I like this Bernie Sanders guy (he's speaking right now).

@Mesousa: Your non-vote means more power to fringe groups/radicals. It'll become worse if more people thought like you.

Holy Sheet I like this idea!

Damn near impossible to prove (even as I sit here and try to devise a legal standart), but I like the idea.

work harder dammit. my lowly artist brain cant figureit out, but something has to be done. we had a prop down here in California about gay marriage. it was smeared as literally teaching homosexuality in school without parent consent. those words were no where on the bill. nor did it address teaching. but it was sponsored by the anti-happy coalition. things like that turn my stomach.

we cant pretend that its just education. its on purpose to misinform.

The betterment of everyone is not just for the "Sake of it", nor is it the entire world burning.

Fascists/communists coming into power will lead to the betterment of everyone, or did my first reply to you go right over your head?

Revolutions go well when it's a bunch of rich people being replaced by another bunch of slightly less rich people. See the American Revolution.

The American revolution only happened because there was a hunger there. You dont get this hunger by buying into the system with "Votes" and maintaining the status quo.

Fascism has also failed to make life better for everyone where ever it has been tried.

As an outside observer it would've been fascinating seeing a sovereign default of that scale. Really though, was there any doubt a deal would be reached?

yes..yes there was. As you can look from the outside in, I don't think you realize how dangerous the tea party is. They really want the government to default.

OK, since I guess you have no idea about anything, and don't even know what NDSP and Bolshevik mean:

You think that a horrific economic collapse will lead people to better the world. In reality, horrific economic collapse causes people to become angry and hateful and violent rather than productive, and will make the world a much worse place.

PS: the NDSP was the Nazi Party, and the Bolsheviks were Lenin's communists. They got into power due to horrific economic collapse and the support of people who were starving and terrified.

lol

Dees, the artist of this picture, is literally a sick person. He doesn't represent anyone or anything but America's failure to properly deal with mental illness.

So let's not go posting artwork from him in a conversation about actual politics.

They should've received nothing. What was coming was scary, probably moreso than I can truly appreciate, but I still believe that any concession granted under these circumstances sets a worrying precedent.

They functionally are receiving nothing - income verification already exists as part of the law.

They basically did receive nothing.
Well, I suppose they got a "talking point" about something that was already in the law.
And they got record low approval ratings.

They received something which was already there... As long as they feel better about it, it's probably ok to make a "concession"

they grilled the park services guy, it was pretty hilarious.

they were lambasting him about having barriers up and asked him to take them down.

and he said he wouldnt until they passed an appropriations bill, and the congressman asking him to do it got pissed.

I still don't even understand this "concession".
It was already in the law.

If they can figure out any possible way to make it more difficult for an eligible person to sign up for Obamacare, they will. The only concern I have is whether or not this gives them anything "extra" to fuck with aside from the way the income verification already written in the law.

They received nothing that wouldn't have been there had they just passed a clean CR/DL increase three weeks ago.

i think it depends on the exact way they're supposed to "verify income" and what bars they are setting to achieve the subsidies.

"oh, you didn't give us your W2 for the temporary job you had for a week that they never sent you? You don't qualify for subsidies."

What happened with the issue of Congressional staffers getting subsidies? Is that in or out?

That was thrown out immediately. But you can bet there are a lot of Republican staffers that are looking for new jobs because they know that the people they work for will throw them under the bus in a second.

Not only should Bush be impeached. He should be trialled as a war criminal and rot in a jail for the rest of his life. Bush having committed a major war crime is not such a fringe opinion.

Lying about weapons of mass destruction, and then invading a country using an unrelated terrorist attack as moral leverage, whilst killing thousands of poor people who joined the military due to the lack of other options, whilst also killing thousands of innocent civilians, and turning a previously balanced budget into a $1 trillion deficit, with most of that "money" going to your friends in the military-industrial complex isn't an impeachable offence.

Getting your dick sucked in the oval office and lying about it is.

Oh ok. So the Democratic party fringe is racist. I'm glad we agree.

But we don't agree on philosophy. I agree that there are plenty of racist Democrats (see Hillaryis44 for example) But that's hardly the same as the issue with the Tea Party. The majority of Tea Partiers when polled, express racist views of the president. The majority believe he is a foreign born muslim. They also show very little understanding at all, of the issues they're obsessed with.

This continued insistence that both parties are equally bad is a fucking embarrassment.

The current Tea-Party-driven GOP is objectively, demonstrably and obviously worse. Any argument to the contrary won't pass any rational sniff test.

Yeah they'll shut down the government again in a few months, and look like fools again, strenghtening a Democrat win in 2016.

Immigration reform is the next issue Obama is asking the senate to push through. Let's see the Republicans shoot themselves in the foot again on that one.

Let's worry more about 2014. Let's hope the GOP keeps fucking up until then.

I don't think we really need to worry whether or not the GOP is going to keep fucking up, though.
