Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

"After a little while, Danny's patience runs out: He abandons the solitaire and yanks out his PlayStation Vita to rock with some FIFA '14."

Let me get this straight - he has an album called Old so they get him to do a load of "old people" stuff and write it up. Wow, maybe music journalism isn't so far ahead of videogames journalism!

Though given the age demographic of your typical Vita user, maybe it counts as old people stuff ;-) Never seen a kid with one yet.

Got my Hori grip for the Vita. Instantly makes Killzone 10x more playable. I see what some of the reviews meant about the sliding grips, though. It's not too big of an issue, but I'll use it a bit more and see if I need to mod it or not.

According to a Jump flying get, Freedom Wars will be playable at Jump Festa (Dec 21~22). That's still two months away but did we even get any actual gameplay video yet?

Why am I getting this feeling that it won't be a good game...? ~__~

If I was 15 years old I would be really, really sad over my mistake :'(

(Im using Armorsuit)

EDIT: Fixed

Daaaaaamn... I would be mad as hell, the little sticker with the serial number? came off a few weeks ago it, totally bummed me, imagine what it would do to have something like that happening... *shudders*

Both stickers on my Vita came off ages ago. Weak glue. :(

The Narrator DLC isn't available for EU yet.

What am I looking at?

You're looking at a person that just gave a Vita a waxing, and it hurts to see it will never recover.

My purpose was to replace this area the image shows of armorsuit protection with a new one since the old one become detached at some edges.

EDIT: Fixed

Armorsuit? Is it like some kind of screenprotector that covers the entire handheld? Why do you even need that? You peel off the old Armorsuit and it fucks up the unit? Why is that?
I seriously have no idea what this is and why it's needed lol. I just use the OG screenprotector from Sony. That's good enough for me.

Wait, did it remove a layer of plastic from the Vita?

Haven't been using my Vita for gaming during the last week because I have too much work to do. I just use it to stream videos in bed before falling asleep. I've never owned a tablet or decent phone to do this before. It's quite convenient, and not as battery draining as I thought it would be. Glad that Sony managed to get video to work in browser. I know it's been patched in for a while now, but I've never bothered with it before.

That really sucks. Didn't know that could happen. It would definitely make me sad at first but it can be easily hidden with a skin.

I love how SCEE is discounting all titles from the Playstation Heroes brand except Gravity Rush's DLCs, the only stuff I would have bought from the lot.

I know i'll sound heretic, but i'm enjoying valhalla knights 2 more than dragon's dogma dark arisen lol.
All this talking about valhalla knights these days made me want to redownload vk2 and continue my old game.
After understanding that the change of job is a good necessary thing i'm enjoying it, too bad for the travels that are starting to annoy me.

Dragon's dogma is the real disappointment though, it made everything right, but for some reason i don't like it, even here there are annoying travels with the difference that in vk2 encounters are easily avoidable while in dd those stupid allies don't follow me as they should(i call them) so i can't run without returning back or leaving my allies dying...

I have to say that vk2 is more complex than what people imagine, other than all the standard rpg things(classes, stats, abilities, races, loots, lots of enemies, visible equipments etc) it has these features:

-each character can have up to three classes at time and they can be changed, one is the main, the needed experience to level up and the bonuses he gets depend on main class, the other two let the character use their already learned abilities.

-each character has behavior points, you can decide how a character actions in combat should be equilibrated between combat, heal, using objects, magic attacks, magic effects and another one, for example 4 points on magic attacks and 1 on heal means that the character will focus on magic attacks and sometimes he will heal.

-you can set your formation of 6 character on a 3x3 grid

-on map enemies have different field of view, some has long cones other shorts, some wide other small etc, you can avoid their encounter avoiding their view, you can even crouch.

-if you approach an enemy(and vice versa) side or back enemies(or you) get a damage at the beginning of the fight, attacking on the back makes more damage obviously.

What it really annoy me are the travels, think of monster hunter, it has an almost open world made of connected small maps(another good point of the game is that there are no loadings), but this world is long, not wide, so to go on a place you could have to go through all the others and back, and you can take only a quest at time!

Vk2 battle stance has teleports, i bet it's 1000x more enjoyable, i'm waiting for vk3 :)

Playing ICO with remote play is an incredible experience, good image quality (playing with +1 image quality) and framerate (with only a few frame skips here and there) . It is perfectably playable and way better than when I played SOTN (PSX) on the PSP years ago.

naspocket media player for nasne released.

Fair call. Will stick with Malicious.

The Power Grab isn't really overpowered (easily countered with shurikens) and the bots flying aren't too bad (although I will admit it would be better to have human players). It really is the most fun with people to play with, but still perfectly fine to get by itself.

I have gone through the hassle and deleted games just so I can redownload Uncharted: Golden Abyss and import its savegame to Uncharted: Fight for Fortune but it doesn't seem to work at all.
I guess those lightnings on the card with 0/1 indicate whether I get a bonus or not?

Do I have to do anything other than using the save import app in the LiveArea of Fight for Fortune? I know that the counter in Golden Abyss is buggy so those 100 headshot etc. boni may not work but even the treasures, artifacts and trophy boni didn't unlock.

I enjoy the card game but this save game import is getting on my nerves because the boni are great and I want to use them.

The Shurikens hardly do damage which means it is only really useful in Capture the Flag and Treasure Hunter, and the punch only works from up close. The power grab lets you hit enemy from a far with quite a bit of power while doing the same from close range. It is also the ultimate defense as you can stop both punches and shurikens with it. The bots flying are annoying me because it means they can recover from places where a player couldn't and they are more agressive in their playstyle than most players I have played with. I do like the fact I can 'fake' remote play by making an online match with a player sitting in the same room as me using the Vita, but that leads to one of the technical issues. I have trouble joining matches before 21h. It just keeps connecting while not doing anything despite being able to make matches and get players to connect.

Your main problem is that you really can't hit anything with shurikens. Hit more than once and you'll do just fine. The punch is a ton more useful if you take the Super Punch perk, it can knock people clean across the map. The Power Grab is only useful up close because any half intelligent player will make moves to dodge any boxes thrown at them (including the ability to punch them out of the air, or claw dive into them if necessary).

They're great for target practice with those shurikens though! But seriously, the bots work quite well because they force to you learn strategy around actually following through with a possible kill instead of just swinging wildly and hoping for the best. A lot of the players I've found online are pretty damn aggressive in their own right.

Before 21h? That sounds more like a problem with your internet connection than the game.

It's more a case of me and multiplayer not mixing these days on account of time, so having a multiplayer game feels like its going to waste!

Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate your videos, mate. They're fantastic!

Good thing about Atomic Ninjas is that you can make five minute games that are still just as fun as the 10/15 minute ones.

That's good. Funnily enough, last multiplayer I got into was the somewhat similar The Showdown Effect on PC.

Still, might leave it to the experts. Hope the devs do well out of it.

Just to clarify, I don't think the game is bad, but I don't think it is a must-buy. I'm guessing it is around a 7,5.

If your strategy with the boxes is good enough, it is quite difficult to avoid them, unless you're a force grab player yourself in which case you can just pick up a flying one. Even repeated hits by the Shuriken don't hit you back as much as one box. I found the shuriken to be most useful to enemies that were already falling/jumping. And yes, punches are quite powerful. That is what you'd hope for. Punches should be stronger than shurikens because of the proximity aspect, but force grab just takes the best of punch and shurikens. I do love how the trials make you experiment with all the weapons and strategies like the punching a box to kill a player.

Personally, if I have more trouble with bots than with human players, I consider them overpowered. Their strategy is predictable, but they have habits of saving themselves that you just can't work around that much.

Before 21h? That sounds more like a problem with your internet connection than the game.
That would be strange because it is the first game where I ever had the problem. And as I said, people can connect to me, but when I connect to a match via the PS3 it doesn't work.

Good strategy needs to be countered with good strategy then. :P It's weird how you're having problems with shurikens though. Maybe use the shuriken perk and see if you can get some practice in?

I honestly read that as "If I can't beat it I have a problem with it". Again, it's all about following through with your kills.

Are you signed into both trying to play the same game at once? It might be an infastructure issue.

Different accounts on both Vita and PS3, I haven't tried getting both Vita and PS3 in the game using my main account at the same time. (So now my second account is like #200 on the leaderboard)

Malicious Rebirth is pretty nice. The textures seem to be less detailed but the game seems to be native res and it's nice to be able play it on a portable.

Yeah I have been doing this it plays fine for me, +1 image and a couple ticks higher brightness in the game options then on PS3 and it's good.

This picture is interesting (from the 4gamer article)

The color reproduction isn't that far off (considering same re), only with the light blue and green that shows the disavantages of the LCD screen (a little washed out).

But there is ghosting on that Killzone gif, that scared the shit out of me. #teamOLED for life.

It doesn't look that bad at all... the longevity will make up for all the cons of OLED. I don't see anything wrong with the LCD at all.

Anyway, let's hope that FFX/X-2 HD sells really well, so SE can continue their support towards Vita... maybe even get all these remakes anounced on iOS/Android... maybe... :(

Post it here, please.

PCH-2000 on top, OG bottom.

There is considerable ghosting on the screen of the LCD screen (see that the afterimage is stuck at least 3 frames later). The LCD have a faster refresh rate, though,
.

The Vita 2000's lcd screen look even worse than what I thought. pretty damn sad espercislly that Sony now have Triluminos (Xperia Ultra/Z1) which are pretty damn good yet Vita 2000 got a completely shitty lcd screen with permanent piss-filter.

I just bought a PS+ subscription and I'm downloading my free games already!
Is there a way to check which monthly games are free and which games are on sale for PS+ members? Ideally through the PS store app.
I noticed that Hotline Miami is free this month, but when I search it up in the store it's still $10? Am I doing something wrong?
I feel like the world of the Vita has been opened up more than it has already.

Plus is truly a wonderful service!

I'm in Europe so it might not be exactly the same, but the Plus section should be the top option when opening the Store on the Vita. I don't think it has the various discounts though, the easiest way to keep tap on those might be reading the Playstation blog.

As for Hotline Miami I believe you have to wait till next week.

They reveal all the PS+ content for the month at the start of the month but its still actually released piece by piece every week.

So Hotline Miami will either be on the 15/22/29th.

At least thats the case in the US.

So, if FFX/X-2 HD sells really well, we'll have the FFVII remake that is coming to iOS in less than 2 years, right?

A KH Collection or FFXII HD for PS3/4/Vita will be sweet too. If I were Sony I would have "convince" Square for 1.5. KH is a very loved franchise in both West and Japan and will be a pretty good adition if they want to market it like a child handheld.
__

I'm seriously in love with P4G. I don't know, but this game has a bro feeling that somewhat P3 lacked. They are a bunch of friends first and act a lot more like normal teenagers. I wouldn't say if it's better or worse, but it really has a different feeling.

And, definitely, i'm in #TeamChie. That girl is just so lively and fun, even with a mediocre voice actress.

Nice going for FFX/X-2, especially the Vita versions, with both the Twin pack and the Vita bundle near the top of the list.

Even better if you consider it is not just a Vita list, but the overall gaming category.
