In the case of 2K I believe they've said that they simply wanted to get the current-gen versions out before focusing their attention on the next-gen versions.

I feel bad for the kid whose mom accidentally buys NBA Live instead of 2K for Christmas...
I really want this to be good just so we can have some competition again and I could have some variety in basketball games, not to mention the fact that Kyrie Irving is on the cover which makes me HAVE to have it but it's going to be hard to stick to that if it's years behind 2K still and I'd be wary of getting the first game in its reboot on a new engine considering how many weird problems happened in the past with EA Sports game and their physics. In the end, I know it will be lacking and I'll end up skipping it which will piss me off that they wasted Irving for this year.
I do like how they want to improve ball-handling physics but it's got to be perfect for it to work since there's so many things that can go wrong and Live is so far behind 2K in other areas that it won't be a big enough difference to dethrone 2K's awesomeness.
You know they're taking pride in their physics though considering that's why Kyrie Irving is on the cover (great young player obviously too but it's mostly because of his dribbling which lends itself to these new physics).
I just wish 2K would give PC players the full game instead of relying solely on modders to do shit they never would do and the fact that they never gave us the updated lighting model from the consoles was really stupid as well. I knew better than to expect the next-gen version on PC, that's for sure...lol

Why do people want NBA Live to be so good when 2K is already so good? Competition is fine and all, but EA's version of competition against 2K seems to be "we can't beat em, so might as well sign an exclusive agreement with the sports leagues."

Sorry man, I still blame them for locking 2K games from making NFL games by signing an exclusive agreement with the NFL after 2K's NFL game took a large chunk of their sales. Fuck EA's version of "competition". So yeah, I want them to fail on their sports franchises.
How else do you expect 2K to ever answer for online fuckups?

So much this. All you have to do is take a look at NBA Live then look back at NBA2K to realize the type of talent EA has working on their sports franchises(Madden and Live in particular). Those devs down at Tiburon really have got to be ashamed of the garbage theyve been spewing out.

It's not just the graphics is bad, the animation is incredibly basic too.

I hope they don't stop because competition is always better for consumers. What they should do is pull a 2k and sell this for $20.
