Why don't you understand then?

Because I find pokemon that look like humans (and even one promoting its own psuedo-sexuality) to be eerie and off-putting. I don't understand what people like about it, but I do accept that there are people out there that like it. Much in the same vein that I don't understand why people like Greninja, but I accept that there are people that do.

I see. Personally, I like Pokémon that aren't just recolored animals (since, you know, Pokémon aren't animals), but I guess to each their own.

I don't see the difference between liking Jynx and liking Alakazam, Hypno, Mewtwo, Gallade etc btw.

I'm quite torn on what gender to make my trainer in Pokemon X/Y.
I assume you can't change this later in the game?

Is there any information on player outfits?

Nicknames for your mons?

Here's my planned Gen VI-only, rotating team.

Chesnaught - Gawain or Justine
Tyrantrum - Genghis or Kaiser
Goodra - Sluggy
Noivern - Echoes
Aegislash - Athena or Ares
Barbaracle - Brutus
Sylveon - Sam
Clawitzer - Bombard X-01
Trevenant - Arbormort
Talonflame - Archer
Heliolisk - Telsa
Hawlucha - El Tornado

I don't understand how a mega for Jynx is a thing that people want. I mean.. it's just beyond my reach of understanding.

Comedy value. Friends of mine that haven't played a pokemon game in a decade or more laugh at jynx on occasion. I can't even remember how it became an inside joke at this point...

Most people who crap on jynx don't inherently hate humanoid pokemon and just think jynx looks comically bad on its own merits.

I think it's something to do with the fact that the dress plus hair plus face give the impression that it thinks it looks human, and it's worse off for attempting to seem closer.. Bipedal humanoids that embrace being bipedal animal/monsters are generally more well-received than the most explicitly human-like. Whateveer the fuck alakazam's torso is supposed to be, it doesn't seem to be clothing.

You Gen III/Hoenn lovers are crazy. Lemme break it down:

GOOD
+ A lot of good new Pokemon, I heart Metagross
+ The volcano with the ash lightly falling was cool
+ Abilities really added a lot of the game and made Pokemon unique
+ Pokemon contests were a nice diversion

BAD
+Hoenn had too much damn water. They even made a TM where you can go UNDERWATER because there was so much of it. There were many areas that were completely accessible only by water, which was a chore. It really lacked the diversity of even Johto, and that game consisted of mostly plains.
+Removal of the clock affecting gameplay. No cool day and night cycle, no Pokemon changes depending on when you played, no special daily events.
+ Massive lack of Pokemon. I think about 200 were actually obtainable in RS, which is a bit over half of the existing Pokemon at the time. This especially sucked because there was no way to get older Pokemon into RS.
+ Extreme disparity of Pokemon types. Do you love grass and water Pokemon? Well then this is the game for you. Fire? I hope you like Torkoal.
+ Terrible rivals. You have a kid with some disease and your gender doppelganger, who never fights you with the fully evolved form of his starter. WHAT
+ Steven is so boring, minus his cool Metagross
+ Natures, while a good idea, were not explained well at all.
+ Weather effects. Actually, I think they can offer an interesting strategy, but we had to put up with two gens of A SANDSTORM RAGES every turn.

I mean I put a lot of time into my copy of Sapphire, but it is the standout weakest Pokemon game. That doesn't mean it's a bad game though, but we're talking Pokemon standards here.

Pretty much completely agree, only thing I would say is Secret Bases were also a pretty cool diversion.

Gen III introduced a lot of changes to the battling mechanics:

- Abilities
- Natures
- EV cap which meant that you need to EV train your Pokemon to achieve a certain spread of stats
- 31 IVs instead of 15
- Introduction of Choice Band

It was excellent from a battling variety point of view. A ton of Pokemon were viable and the game did not revolve around any particular strategy for long.

I kind of liked one of the rivals being a sickly kid. Was something different. Also the character's dad is a gym leader.

Those two things were memorable to me about Hoenn. Those and trumpets, Wingulls and tentacools.

+ Double Battles
+ Battle Frontier
+ Secret Bases
+ Bike puzzles
+ Trainer's Eyes/Vs. Seeker
+ 60 FPS
+ IVs Increased
+ Trumpets

Hoenn has a cemetery on a mountain and a Safari Zone unlike Johto.

FireRed/LeafGreen/Colosseum/XD

Wally has a Gardevoir which automatically makes him cool.
+ Steven is so boring, minus his cool Metagross
Steven has a more diverse team with 7 different types compared to Lance's 5 types which all involved part Flying. He also didn't have 3 of the same Pokemon on his team.
+ Natures, while a good idea, were not explained well at all.
Shininess was never explained well.
+ Weather effects. Actually, I think they can offer an interesting strategy, but we had to put up with two gens of A SANDSTORM RAGES every turn.
It is a big part of the metagame.

Am I missing anything?

I 100% agree with this.

TV Rotom confirmed?

The only bad part about Gen 3 games was the font they used for text in game.

Water routes don't bother me. It's something different. It felt like an awesome part of your adventure.

Types of pokemon available doesn't bother me. If we get remakes they will be Bank compatible so you can use what you want.

The new mechanics introduced in the game were a breath of fresh air. Being able to play the game again with all the newer stuff would be really fun.

It's always a fun time catching the Regis again. They need to have more sidequests to catch legendaries that are as fun as the Regis.

Aqua and Magma actually meant something. They were opposing forces and were pretty cool.

Weather trio were also really good. Mascot legendaries have recently been letdowns but the trio in this game were cool.

I thought Wally was one of the better story threads in Pokemon. It was cool fighting him at victory road again.

I disagree, you only meet Wally 3 time (4 if you chose to visit him at his Uncle's house) and you only battle him once which is at Mauville City after that you don't see him again until he shows up at victory road which I had to ask "who the hell are you?"

Wally was a terrible rival and his story wasn't fleshed out at all, plus I didn't like him and his wimpy depressing attitude.

I think that's a very good idea. You may even come to accept them once you play it.

I have already accepted Mega Evolution, but it doesn't mean that I will ever like them.

Whose counting them?

Game Freak clearly is as there are only 70 new Pokémon while the rest are being filled with Mega Evolution.

This. The concept was interesting though, so if they do RSE remakes I hope they flesh out Wally's story a bit and make him more of a consistent rival.

those defective medical equipment!

Like a radiation machine? That makes sense, although I think Nintendo might see that as being too risky/controversial for Pokemon, considering incidents that have occurred because of defective radiation machines, like the Goiania incident, not to mention other recent troubles related to Radiation in general like Fukushima.

I think if they were to do something related to Poison with Rotom, it would maybe be something simple like a poison bottle with crossbones, or something else simple (Although I don't think rotom can posessess non-electronic items).

I wonder what Ash's Kalo team will be, we already know 3 of his team which is Pikachu, Froakie and Fletchling.

I kinda expect him to catch Chespin as well.

Lets not turn this into Generation war shall we? also i've removed Pokemon of Generation that is not to my liking on that list.

Chespin wasn't along Froakie, Fennekin, Dedenne and etc in another promotional poster of the XY anime, so I don't think it will be caught by Ash or any of the other protagonists. To be honest, I just hope Serena (or whoever catches Fennekin) evolve it into Braixen and then, into Delphox, because Delphox > All.

Trumpets, Wingulls and Tentacools. You sure you guys wanna go back there?

You say that like trumpets are a bad thing.

I hope so too. Since the playable female character is traveling with Ash again this season, I'm fairly certain one of the starters will be her Pokemon. The only regions where he didn't get all 3 starters were Hoenn and Sinnoh, where there was a female playable character traveling with him.

That said, I think Serena will get Fennekin, and Ash will get Frokie and Chespin.... At least that's what I'm hoping.

Greninja > Everything
:p

Ash will get a Chespin eventually. It'll be obtained later in the series I'm sure. Though, it's pretty obvious he does get Froakie first, judging by the trailers. Which is awesome!
Sadly, I doubt he'll ever evolve it.
