Pokemon X and Y Leaks, Releases Early

Absol is one of my favorite Hoenn Pokemon after the Ralts line. And Abomasnow would probably be more popular if it weren't for the 4x weakness to fire.

It's more the fact that it's also weak to: Rock, Fighting, Flying, Steel, Bug and Poison. It has one of the worst typings out there.

...no wonder it got a Mega Evolution. Too bad that its ability is still the same; it could have gotten a new ability that would have given it more resistance to types that are effective against it.

Speaking of bad typing, which mixture of types results in the most weaknesses?

It feels weird having to wait for any revelation after last two gens were datamined to hell and back at their release (hell, we knew the entire line-up of Gen V before it's official release).

As far as the regions go, I don't know what to think. I'm very nostalgic towards Hoenn, but at the same time I remember absolutely loathing the region for the entirety of Gen III's duration. I... quite like Hoenn, but I'm completely aware that I'm completely clouded by nostalgia as I probably played Gen III more than any other else (and I started with RB as a 9-year-old in 2000!).

I think I can easily say though that Hoenn's cities > everything else > Hoenn outside of cities.

Cities were interesting, but the routes were borderline miserable. The amount of water made me miss Geodude and Zubat thanks to the obnoxious onslaught of Tentacools EVERYWHERE. At least Geodudes and Zubats were confined to caves. These damned jellyfishes? They'd follow you everywhere.

It's Mega has 30 base Speed so it'll get demolished before it can even get a move off. Might be the only Mega in NU if Mega's are allowed at all.

EDIT: Nevermind, Snow Warning is the only thing keeping it in UU.

Pretty sure Mega Tyranitar is an instantwin. Sort of like the Exodia thing in Yugioh was. You bring it out once on the field and bam you are the Pokemon Champion.

A harem of gym leaders will travel with you through the regions with the MS.Anne and please you sexually

edit: yeah top of the page, suck it.

I laughed too hard at this, damn near fell out of my chair

The mega evolutions seem silly to me. They're only a Super-Saiayn form in battle, am I correct? Why not spread more evos like they did in D/P/Pt? :(

- Pinsir
- Mr Mime
- Jynx
- Farfetch'd
- Qwilfish
- Octillery

let them evolve gamefreak =(

Yeah, Tyranitar (and a fair few others) didn't need a Mega Evolution. Can you imagine the fan reaction if they introduced this concept and only gave it to Pokemon like Mawile, Absomasnow and Absol though? People would be bashing GF for not giving it to the popular ones.

They are giving it to Pokemon that need it, as well as the fan favourites. I don't see anything wrong with that. It seems like Mega Mawile will be just as powerful as Mega Garchomp...so the balancing still works.

I mean where's the pic?

Umm, can you support this claim? Because I've not been able to find base stats for either.

that looks like some sort of unholy fusion of Tyrannitar, Glalie, and Latios

I never noticed how similar Pupitar's casing and Tyrannitar's armor were. That's pretty cool. I figured Pupitar's casing was like a cocoon, like with some of the bug Pokemon, and not the early form of Tyrannitar's armor, growing outward.

Actually Sugimori cleans them all up, they probably look far worse than what we see finalized. The reason I say that you can tell, its mostly post college students designing is because there are basic concepts clearly there, and then barely anything afterwards.

Some design foundations are textures, shapes, color, contrast. But it seems like some of the designs barely meet these guidelines. They surely stick to shapes but they typically dont go beyond them. Low on inspiration? Add more texture, more color even to the monster detriment.

Its almost like seems factory based, in fact I just did a quick reference check and they basically do a ton of designs possibly with no serious sit down on each Pokemon like they should. After they churn out a bunch of mons they just hand them off to a senior director who determines what gets saved for later, added or scraped. I think that strategy is horrible. But its just too late, even on Mario's worst day he still sells because he's Mario. Pokemon is in the same state.

Designers truly have different eyes than a basic consumer. Im glad to work in the field but I just felt like Infanue and moved towards coding where I didn't have to make stuff I thought looked like crap, but the client loved.
Sugimori does the final render to unify the style, which would be necessary in any situation where more than one artist works on them. That changes nothing I said. What's remarkable is how these artists and designers have continued to create Pokemon that resonate with people of all ages, sparking their imaginations and fostering endearment. Each new generation is, for the most part, increasingly clever and complex without feeling overdone, and the fact they consistently manage to surprise us shows these guys are so far ahead of the game compared to any armchair critics who think their design school days give them any credentials.

That's not aimed at you in particular, just speaking to the general attitude among some in Pokemon culture that fails to see how "beauty is in the eye of the beholder." The fact that many people continue to be smitten with new Pokemon speaks to how well-done they are. I can study the lines and proportions of Xerneas and Yveltal all day and continue to be impressed by how thoughtfully assembled they are. Likewise with "simpler" designs like Goodra, where a simple swell of the silhouette conveys so much charm and power at the same time.

These designers and artists know their shit. They know what resonates with people, and they continue to pump out one unique creature after another. That's why they're a cut above the pretenders.

Mega-Evolutions are cool because they're there to be cool, not because of some functional need or balance quotas.

I think in the future we're going to look at them as a pretty dumb decision to make Pokemon a bit more extreme as the series flirts with continually ascending power levels (which often spells trouble for other media when you eventually become numb to the constant bombardment of stuff like this), but this is also a way for them to start weaving new life into their existing base of Pokemon rather than continually pumping out new designs.

Pokemon is going to be DBZ by Gen 7.

Well said. Wow.

I don't think we give enough credit to Game Freak when it comes to making games that consistently sell 10,000,000+ copies for new entry. These games' success, being systematically similar to one another, are totally based on how good or bad the designs are. I think it's safe to say they're doing just fine in the art department...

does this game have any street pass features? like lets say, battling another players pokemon controlled by ai or some neat stuff like that? i mean it sounds so perfect imo, bet it doesnt have it :(

Yes there is, you can see streetpassed trainer in the PSS (Player Search System), watch their PR video and battle them.
You can learn more about it here.
