Some of those SS Delta character designs look amazing. I'm probably going to hold off on doing the new missions for when I get Delta.

Get Virtue last reward frost
What is that image? It's fucking cool. And it seems to be related to our beloved SS...

PS+ gave me VLR. I have no interest in it, it's not my type of game. Also, I will never play 999 either. So by most accounts I shouldn't play VLR even if I did have interest. Maybe someday when I'm bored, but I want something with action and stuff. (Probably why I haven't sat down and played Limbo or Totori Plus yet either...)

Are we playing SS later?
I actually didn't like Malicious Rebirth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qv-pMZgHWgQ

EDIT: Buy Atomic Ninjas.
Atomic Ninjas does not look like my kind of game either. I saw the trailer and immediately dismissed it.
I *want* Malicious Rebirth, as I liked Malicious and meant to play more of it, but between the trophy hunting part of me trying for the no repairs trophy, the technical problems, and my inability to beat the Forgotten Library as my 2nd stage, I ended up moving on to something else instead. The only things stopping me from grabbing it are that I think $15 is a bit high ($10 with a $20 PS+ day 1 discount would've been instant buy pending (2)) and (2) worries that the framerate drops I saw in the PS3 version were the same or worse on Vita.

That's cool as fuck.
But since I don't plan on buying Delta unless it's also released as an expansion pack to SS for $20 or less, I regrettably won't be using that one or saving any missions until then.

Any Vitabros have any luck getting scratches out of their screens? I just picked one up used off of Craigslist and didn't notice some shallow scratches until I used it underneath the light at home. They're manageable, but it's gonna bug me now.

I was thinking of just grabbing a screen protector, specifically an InvisibleSHIELD figuring that the wet application will help to fill in the scratches a bit, but I'm hoping someone else has a better idea!

few more screens

You should be playing with us since we can barely finish any of them :(

You don't have to play 999 to understand it. You can probably read a summary on wiki, trust me frost its worth it! We can play soul sacrifice on Friday since I lost sleep from the amount of failures we had the other day.

Dragon Crown's 2D-but-not- really brawler action was annoying to me. I would always miss enemies because I was a little in front of or behind them.

That, and the story is worse, the character design is less appealing, and the loot system was worse. I enjoyed forging blades over the Diablo type loot system.

But it's mostly the gameplay that makes Muramasa better for me.

The story is better in Muramasa, I admit, since Dragon's Crown might as well not have a story at all, hahaha, but everything else is better handled in Dragon's Crown, in my opinion.

Technically it is true, however the feeling you have from playing VLR will be greatly enhanced with a 999-backed experience so much to the extent that I am can be confident to say that playing 999 is practically a requirement before VLR.

Also, I have the worst luck. Just when I added 50 bucks to my wallet to 58 and want to buy both EDF and Lone Survivor, both games have reverted back to their original non-discounted prices *sigh*

I've heard this is pretty great, though I have gone without using a protector on my Vita

They're different genres -- I think they're both pretty good for the genre they fit into, although Dragon's Crown is a candidate for my GOTY while Muramasa was good, but got a bit tedious on my way to almost platinum.

Anyone else with a PS3 able to get Shadow of the Colossus working via remote play (PS+ PSN Version) mine keeps telling me content not supported...

Did you start up SotC and get the patch that enabled remote play?
Or did you just download/install and then try remote play?

If it was the latter option, you don't have the patch. Start the game on PS3 and hopefully it will download the patch for you. It worked back when I had the physical disc... haven't tried it recently after selling the disc and downloading the digital versions as I already got the platinums for both ICO and SotC.

If that is the case, option 2, then lame since I already downloaded the digital version, why not pre patch? O well will try tomorrow sometime and let everyone know, thanks for the feedback.

Just ordered Silent Hill: Book of Memories. I passed on it when it came out and don't expect it to be great, but it was only $12 new on Amazon with Prime shipping. Now I just need retail copies of Uncharted, Wipeout, UmvsC3, DOA5 & Katamari.

Watched a twitch stream of Disgaea D2 last night... it's got me pheening to get Disgaea 4 again with the Vita release, and I really, really hope D2 gets a port too. Everything looks so sharp, crisp and tightened up in D2.

wtf I swear I was looking at it earlier today and it was only around 7 bucks

PSN never pre-patches anything. I don't think XBL does either, for that matter.
Vita at least adds the current patches to your queue when the digital game is added.
But PS3? It was an afterthought, so no.

I've actually been able to tank through quite a few of those DLC missions solo with my 90/10 build.

Through the 10* gemini missions added Tuesday?

Playing Killzone mercenary and i was constantly put on the worst team possible. So annoying, i got like 15-4 and yet we still lost. After being put on terrible teams like 5 times in a row i had to stop playing. Its the teams were losing 40-10 thats how bad it was, bots would be great to have when the teams are unbalanced with 4v3 or 4v2.

I wouldn't be surprised. I've been checkin' here and there for awhile. Think it said $5.99 in my old cart add but "item [was] no longer available from the seller you selected" and I'm pretty sure I saw it cheap a few times but with silly shipping and no Prime.

The Game is clunky in ways, sure. And it doesn't hold your hand at all; it expects you to read all the material, and actually apply it. But once you get past that... it really is one of my favorite games, for the simple fact that it's very different, but very focused in what it's offering.

People often make the equation to Megaman, but they equate it to being "Just the boss fights". I think this is a bit unfair; It's actually more like dropping Megaman, plus all the enemies, stage design, Boss, and powerups into 1 spot, and saying "Ok, now fight it all at once, in free-roam combat!"

This Vita Version offers at least 10 stages of this style of combat. Each stage has totally unique design, very separate from anything else in other stages. They're all "Arena-like" in concept, but traversal should be handled a bit different in each. A lot of the enemies are unique to each stage, making the fighting a bit more refreshing than "common mooks in each area".

== Original Story Impressions. ==

The original story forces one to become stronger and stronger as you challenge each stage. Due to this, you probably will feel a bit limited at first. "Fly and pelt with fire!" or "Get in close, and punch!" are your only starting options, you have no dash, and aerial traversal is a pain.

However, things get much better as you play on. You'll get Wing Dash, which not only lets you move fast, but also attacks the enemies you dash through, while auto-equipping the laser shot to your weak attack, for easy drive-by shooting. You get 6 jumps in the air, plus the ability to float. Floating + Shooting works very well to get a few hundred Aura in relative safety. Later weapons like the sword and lance each fill in nice attack preferences (Linear, lock-on friendly charges, and heavy, full-area slashes.) "Just-defense with guard actually rewards you with Aura as well as comboing; it's an absolute guard too, allowing you to block ANYTHING, and even side step out of block, as a defensive dash.

By the time you get to the end of the game, you feel like a complete character; This is great for Free-play, and the final boss battle, but you get the feeling that you'd have liked to START the game with such options...

== Introductory Second Story Impressions ==

...Well, now you can! You begin story 2 with all the abilities of the previous story, already accessible. These stages ramp up the difficulty since you're expected to know how to play by now, and your character starts much stronger. A lot of the Mooks are tougher, and seem to have more binding and effective attacks. The bosses move around a lot, and one of them is even a pair of fierce fighters, making blocking quite a bit more tricky.

The idea of learning and defeating each still is significant; these guys all feel like a pain to start, even with your boosted powers.

In a way, I say you can truly tell these stages were designed with Vita in mind, and with more experience than the first stories stages. The enemy numbers seem a lot more solid, but with huge areas housing pockets of resistance, rather than single areas that have one large group. It results in a game that is just as massive in scope as the PS3 original, but with less technical issues. It just seems like a much better-balanced, designed experience.

The new abilities seem to be chargeable augments to your current 4 weapons; I've only gotten one so far. I've tried out 3 of the 4 bosses, and they all remind me of "The Mad Queen" from Story 1" Dramatic in presentation, more personal rather than mechanical, and all with attacks that make you wonder "How am I suppose to BEAT that?!?" when you first meet them...

== Worth The Price? ==

It's an arcade-y game, with the presentation of a narrative-heavy one. To me, this is great, because it helps enrich the encounters. To others, this makes the surrounding concent and story feel half-baked, is if they had a lot to show, but only hint towards it.

The controls are awkward to start, and the game makes no attempt to ease you into it. You have to learn through experimentation! I find this refreshing, personally. Learn on the spot; you might fail once or twice, but it's not like this negatively affects you.

The new included costumes let you customize your playstyle some. Do you want More Aura, more Defense, of more Offense? Or to simply use the balanced abilities of the default costume? For a game that offers so many ways to play with it's content, these are a welcome bonus.

You get Stories, which lock you into 1-time-clears for each stage. Then you can play through again, to try to accomplish higher scores in a run. There's also the ability to Free-play any stage you've picked, or to Connect online for Time Attack mode, which will rank you on leaderboards.

Lastly, there's nice novelizations for the game's backstory, that help give more substance to the world you're playing in. They include a few nice pieces of art, and do a good job at enforcing the twisted epic's identity.

All in all, I think it's a pretty solid value for the price. It's production value is pretty high for the game style, the combat is fun and unique, offering new tactics and ideas to be used in each play, repetition is rewarded pretty well (I love all the unique counter animations to search for, on to of finding new ways to tackle each boss), and, like a SHUMP, the game is short enough to where an al S-Rank, No-Repair clear seems like a solid goal to go through in a sitting.

The 2nd story content seems very well designed, and adds an extra payoff to the original game. I suppose free-playing with the final character by stories end will make one feel very powerful.

It's a game devoid of fluff, yet full of action. If you find games about high-scores, enemy-reading, and perfect playthroughs to be appealing, you'll probably get the most out of this, as such games are a rare treat, or often over-bloated in this day and age.

However, if you're an hour-counter, you find lots of combat to equal "repetitive", or think any of this looks like a "Hunter Genre Ripoff!", you should probably stay quite far away!
;-)

Beat story 1 of Malicious! On to the Rebirth chapter.
The final boss was pretty easy once you learned to just-guard his attacks for aura.

Congrats:) Beat Story 1 too. :)
I originally was very stuck on the final battle on PS3, as I totally glossed over the use of the Great Equations to set up a barrier that destroys his protection....
My First Conquer of the new story was the boss of The Great Rift; His minions are really easy to kill while WING speeding, the stage has a great path to run along with the bridges, and the boss doesn't pursue too aggressively.

The Blue-and-Gold Girls, though; Oy. Their Troops are so strong! Think I should try someone else for a 2nd...

I'm buying an extra in case the screen scratches get to me.

ok. im hitting my last straw. i think im on one of these last levels of rayman origins....

the one where youre chasing hte wizard, and you just hold right and jump. and lots of metal pieces are falling.. you have to hop between them all.

i musta replayed this level like 50-100 times. giving me a headache. so frustratingly cheap!

i cant get that last jump to the vertical pipe with the red exploding thing...

how much more of the game is there ( living dead world aside)

edit - fucking christ i did it finally. no idea what i did differently than the other 1000 times

I don't think them announcing the release date for the HD collection is going to save their asses from the announcement that they made earlier today

My wife got me this for my birthday today. I turn 40 on the 29th but she let me have it early.

I am a hard core DS/3DS guy so I don't really know quite yet how I feel about it yet. I just got it all set up, made a PSN account and redeemed my PS+ code. I am really excited to play Dragon's Crown because I love the old school side scrolling brawlers (Mystara, King of Dragons etc) and want to also grab Guacamelee and even Walking Dead. She wants to play Injustice as well even though she has it on the Wii U.

I already have such huge backlog on my DS/3DS and am pretty much out of console gaming at this point, but I love handhelds. I'm feeling a bit of buyers remorse at the moment though and the overpriced memory cards aren't helping especially since the included 4GB one is practically worthless. The whole interface and the hardware itself is wonderful.

She paid $169 so it was a hell of a deal nonetheless. hehe Anyhoo...I'll have to snag a PSN card because I want to get in on that Dragon's Crown sale.

So how does this PS+ stuff work? Weekly updates? I didn't miss the free Hotline Miami did I?

edit: no Hotline Miami hasn't been given out yet.

Muramasa I didn't really care for on Wii originally and Killzone Mercenary? I'm pretty burnt out on military 3rd person shooters unfortunately.

Soul Sacrifice however looks very interesting and I definitely want to check out the demo.

Holy fuck, that second mission (Minotaur + Elven Queen) is ridiculous. Then again, having a random drop shortly into the fight without causing damage doesn't really help. :\
Back to E-D-F! E-D-F! for the night!

Congrats. You got an amazing deal there, that bundle is already a great value for $199 and most people can't find it anymore.

With PS+ you have to go to the store weekly and "buy" everything that is available for free. If you do that then that content will be available to you any time you're a PS+ subscriber. If you don't have a PS3 use the web store to secure that content as well.

Thanks :)

Killzone is first person and soul sacrifice has a demo so you can check it out, too bad the online portion is lock out because the game released(which is the best part).

You should as try Disgaea 3(Crazy SRPG), Virtue last reward, Need for Speed. Also the smaller titles on PSM like life of Pixel and Rymdkaspsel.

And your first PS + game should be Gravity Rush.

I fixed my Youtube app problem. I just signed out, tried to sign back in and it prompted me to choose which account to use. I chose my actual youtube account and now it works. Hooray

Sudoku? Number puzzles?
Not sure if intentional.

If not, I think you meant seppuku, though I could be wrong.

Anyway, I think a large number of people don't use one and it's okay? I don't and my rear touchpad is fine.

Sudoku is a "Stream Monster"-ish / meme-y way of saying "Seppuku". It actually happens a lot...
