We don't, we're assuming because Hoenn introduced the Battle Facilities.
Crystal had Battle Tower though.
well context kind of matters... is the guy who is mentioning 'his region', found inside or nearby a Kalos Battle Facility? if not, if the only thing giving people the idea of Hoenn is some dude mentioning a nameless region and a 'facility' with no context given whatsoever as to what kind of facility he's talking about... I'd chalk it under wishful thinking

Hoenn makes me groan. I understand if it's a person's first or even 2nd pokemon game, we all have some nostalgia, but those water routes killed that game for me. When I think about going through it again in a remake or whatever..uggh..
I started from the 1st gen and I don't really understand all then hate for Gen 3. Especially when stacked up against gen's 1-5 it felt so fresh in terms of region design, poke design and most everything in general.

Are you kidding me? Who hates Hoenn? That's my favorite region so far. Lots of ocean, but the most exciting. Most towns and cities there have a unique aspect about them. Pacifilog was a bit of a drag because you couldn't run, but I think it would look amazing on the 3DS.

Yeah that's a major thing. Nearly every town was unique and memorable. A lot of towns in other gens are pretty bland and forgettable.

I think Hoenn was the only region where I actually remembered all the towns by name. The vast diversity in the environments is what makes it truly the best region to explore.

And I like the water :S It added another exploration aspect with all the little islands and sandbars to find. Like Wind Waker's Great Sea on a tiny scale. Plus you have the water based cities/towns which were awesome and completely unique (seriously you have to go underwater to get into a city).

I don't remember a single name from that generation outside of the Pokemon and Crasher Wake, which is pretty awesome.

Also let's not forget the Beauty Contests

They were practically gyms themselves. The only entertaining contest minigame imo.

HOEnn is the most memorable legendary and iconic region from an equally iconic and legendary game (as well as the best Gen in the series.)

I await the teasers in this game if there are any

I started my CAREER as the Queen of Pokemon Contests there. It's just ICONIC

For me my love of Hoenn has nothing to do with nostalgia. When R/S first came out I liked the games but nowhere near as much as I did GSC. It was only years later when I decided to replay R/S that I realized how fresh the region felt in terms of it's design (pokemon and region) Gen III is now favorite after years of Gen II holding that spot.

I don't understand the affection for it, but I'll be happy for people when it happens. I had my crazy freaking out and in love moments with the gen 1 and 2 remakes so I know the feeling.

Do I even need to remind you how FOUL Gen V is in comparison??
stay presseD

Some of my favourite Pokemon come from Gen 3 (Cacnea, Cacturne, Camerupt, Flygon, Ludicolo, Grumpig, Cradily, etc), but the original sprites for many of the 3rd gen mon did them no favors.

I immediately regretted clicking on those story spoilers, but also I can't be THAT mad because this keeps on sounding like the best Pokémon game ever.

I restarted Yellow version this evening in my fervor of irrational hype for X/Y. After four consecutive hours I'm both two badges deep and bored out of my mind.

Playing such an unrefined and cumbersome game in the franchise though RIGHT BEFORE the new ones will only make the outlandish improvements the series has implemented over the years that much sweeter.

For example, in order to switch boxes you have to SAVE FOR EVERY SINGLE SWITCH and then manually scroll through a list to select which box you want. It's janky as hell.

But the nostalgia is sweet enough to keep me going for at least a couple more badges.

I don't understand how a mega for Jynx is a thing that people want. I mean.. it's just beyond my reach of understanding.

She's an Ice/Psychic-type with a distinct style all her own. She's also one of the original Pokémon, so she has a great deal of nostalgic value. To see her competitively empowered with powerful new stats and a possible new ability, and to wrap it all up in a fresh take on a familiar design, is exciting indeed. :)

But the one I'm starving to see is Mega Aggron. He looks amazing in the balloon shot -- now I want to see him in full color and detail. I want to see him in battle, and then I want to see the Sugimori art. Mega Aggron looks like a perfect evolution of the Aggron concept, exactly what you'd expect him to look like after he goes "Super Saiyan" (or in this case, "Super Shredder").

Speaking of Sugimori art, Corocoro will be leaking sometime between Friday and Monday. There'll almost certainly be art for the 3rd stage starters, Spritzee and Swirlix's evos, and maybe some more. Hopefully we get the art ASAP.

Makes me wonder if they'll eventually show the final starters art this week, along with the flavor art.

After all, they've been release news each week since September.
