So if they continue to follow the Yggdasil myth, we are bound to get a squirrel based legendary right? Maybe that will be the Mew clone of this gen.

Also what about the ram? It's in this picture anyway

Can someone please explain to me the appeal of Clawitzer and Dragalge? They both look pretty ugly IMO..

Arm cannon and a poisonous dragon. They're not supposed to look good, but they look awesome.

Yep. Everyone's speculating that the cute legendary this gen is Ratatosk.

Honorable mentions: Gen 3.. just.. all of em, lol
Gotta say, I really like the designs of Gen 6, I was severely disappointed in Gen 4, and in B/W I was just overwhelmed by so many new ones, I didn't care for it. Gen 6 hittin that sweet spot.

p.s. tyranitar, cuz I had a shiny japanese card of it when I was a kid that made me feel like a badass

That would be cool.

I wish Zygarde was a little more majestic looking though. Maybe it will get an alternate form.

For Clawitzer, Its name is awesome and I like the twist it takes on evolution. Instead of the whole body getting bigger, the dominant claw from the first form turns into a big fucking Howitzer that looks like the main body at first glance. I love it.

Oh well, while we're at it.

Gen 1: Charizard
Gen 2: Scizor
Gen 3: Grovyle
Gen 4: Toxicroak
Gen 5: Based Chandelure
Gen 6: Tyrantrum I think

Gen 1: Haunter
Gen 2: Lugia
Gen 3: Sharpedo
Gen 4: Probopass (that stache)
Gen 5: Chandelure
Gen 6: not sure yet til I play, maybe Phantump or Trevenant

If Ice wasn't nerfed and her stats were better, Froslass would also be great. Most of the the evo designs were solid, except maybe Magmortar. But I've warmed up to him.

So are there any unique transformation Pokemon we know of yet? Kinda like Darmanitan and Castform.

Aegislash can switch between a Defense Mode and Attack Mode it seems.

Gourgeist has a "Small Form" and "Large Form" it seems, we've only seen the Small Form, no clue how to get the other or if it's different.

Vivillion changes patterns somehow, there are three apparently based on Dex Sprites.

Clawitzer has a HUGE ARM CANNON

Seriously, the cannon claw looks like a dragon's head (complete with antennae). That alone puts him over the top, but having a name like Clawitzer and an ability that goes with it is incredible. He's one of the most creative and well executed pokemon I've ever seen.

What's odd is that, based on the name, Zygarde is Jormungandr, the Midgard Serpent, famous for killing Thor in a double KO. Most people thought the third legendary would be based on Nidhogg, the dragon that gnaws on the roots of Yggdrasil. The squirrel is Ratatosk, a messenger that scurries up and down the tree between the eagle and Nidhogg.

Here's a 17th century drawing depicting the eagle, the four stags, the squirrel, and nidhogg.

For some reason the stags look like squirrels and the squirrel looks like a green unicorn dragon.

Has Smogon figured out the approximate base stats of Diggersby, Pyroar, Furfrou, and Heliolisk yet? I'm curious to know if any of the new Normal-type Pokémon are going to be competitively viable or not... I'm a Normal-type Gym Leader for my StreetPass group's Pokémon League, lol. I've already lost one of my Pokémon from my Generation V team (Togekiss...lost to the Fairy-type :( lol).

Gen 1: Charizard
Gen 2: Shuckle
Gen 3: Sceptile
Gen 4: TORTERRA
Gen 5: Chandelure
Gen 6: Trevenant

For Gen 6 I'd choose Mega Charizard X over everything else though, but I don't think it counts.

Aegislash sounds amazing. I think I'm almost willing to look into designing a team around Pokemon/moves that change mid-battle. I love those. It was a novelty, but Weather Ball Roserade was always a blast to have around on my Sunny Day team.

Also I might switch from Froakie to Chespin. Dark type is my favorite type, but Chesnaught looks way better than Greninja and I like picking the unpopular starter. That and I haven't had a grass starter since Ru/Sa.

Chespin/Squirtle/Honedge will be the core of my team. Basically building around picking Squirtle because he is one of my favorites.

Then it will be whatever I find I guess. Gen 3 and Gen 4 I'd catch something I needed and just train it up. Never really had a set team until the Elite 4. Maybe I'll do that again here.
