Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

Persona 2 was split over two games, Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. Persona 2: Innocent Sin wasn't originally localized on PSone, so Atlus released the PSP version. Persona 2: Eternal Punishment wasn't localized for PSP, so Atlus put up the localized PSone version on PSN.

Which one is the first part? I've been eyeballing them for a while, but I wasn't sure which one was the first part, and which one was the second part.

EDIT: Seriously?! How do I keep missing top of the page?! I want to recommend shit, dammit!

Screw it, I'll do it anyway!

BUY:
Persona 4
Sly TiTs
Guacamelee
Tokyo Jungle Mobile
Dragon's Crown
Soul Sacrifice
Killzone: Mercenary (and fuck it, Killzone: Liberation while you're at it; it's in a bundle with Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow).

I don't even rate stuff on the store. Not my style.

So you are telling me more that one person got it, well at least one did it for his youtube channel, now what the excuse of other one who rated it?

also what with Maximas today making me sad , first my car dying now this :(

Snapping up Knights in the Nightmare at this price, to go towards the spend50get10 promo.

SRPG check
skill-based check
good score attack mechanics check
difficult check

Ticks all of my boxes.

Can anyone comment on Hexyz Forces?

I imagine that it gets better after you build up your character to the point that you can effectively solo the dungeons so the AI characters are just functioning as targets for the enemy to attack besides you.

This way of thinking is mostly a result of being spoiled with P3P's battle system first. In FES Journey/Answer, before you start getting your broken toys (Surt, Thor, Vorpal Blade in great status), the MC serves as the everyman, at times outclassed by certain party members (notably Mitsuru, Aki, Shinji, Metis) in terms of offense. You can really feel that every party member is pulling their weight, save for the times that they decide to do screwy stuff (which can be alleviated by being more familiar with the system).

That said, it is really hard to go back to it once you've tasted FES.

Bummer about the screens in the new Vita :( I'm such a sucker for new models of hardware, too, but not at the expense of viewing quality. Can't handle that.

When are the 64GB cards hitting the states, though?

I think Hexyz Forces passed my "it looks good in this review" check so I bought it for cheap the last sale.

When do the new ps+ games come out

The same as every month.
Last two store updates of the month.
So this month would be: 22nd and 29th.

November might get a little weird cause of the annual games swapping out.

hopefully they make Vita 3000 with dat Triluminos display.

64gb... dunno maybe same time when they announce Vita 2000 for NA/Europe Empire.

After thinking about it, I've come to the conclusion that the Touhou franchise would work best on the Vita. I'm surprised it hasn't even tried to make it overseas on PC since it is a PC game franchise...

We need to send shahid to Japan.

I tweeted @yosp and shahid months ago saying that until they get Touhou/ZUN on board, then they haven't gone all out with their "we love indies" thing.

I got no reply from either, LOL.

Also, stand back guys. If there's still any 4gB peasants here (I am .__.), this might be the time to buy a new card.

Sengoku Musou 2 HD with Moushouden will be 5048MB

I think this would be the first Vita game to go over 4gB. Both Killzone Merc and PSO2 were around 3.5gB before their updates/patches came in.

Hardware-wise, the Vita and 3DS/XL feel at least a generation apart. So I don't think it would be fair to judge them 1:1.

I still play games on my DS Lite and as long as I keep my expectations in check, I'm able to enjoy myself despite the technological gap that separates it from my Vita.

I agree. As someone who cannot watch tv shows in SD anymore due to being spoiled with HD it's just too difficult going from vita to 3DS despite the games and content I am missing. It just feels cheap from every angle.

It's a shame that every portable from Nintendo other than the original Gameboy felt like it was behind despite the awesome software.

No, I don't play that way. I use a full party and have each member play a role, and I was able to use that approach in P3P and just let the AI handle most of the enemy encounters.

What was great though was having the option to take over when things got dicey, which I see as a marked improvement over P3:FES. Why attempt to alleviate a problem that can be completely avoided in the first place.

Does anyone know if you can use your save file from a cart version of Rayman Origins on the digital copy from PS+?

It seems to be giving me 2 separate files, one that's 1.4MB and one that's like 960MB. The 1.4MB file is the save from my cart version (I'd assume). But it doesn't seem to want to let me install both of those at the same time, and when I try to copy the smaller file over, this is what it tells me:

When I start Rayman, it is a fresh file.

Have you tried using the PS+ cloudsave to get your card savegame on the digital version?
Backup the card savegame to the cloud and delete the bubble, then download the game and download the save. Should be better than messing around with the content manager.

I really recommend watching Marc The Geek's "Final Impressions" review of the new Vita Slim: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RI-ktYoWcw

He doesn't post here, but he's a legit Vitabro, and brings up excellent points after having it for about a week and already doing unboxing/comparison vids... really thorough from someone who sits down and plays their Vita all the time.

Ends up deciding which one to keep at the end.

What made me share the video here was the point he made about memory at around the 3:50 mark: the internal 1GB storage becomes inactive when you put in a memory card. So you can't turn a 32GB into 33GB for example. Makes sense since data would be partitioned without any choice in the matter, and I was wondering how that would work.

People who hate the blue light on the white Vita's PS button might be happy, though.

Nice video. He really shows how much of a negative impact the LCD screen can have on the new model if you have already seen or own the old one.

I also like that he speaks as a gamer, which is really cool.

Thanks for sharing!!

lol I feel so stupid. I went through and deleted Rayman and Uncharted, copied back over my cart save bubbles, and went to upload the saves. It turns out I uploaded them last year at some point when I had Plus. I have worked way too hard today and my brain is mush.

Thank you though. Vitabros are always willing to help.

Haha, at least I saw this before it installed and I jumped through hoops. ;)
I'm always glad to help out a Vitabro if I can -- and in this case, I wanted to know if there were any shenanigans with my 100% complete cart file not working on my digital copy.

Glad it worked out for you.

So I finally got around to picking up last year's whita Vita from the AC:L bundle. But now I need to get rid of my black 3G Vita from launch.

Is anyone interested in a black 3G Vita, 4GB memory card and copy of AC Liberation for $130 shipped in the US?

The Vita itself is in good condition. No scratches to the screen as it's had a protector since day one. Light scratches from use in the rear touch pad. And a small knick on the front right side of the silver plastic from when my daughter knocked it off the kitchen table.

The Walking Dead Vita port is decent. Everything runs great except for some slight framedrops here and there. I don't know if it's because I got the Digital version (and it might have some GTA like issues) but the game will frequently stall when loading new cinimatics. It's usually not bad, and doesn't really hamper the experience in any way, it tends to only happen during cutscenes as some new assets are being loaded in for a new shot or event in the scene.

Platinum in Muramasa is a ridiculous grind. I can't believe what I have to go through to get the last two gold trophies. Not even just beating it on Fury mode, but getting all three endings? Preposterous. Ugh, looks like I'm in it for the long haul... :/

I have everything but the Fury mode trophies.
I maintain that it's nigh impossible or, at the very least, ridiculously frustrating.
And I platinum'ed MGR:R.

If you've done Fury mode, please feel free to give me some tips. :D

I could plat Muramasa but MGR:R is so frustrating, mission 18 or whatever kills me and after 20 times losing every week I just gave up.

Muramasa is exploitable if you have whetstones and just spam sword abilities.

finished Gravity Rush...man what an amazing game, had so much fun with it. This game alone justified buying a Vita for me, and there's still so much I haven't played!

Gravity Rush 2, now!

And another sale was locked.

I'm waiting eagerly to see how mucho GR sells. It could showcase how PS+ can affect a game sales (if it's good).

P4G soundtrack is slowly filling my phone. It's the first time I've actually liked so much an OST. Maybe the fact that both P3/4 has lots of vocal themes is one of the reasons.

And I've been wandering around the TV mode of the game. Atlus trailers for both P3 and P4 are really good. And I've watched the P3 battle theme video. I didn't remember how awesome it is.

And I'm really liking the explanations about Jungian psichology (with P3 cameo included). What is weird, because I've been studying psichology three years in a row in the university and I hated every moment I have to sit down and study it xD

Yeah, I was eyeballing that, too. I remembering seeing it before on something and thinking it would be decent on Vita. Here's some solid gameplay footage of the iOS version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEl5JCZCOI8 - I'd like to see Vita footage or impressions, though, because iBomber looked fine on PSM, but had really long load times.

Might take one for the team and see how it is when I get home. Would be a good fit for the Vita.
