New 3DS System Update (StreetPass Relay Feature)

so has anyone had success getting the home streetpass to work using a windows 7 machine and this guide?

What I've been trying to do is use a tethered connection to my phone as the wired connection, and then following the instructions with Virtual Router Manager, but I can't get it to work.

I did, but it was incredibly finicky. It wouldn't work at all on my netbook, but I got it to work on a laptop by using what was essentially a custom driver for the wireless card. Also, I had to click a box in the network settings on the connection to enable the different components to share connection. I think I had to share my 'real' wireless card with the wired connection.

In addition, I've been foregoing Neogaf MACs in favor of the script gui at http://gbatemp.net/threads/macycle-the-improved-mac-changer-for-homepass.353328/.

Wow, can't believe I'm the last one to post here since that Nintendo Direct happened.

Anyway, coming soon: 6 street passes per Nintendo Zone hit.

I think the new number of passes thing is live now, I just picked up 6 people at the same time from one of the relays.

This will prove to be great for the game specific SSIDs in due course (see that google docs list of the MAC addresses) as it took me a crazy amount of time to get up to 15 on Rhythm Thief.

I can also see Pokemon being coded to only store one or not work with relays at all* (wonder trading the last 6? wonder cloning more like).

*-Swapnote and some Japan only game do not work with relays, mentioned in Iwata Asks.

I'm not sure that it is live. I walked to work this morning and got a StreetPass. Just opened the 3ds and only met one person.

I'm going to walk over to the Starbucks to try a second time. brb

I've got about 4 different McDonalds in town & not ONCE ever got a StreetPass from them when driving past 2 or 3 of them. Heck, I went inside one last week & nothing. Is it live for them yet or just Starbucks & such.

You probably won't get anything from just driving past. When I go to ours and sit in the drive-thru queue, it takes a good two minutes before the light blinks. This thing is not very fast, so I think drive-bys of places won't work.

I'm looking forward to that new limit change per relay station.

It has to connect via the internet first, so you can't just quickly drive by or drive around the building, you would obviously need to go in and wait a minute or 2.

Nice. Will definitely run my script again tonight. I just discovered that you can basically get rare drops in MH3U by racking up street pass tags.

Ahh, that's explain it. Though I still wonder about when I went in last week if nobody else signed in or something. I even connected to Nintendo Zone and still nothing. & I was there for a good 10-ish minutes.

OK, it's definitely working for me.

Relay

4E:47:41:46:30:31

delivered 6 earlier today and

4E:53:50:4F:4F:44

just delivered another 6.

It does seem to take longer to work though.

(Or it might be through 4E:45:4f:47:41:46, my WRT54GL is a bit screwed up but does work)

Hmm...interesting. I'll make sure to pass by a Starbucks when I leave work. Could Nintendo be rolling this out slowly? I'm not sure how this stuff works.

It's probably more a matter of when the server started retaining more than one unit's worth of information. I doubt they went back to reactivate old data to do this, so the other 5 hits will need to be seeded first.

That makes sense... it's just a matter of Nintendo's servers archiving the past six exchanges.

Now I'd just like a 3DS firmware update to upgrade the number of Streetpass games allowed at a time. I'd like to exchange data for more than 12 at a time... for backwards compatibility, I can see why it isn't being changed, but I assume that some sort of "secondary" SP games could be allowed -- 12 primary ones, and any additional games are only exchanged during longer sessions, during Spotpass sequences, or the like.

Nice, just tried it, and it works. It did seem to take longer than normal, and then the light just flashed like it was getting 1 tag, but it was multiple at once. Yay!

Edit: went back to tag the same MAC address after 8 hours, and it looks like you can only get tags for systems that visited the relay since your last visit, which means people are still going to be lucky to get 1 tag from most Nintendo Zones, never mind 6. That's really stupid, because it basically gives me no motivation to visit infrequently used Nintendo Zones very often, and they'll just continue to be infrequently used.

I tried this last night with a script that goes through a list of MACs. For the first time I maxed out the guild card box at 36, but I don't think this is a huge change. Before I was getting 24-30. So it could have just been a favorable night.

Sorry about the bump, but can somebody help me with an WRT solution for a WR941ND v5 ?

The DD-Wrt does support this router, but they made a mess when explaining the damn thing, and it seems if i use the wrong firmware out of 2, i have 100% chance of bricking my router

Any other ways to "use a specific MAC address for WLAN" (that´s what i understand out of everything)?

Are people still running this? I don't seem to be getting as many streetpasses as I had in the past.

Is anyone with the Bravely Default demo running though the main MACs?
