ITT: People forget that graphics aren't everything.

I admit for "next gen" it doesn't look too great but when it comes to basketball games I was always an NBA Jam fan so the 2K games are just too difficult for me.

Live has always seemed simpler when looking for that balance of fun and simulation.

So you're hoping for more like NBA Jam? The thing is, Live is supposed to be just as sim-like as 2K. Just like Madden is supposed to be just as sim-like as the 2K football games used to be.

This is why EA will continue to give Roger Goodell the best BJs to make sure that NFL contract never ends. Madden will be done just like Live if 2K is allowed to make NFL games again.

So odd.

NBA Live is the "next gen" only game.
While 2K14 is cross-gen.

But you wouldn't know it by look. :s

Ignite engine, kill it with fire.

Why exactly? Because you don't like the graphics?

2K looks good graphically, great even, but what of all the other flaws? From the trailers, it looks like 2K is using the same canned animation based system which might look better but is still terribly ineffecient and at alot of times unrealistic.

I can at least give EA a nod for trying to implent simulation based locomotion and movement. You could even see it in that one play as Nash has to compensate his speed for lateral movement to get around that pick, speed up a little once he cleared then actually slow down and balance to get the floater up and on line. 2K has lacked any realistic physics for ages now and they get the pass.

Nice stealth trolling. You really think the PS4 is going to look miles better? lol

And damn that teaser, what were they thinking?! This is NBA Live 2010...

The game looks terrible. Its like lightning is missing from the players.

The movement is awkward as hell, in the CGI trailers with Irving, the players have this weird lanky look to them, and their arms and bodies look like they have no bones, like they are that guy from Fantastic Four, Stretchman?

They had years for this and this is the best they could come up with? While 2k releases a new (good) basketball game ever year and their next version looks legit good.

Live hasn't been awesome since Genesis,

Disagree.

It was fun on the PS1 (NBA Live 98 and 99) and NBA Live 2003-2005 were pretty solid.

NBA Live 10 was solid too but due to bad sales EA tried to "revamp" the series with NBA Elite and we all know what happened from there...

They wouldn't be in this funk if they would have just used NBA Live 10 as a base and continued on building from that.

Sliding is apart of almost every game with bipedal movement. There's nothing silly about it.
Thats the nba live sliding though. Its so prevelant you even see it in the trailer. This game aint nothing but elite tuned up. All the janky NBA live EA swag is all there. The ball bounces like a yoyo tied to a string on the players hands.

This looks like a case where the game was being made for current gen, and they decided to just drop that same game on to next gen with little to no improvements.

wow.....that was just bad...especially considering it's a next gen exclusive title. Perhaps that's the Nintendo Wii U version.. :/

Am I the only one more concerned about the stiff animations?

Cannot expect more from EA when it comes to animations. Even in FIFA, a series often praised, the players resembles prime apes rather than human beings.

That game looks fine from a wide camera the way FIFA is normally played, but in cut scenes its a Zoo and every animal is invited.

It's not just the graphics is bad, the animation is incredibly basic too.

You can also see sliding before Nash's Layup.

The worst is the closeup of the ball stop spinning after it entered the net:

Great find.

Wow SMH. A few years ago they did something similar with Madden ball didn't spin when QB threw the ball. 2K is playing chess and EA is playing checkers.

I'm sure that someone from the development team is reading this thread.

Poor guys, they probably thought they had something special.

Do basketball games sell well? I'm wondering because I thought EA would have thrown money at the problem just to beat an aggressive competitor like they did with Konami's Pro Evo.

It's unbelievable that they're still putting out these stupid little teaser videos.

Here is a fact: When it comes to basketball games, EA is in no position to tease. They need to be SHOWING THE GAME. Period. We have ONE MONTH until release, and we're still getting stupid 5 second clips, and saying "this is just a taste--full video in 3 or 4 or 5 or 6 days". This is not the attitude EA can afford to have when they already have TWO cancelled basketball games under their belt. Regardless of how good or bad this looks, this should've been like the 10 video already.

Can't agree more with ya. Is it today they're supposed to show the gameplay or tomorrow? 2K as we? Anyone know?

It's almost like they gave up. You can already tell by that short clip the way the players move, it is going to be hard to even look at this game.

Good lord. What's wrong with EA Sports devs? This looks terrible for next-gen.

FUCK. The UFC game is using the Ignite engine, too. FUCK.

They have nothing to show. Imagine being on the NBA live team. You've been working on this shit for 3-4 years and you have nothing. You made a game that doesn't even look like basketball. I feel like they have to release at this point but honestly EA needs to just shut it down and quit wasting time on it. Competition is good, but this isn't competition.

I'm starting to wonder if "Ignite" is a genuinely new engine or just a rebranding of their existing tech. This doesn't look next gen at all, FIFA looks like current gen FIFA in higher res, the only thing remotely impressive was UFC, and who knows what that'll actually look like during gameplay.

Rebranding. As you said everything looks like their current gen counterpart just "prettier". I dont see why people are surprised. EA has a track record of lying and overselling their sports franchises, this time was no different.

They needed something to hype the next gen so they came up with the phrase ignite engine and all hope all the idiots eat it up. The people who cant see Madden and Live for what they are, Garbage.

EDIT: For reference a game running on a brand new engine is what PES14 looks like compared to PES13, not what EA is spewing out.

EA Sports should be embarrassed at their next gen output. This game is gonna get torn apart review wise and sell like a hot turd. They better make it $20 like those 2K games were back in the mid 00's.

Fuck sim sports on Ignite engine. Give EA Sports arcade titles in Frostbite 3! NBA/NFL Street with levelution gamebreakers! :p
