sticking to you like glue

The best part about the first one was the fact that it ditched the whole garbage second season and continued on the story with a separate branch. I think the anime should have gone the way the game did really, since dear god at the second season of the show...

Though it was a bit of a letdown that things with the game were not more epic. The auto attack system was a bit stupid too for combat.

Dunno if I want this. Looks more fun than that PSP one at least.
Not really that much on Vita. They passed on all the Vita Tales of games and the Vita version of One Piece Musou 2. :(

Anyways this looks kinda cool, is the Anime any good?
The anime's ok to me. But the light novels are better.

Watching it still isn't too bad if you don't have high expectations.

Hey guy, if the game had to be an MMO what would it be of the three:

SAO, GGO or ALfheim Online? I would probably choose ALfeim. I'm a sucker for races.

Luigi please:

[PSP] Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment - 182.697

Pretty sure that's actually the best selling PSP game of 2013, though Toukiden might be crawling up to it.

That's pretty good.

and developers slowly moving out from PSP development finally. With SAO and PSNova being vita exclusive, I can see Toukiden 2 and God Eater 3 becoming Vita exclusives as well.

I've never seen the anime so I don't know what makes it so popular, but will the game really be any good or will it just sell off of the franchise name? The trailer didn't look like anything special to me.

That would be because you have no idea what you are looking at due to not having watched the series.

SAO on the Vita? Thank god, the PSP one didn't look very good. Hopefully this will do well and inspire an SnK Vita game as well, something like that needs at least two sticks.

Doubt it'll get localized though, so hopefully it'll get a digital release and I can pop it on my second memory card at least.

I wouldn't be surprised if it came as digital only like they've done with the One Piece games. I mean this is on Toonami now if I'm not mistaken so perhaps it's picked up a bit of a bigger audience? No idea, but I've been okay with Namco and their localizations recently.

Guess what? Another jrpg on vita!
Never seen the anime, but it looks really good, almost looks like tales of xillia on ps3, maybe it uses the same engine(both are namco right?)

If its not done by the same team, the chances of it using the same engine is slim.

That would be the hope, might depend on how good the numbers are on Toonami.

I hated the 2nd arc of this show but I want to pick this up. Added to the import list.

It was weak at first and felt it got better towards the end. Oh, and dat Suguha.

I see. It feels more like it should play like an action game rather than a mmo. .hack felt like it should be played as mmo.

The game is about an mmo, where most of the defining killing blows were dealt by special attacks. As which is basically how the psp one plays. The general auto-attacks is just bonus damage, but its more about managing your special ability gauge and what buffs you have on yourself and use to debuff the enemy. Which goes back to what I said about it being designed to be like an mmo with the combat system. Which it does perfectly fine granted its based off of the older style of mmo combat, its still done well enough.

There were bigger problems with the game that made it appear more as a budget title than the combat system.

The one thing the title had going for it was the fact the story went on a totally different path from the mid point of the series after
Heathcliff (Kayaba Akihiko) was defeated
which is why a lot of people were interested in playing it.

Looks they're reusing the assets/animations/sounds from the PSP's Infinity moment game and uprezing it. This gonna take 2 years to make it? lol

I hate the SAO IP so I don't really care but this reminds me that .hack basically died last-gen. GU was really good, the last game especially, a .hack this gen with basic online features would have been legendary. The PSP game was cool too, too bad it never made it either.

It won't be localized, Namco Bandai has seemingly abandoned the Vita outside of Japan. We didn't get either Tales game, or the Vita version of Kaizkoku Musou 2.

They're bringing over Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z on Vita, but it's a download exclusive in North America.

I dunno, but with the show actually making it onto Toonami I could see it having a more decent chance to get localized now.

The show is on Toonami, don't see why it wouldn't be localized.

Was kind of hoping for an actual MMO based on the world, for PS4, compatible with the rumored VR gear.
