I see a continuing trend of banning leading to the most recent page and I'm only on page 8.

What is happening?

People saying it's plausible that he could have thought it was a PoP trailer (bit of a stretch) are glossing over the fact that if that's true then he's interpreting limited information incorrectly. CBOAT posts now include a grain of salt in every box.

Peace ninja. People taking a shit on GAF and how it operates in terms of verifying info and people who leak the info need to learn their lesson.

You know Sony really did a masterful job leading up to the reveal of the PS4.

Up until them most people would have said Sony was the one behind in next gen development. I remember when the rumours of a possible next gen console delay for one console into 2014 was around and EVERYONE thought it was Sony.

We had xbox rumours on a weekly basis and had been hearing them for over a year but everything was really quite on the Sony front except for a few details every now and again. It just made sense that Sony was behind.

I wonder how Sony kept things so quite. I know they kept the 8gigs of RAM upgrade secret but I wonder if they where keeping a lot more to themselves and not sharing to 3rd parties until after the reveal event to keep the competitor in the dark.
Sony's February reveal blew a lot of people away (myself included).
The Playstation Ethos trailer really set the hook (for me)... and then Cerny walked on stage and it was gameover.

Pachter mentioned the PS4 has 1.5 million preorders but we still don't have a clue as to how the Xbox One is doing. Microsoft should at least assure everyone that it is doing fine.

So anyone know how different 900p with upscalers looks compared to 1080p?

This is photoshop's bicubic automatic. Everything gets smeary. In motion it will look worse. It's also not a fair comparison because when downsampled, image quality benefits slightly from the downsample.

Nobody truly knows until they get hands on and see for themselves, because it depends on the quality of the scaling done on the xbox one, and more than likely the quality of the scaler on your HDTV, but I expect it to look quite good.

Bkilian has posted over at B3D (He worked on Xbox one on the sound chip, but has since left) has posted that Xbox one was never planned as a 2014 launch. Take that as you wish but he is well trusted and very articulate poster.

And the plot thickens. Either the 180s really set Microsoft back or they were expecting us to be dumb and spend $500 on a half-baked console.

Havent watched that video in a while. It still good.

Damn the difference in hype between the two reveal leadups was also completely different.

PS4 lead up was super exciting. The entire gaming part of the internet was pumped. Probably a advantage of going first AND not having a lot of pre conference information to go on.

Xbox hype was killed by all the online DRM rumours and that "why would I live somewhere without internet" MS guy. We knew so much going into the event that the build up for that reveal was less hype and more "oh god I hope they are not actually going through with this".

What a year it has been.

What a season................

Cannot see a difference on an IPad. However I do understand native will look better in motion.

Come at the butt, you best not miss

Or you go in the bidet :p

Dude... The first part.... Could be interpreted wrong. 😬

Maybe it was planned for a holiday release, holiday meaning Christmas. In that extra month, I assume Turn10 can finish the game to be solely on disc. And more time to polish the OS.

Maybe they were planning to announce it in May all along. It seems like they maybe were with that 3 month gap between PS4's announcement and theirs, so they had plenty of time to prepare. Even then, though, at 6 months before launch, you'd think they'd have at least a somewhat working OS. Because wasn't it just basically a slideshow of the OS shown and not the actual OS?

They weren't planning on launching until 2015? Holy shit.

I don't care, as long as it won't affect Ps4 multiplatform games.

I expect this to be a common complaint this generation, and not because it will actually be true, either. I think people will commonly make the mistake of vastly underestimating how skilled developers can be at masking differences between the two platforms.

I pray this is sarcasm, but I'm concerned that it isn't...

MS has never been shy about strutting around numbers. The fact they haven't announced anything of the sort is certainly interesting. I would not be surprised if pre-orders were even 2 to 1 in the US, what it is it's likely much higher in PAL.

What a season................

Sony really teased us (in a good way) pre-reveal. You had Kaz hint at not going first, then "See the Future" started popping up everywhere on January 30th. I first saw it on Facebook and went apeshit in a Vita thread about it. Then we had about a week of retrospective videos before the reveal that just left us feeling so nostalgic for the PlayStation of the old. Sony dropped bombs left and right with the hardware rundown and small list of games. It was small, but that conference was long. Then E3 happened, and we all know what went down there.

Oh man...goosebumps. 8GB GDDR5! Shadow Falls! Granted, at the time I was really looking forward to the next Xbox, Sony still blew me away. I especially liked that they held their conference in the evening (GMT -5 here) so I was able to watch the full conference. In comparison, MS held their reveal around 12:00PM my time while I was at work. I remember thinking "WTF" and sweating looking at the time (knowing that it was only a one hour conference) and thinking when they were going to start talking about the GAMES.

Not really, no. Lionhead said they have no plans for a fully fledged Fable 4... What's being offered is a spin off dungeon crawler that's already been exhausted.

Forza... Forza isn't even that good. I don't think I've heard anyone argue that Forza is a fantastic 10/10 system seller, until Microsoft announced it for their launch title. Now everyone is Forza everything. And has anyone ever played the original Killer Instinct? It was... Meh. Sure, it was fun, but it was severely outshone by other fighting games at the time. There's a reason it didn't become a cornerstone franchise for Rare.

Halo was okay. Not 10/10 amazing, but okay. The multiplayer was fun, though it was very casual, just like CoD... I've always enjoyed shooters with challenge, like RSV2 and ARMA. Socom and MAG are better shooters overall in comparison to Halo, too. And that was Bungie Halo. Bungie were capable of making good games... Hell, I really respect Bungie (what I don't respect, however, is that the Halo series is full of plotholes and is practically a ripoff of Ringworld and Consider Phlebas). But now Halo has been passed to 343 and good god, they can't make a good game to save their life.

GoW is... Meh. I have no major complaints about that one and I respect if people enjoy it, but it's literally leaving the Xbox with one killer franchise.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, last generation Microsoft focused their money into timed exclusives and third party exclusives. This is why there are few notable IPs Microsoft own. Sony focused on first party. As a result, there was a slow start, but now Sony have a range of IPs that rival Sega (Sega actually have the best range of IPs, they just never use them... How come there's not another Jet Set Radio game?).

tl;dr = Microsoft have very few killer franchises that aren't ruined or have always been terrible.

The problem is that Microsoft has very masterfully crafted those killer franchises into juggernauts that even with less than stellar releases will do the work for them in probably a large capacity.

It just can't hold them up another whole generation and is why they've branched out in an attempt to re-invent the wheel.

Look at how they prance around the "over 100 E3 awards". Or the NPD sales every month.

If they were not significantly lower, we would know X1 pre-order numbers by now.

Yep! I recall watching it around dinnertime over here. I was in school during the Xbox conference so I had my laughs on the ride home. Just the name "Xbox One" caught me off guard.

What's truly intriguing is we don't even get US pre-order numbers

I can only imagine MS is significantly behind even in their strongest market or they'd announce" X number of pre-orders in the US"

Instead it's been XB1 pre-orders are surpassing X360 pre-orders

K that tells me little considering how much retail has changed since 2005

I am scouring the thread like crazy but can't find a Cboat Demon's Souls 2 confirmation. That would be insane. Or do we have another leaker like him, who confirmed it?!

Guys, Demon's Souls 2 guys. Miyazaki's new game?! PLZ. If Cboat confirmed DeS2 I will cry the manliest tears.

It's difficult to tell apart on my 15" MB, But I wonder how it could look on my 65" panni with motion added to it.
