Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

I'm in!

I've enjoyed what little bit i've played of it so far. I think I have the PS3 version via PS plus so I'm thinking I'll have a good long learning session on that. Be interesting to see how it compares on a big screen too.... BUT its Dragon's Crown day tomorrow :D (if my local GAME have it in stock)

Ah Goodluck! Really enjoyed it and definitely playing again with another character. I couldn't wait for it and imported earlier on but still haven't got to try the mp yet, back in a week to get some games in. Also to enjoy kz properly, only just got to test it with some interrupted matches.

Anyway, couldn't find that Carl post, sounds disheartening though :p

(can't put this below, top of the page edit, - malicious rebirth is fun)

Going to hunt for some new luftrausers news or something to watch.

What's wrong with the store on Vita? Twice today I've tried to download something and it was stuck on the download message. When I cancelled out it was stuck on a darker screen both times and I had to shut the Vita off and restart. I've never had this problem before.

It's been happening to quite a few of us. It really sucks but we'll have to wait for a fix.

We've already had three firmware updates without a fix, so I'm not very hopeful.

Hopefully it's fixed in time for Vita TV

Just picked up Dragon's Crown today, first big vita title I've purchased. Would love to get into mp with people once I get further in. My psn is QuasarJones. Looking forward to digging into it.

My first big Vita title as well! Just got the system yesterday. I snagged Dragon's Crown tonight at GameStop for $27.99 preowned plus I had a $5 coupon to boot. $22.99...Missing the manual but still cheaper than the digital sale. :D Also grabbed Walking Dead for $19.99 preowned which is the same price as digital. Takes the wear off the measly 4GB memory card and also gives me a physical copy to boot.

My PSN is Wompratz if you want to add me, maybe we can play MP sometime down the road.

Yes and that's why it sucks that the vita revision no longer uses oled...

With lcd you need to choose:
TN: awful viewing angle, poor motion resolution (response time), poor contrast, poor colors, ghosting, color banding in 6 bit panels and possible backlight bleed and the screen brightness is often not uniform especially on larger panels (darker in the middle with led backlight)

IPS : decent viewing angle, very poor motion resolution, poor contrast, good colors, ghosting, color banding in low end 6 bit panels

Viewing angle is fucking useless.

Just in case, the vast majority of Vita retail games don't have physical manuals. All games come with a digital manual though, which you can access from each game's LiveArea.

I just started playing it too. I'd love to play multiplayer with you once we get to that point. My PSN is Co1onel-225, so you know its me if I send you a friend request.

Still debating if I should go digital for Vita games.

On one hand I kinda like having physical stuff, and the prices are usually the same. On the other hand I have a 32GB card, which I was gonna use for PSP/PS1. Not having to bother carrying a case full of games is nice too. I feel pretty split. I like having both physical and the convenience of digital, though I dislike how retail copies are pretty much empty.

I play PC games but I'm split on it too. I buy whichever version is cheaper unless there's a good bonus on release day (eg real wallpapers). I just wish they worked like Steamworks where retail copies also get you digital. :(

Okay guys. Help. I want to buy Malicious so, I download the PS+ version for the PS3 I got a while back. I played it back then and hated it. Now, I play it now, and I merely don't like it. But, I WANT this game on my Vita for some reason and I don't know why. I love the art and I like the graphics and I like the idea of the gameplay. But, it's just bad. It's sooooo bad, it's dull and boring and there's no strategy and the rounds take forever. What am I doing wrong? Why is this game fun? Something is either wrong with me, or everyone else. And one is more likely than the other.

Carrying around Vita games is a freaking hassle. The boxes are too big and the Game Cartridge case is a hassle and a liability. And almost all games are noticeably cheaper digitally. And really, what's the point of a portable if you can't have all your games on you at the same time? Then again, I have like 7 retail games, so my quota of "I bought these retail so you can see how many games I have" is completely filled. I am likely to do the same with the PS4.

hmm after messing around with the SAMOLED on my Galaxy Note 3, I am somewhat convinced I should use a dark/black background on my Vita for maximum battery life (lol.. although the Vita already has an insanely good battery life)

Wow, I just unlocked (MALICIOUS REBIRTH ABILITY SPOILERS)
the Malicious form
and it is just badass. It changes
most of your attacks to resemble attacks from the Malicious boss, including the giant ball of death it fires.
EDIT: Image of carnage for those curious.
Sooogoood.jpg

Also, if anyone is still curious, Malicious definitely has framerate issues. Nothing game breaking, but the game did seem to slow down more frequently during my playthough of the Rebirth chapter. Overall, the framerate was solid enough that I didn't have issues controlling the Vessel.

Do you kill the grunts with aura attacks to chain them, then use the Lv3 aura charge? Do you use weapon switch combos when attacking the bosses? Do you hold L to boost your attack during your Lv3 charge? Doing the above has helped battles go way faster for me.

Choosing the right boss helps too:
-Lance counters Queen.
-Sword counters Fist Golem.
-Wings counter Shield Golem.
-I think fists counter the winged knight dude but I haven't tried yet.

I bought a Vita. (for my daughter so she can play LBP)

Anything I should really buy?

How the fuck do I get this 'cross-controller' shit to work?

:(

For a portaable id recc all digital, unless youre ocd about wanting a shelf of boxes. Ive been full digi since i got vita a year ago and its glorious. Splitting it with half retail really defeats the purpose of having your whole library in your pocket whereever you go. I went all digital because i hated keeping track of all my gb and gba games as a kid.., or being selective over what games to bring on a trip. And really i know its not a big deal but not taking that extra time to swap games is so nice. I just pick up my vita and theres my library....so convenient!

Pros of retail... Get a box, sometimes get a manual, get resale value.

Do you have ps+? Thats pretty amazing value for vita. Plenty of free games.

Of the top of my head:
Rayman origins/legends
Killzone
Persona 4 golden
Dragons crown
Soul sacrifice
Uncharted
Gravity rush
Hot shots golf
Sonic racing
Virtua tennis 4
Guacamelee
Sly 4
Walking dead
Bunch of fighting games
Superstardust delta
New little kings story
Muramasa rebirth
VLR zeros escape
Im sure theres a lot more major ones im forgetting but that should cover whatever genres you enjoy to start.
A ton of indies too...

Upcoming
Tearaway out in nov - daughter will love it if she likes lbp
Ys celceta
Batman origins blackgate
Ffx/x-2

Cool, I've never played one and wondered why it never came out. I've been contemplating pre-ordering Angry Birds Star Wars for the end of the month, even though I know it's a total rip off.

Def oh it to urself to play an angry birds game. Not sure what star wars is like but the original is really addicting and fun.

I'm cheap too. But the lack of tracking on international shipping always bugs me. So I had to pay extra.

Going through the last couple initial branches in BLR is starting to grate on me. Mainly because of the lack of skipping just because the circumstances are slightly different, even though it's largely the same. Especially when I still need to press through the explanations of the game.

This starts to need to get to the point where I can change the outcome of things soon because my patience is starting to thin.

Waking up and seeing Dragon's Crown in the store with a PS+ discount ;)
Was afraid it will be released with the next store update because the release date was in between two. I should start trusting in our PSN team. #EU-PSN

PS+ discount?!
Damn, you lucky bastards... >_<
Well, if you want to play when you unlock online, you know where to find me, ser.

Really enjoying Malicious Rebirth. Had a bash on my lunch break and found it quite an interesting game - only did the airship level.

Can immediately see how getting new powers can impel a bloke to return to levels to experiment with upgraded smackdowns at speed.

Feels quite unique. A little bit of Otogi, a little bit Musou - particularly Strikeforce.

I'm asking everyone this... how many framerate dips did you notice? How bad were they?

Still more expensive than retail (Australia anyway). Hoping to receive my copy soon

Yes, I could have bought the imported retail version even cheaper but whatever. I want it digitally and I want to support NISA for bringing it over.

Like the game so far. The presentation is nice and I like the art most of the time (amazon is disgusting though).
The gameplay is fun, only the mechanics could be explained a little bit better like the stats etc. The equipment management could also be more polished, they should have used the typical slot system.

Yeah this was nice, I thought we had to wait until next week. Really sucks about the no cross buy.
