I like to go around with Scyther and Scizor usually, but that's not very practical. They've been my favorite pokemon forever.
Sycther is awesome and has been a favourite of mine for a long time. I wish he was getting a mega instead but if they can make Scizor's look better then I'm all for it.

Pyroar is awesome. I gotz yo back.

*Dap

If Growlithe/Arcanine sn't in the game naturally, then I hope Pyroar gets their weird kinda high base stat total.

On a side note, I know Gyrados's mega is owned by an npc but what of gyradosite isn't in the game? :(

I've got my team planned out just fine.

I assume you'll pronounce that RRRRRRRRRRRRREE-KOH-SHAY

The head makes it obviously a snake.

I think it's just the scaling that makes it look stumpy. You're not going to get wailord in its proper scale either.

My Intended Team:

Pokemon - Nickname

Chesnaught - Gilgamesh
Pyroar (Female) - Ororo
Aegislash - Sigurdancile
Aurorus - Tora
Goodra - Lockheed
Venusaur - Kulra Rex (The only original name. Was my first Bulbasaur's name)

Whoa, what type(s) is Zygarde? It looks awesome! If it's a poison legendary I will flip my shit.

Edit : Oops, nevermind. Dragon / Ground is an odd typing for its design...?

My team with NICKNAMES!

Delphox - Bandora

Clawitzer - Commander Crayfish. ( will shorten to C.Crayfish if i have to)

Flogres - Glycina

Aegislash - Power Sword (Generic but a nice call back to PR)

Hawlucha - Peckster

Goodra - Hedorah

Mix of all the fandoms I am in haha.

This is seriously one of my favorite gens ever in terms of design.

Do we have a list of all the old pokemon that are catchable? I'M mostly interested in Gen V-mons, as I completely skipped B/W/2.

From reading this thread, my team is gonna be:

Chesnaught (mainly because I don't want to go with 3 water types)
Blastoise
Lapras
Tyrantrum
Talonflame
Something fairy type (not sure yet)

See, I felt like I was going crazy because I feel the exact same way, but I had a couple co-workers (with at least one who hasn't played since GSC) who think that approach would be bad for the games since it has a "power gamer's focus" and "puts the multiplayer above the single player". The argument is that having redundant and/or weak is important because it makes the Pokémon world feel more realistic/immersive, rewards players for being discerning and making correct choices when building a party, and encourages swapping out early game Pokémon for later game Pokémon. Apparently, I just don't appreciate the "experience" and focus too much on "power gaming".

Of course, I fundamentally disagreed, and there was somewhat of a heated argument (trivial, I know). Considering we could be considered a game development team and nobody else there disagreed with their position, I felt like I was losing my mind.

But yeah, venting over. Needless to say I agree.

Truth be told, your co-workers are pretty much on the ball. A lot if what they described are pretty standard modern game design principles. This is not to say you necessarily have to agree with their viewpoint but Gamefreak does have to look at things from a larger perspective than you do. You sound like the type of person who would hop on Smogon to find out the best strategies and team builds, etc. That's a fine way to play the game and it certainly is encouraged by the tournament circuit that the Pokemon Company runs but it isn't the only way to play the game and like most games, I feel safe in assuming that competitive battlers make up the vast minority.

"Then there's no incentive to catch new Pokémon. Why would I want to catch later Pokémon if my early Pokémon are just as good? Your focus on power-gaming is to the detriment of the single player experience."

Which is a weird position to have when your favorite games include stuff like Skyrim and you're obsessed with choice and player agency, but whatever. I just like seeking validation outside work since I simply don't agree with their design philosophies and don't get to substantially contribute to major design decisions.
I like how their argument is that your opinion leads to power-gaming, when the only reason they want it to stay the way it is is because it makes them feel like they're power-gaming.

IMHO, the incentive to catch and raise new Pokemon should be because you either like their design or something about the way they play. Especially in the campaign.

Yeah that's my team too, but for now I'll keep Kalos only

So is Sylveon a clingy type? What if it sees you with someone else?
