I'm on the fence with the art book. I've seen it, it looks great, but I don't really know if I'll be looking through it again after the first time.

Tomorrow is the day!!!! I'm picking this up on my way home from Wal Mart and watching it as soon as I get it opened. I might even watch it twice!

I love this movie so very much. I can watch it endlessly, can't wait for the blu-ray to arrive. That this movie got made on this budget is just amazing. Of course it has it's flaws but it's just so enjoyable.

And on the point of why not a sword always, it's because the Jaegers got orders to minimise bleeding inflicted to a Kaiju because their blood is toxic. That's why Gipsy uses Plasma cannons to cauterise the wounds.

I also like how they showed the Kaiju were learning and improving.

Three arms, here's a tail. Heavy armour, here's acid and a bigger Kaiju. The EMP and also how the aliens where panicking when Gipsy showed up because when Newt and Gottlieb drifted you saw they had a load of Knifeheads in production.

Best summer blockbuster in years for me.

What are you expecting? To Legendary pull some cash ahead of a schedule? If PR2 will be greenlit within the next 3 years then Del Toro is not directing it. It's safe to assume it's not coming out for long time, given he is pre-occupied with Crimson Peak and Pinocchio.

Crimson Peak seems like a small investment of his time. It shouldn't take too long to get that movie made. Pinocchio, I thought he was only producing so again I can't see that being a huge time commitment for him. PR2 could be greenlit way before the next three years, if it is even happening

Because no one thought to use stabbing or slicing weapons before this?! Not even using spikes on their fists at least? Human warfare since the beginning of time has been about using weapons to inflict more damage. But I need to just get over it :)

Please ... if you can't have fun ... just ..... just ....... just please stop watching it.

Just arrived!

Tonight will be a good night. This is perfect timing too. Just got obliterated in midterms, and I need something to take my mind off it!

Waited for the bluray, and I wish I hadn't. Movie was awesome. Should've seent it in theaters.
Real cool movie.

This is a movie where the size of the screen had a significant impact in my viewing experience. I can hardly remember another recent movie that has invoked that same feeling.

This still doesn't explain anything. She didn't make those additions during the fight, did she?

Thats actually adressed in the movie: Mako specifically
mentions she had additions made to Gypsy before they set out and use the sword.
So many people glance over that.

On top of that,
this was Mako's first actual Kaiju fight and she had been pretty emotionally unstable just from running a simulation.

Yeah, both this and Gravity truly benefit from a big screen experience. And ironically, I saw both several times in the theater.

My thoughts exactly. In fact I think I only made it about 5 minutes into the bluray before I had to smack myself for not seeing it at the cinema.

So tired of some of the recent releases only including Ultraviolet digital copy. I think I'm not even going to buy this because of it.

So you're in the camp that prefers iTunes only digital copies? The ones that can only be watched on an Apple TV, iDevices, or PC? I'll take my HD UV copy that I can watch on iDevices, Android, Roku, PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and practically any Blu-ray player these days (PS4/Xbone soon). UV has been a godsend for anyone not attached to Apple at the teat.

Wow, I just got done watching the blu-ray and all of the extras too. This blu-ray looks and sounds utterly fantastic. It's like the best looking and sounding movie I own now. I saw details everywhere in the movie that I simply didn't notice after three times on the big screen. And some of the featurettes were really nice, Del Toro sure did put a lot, and I mean a LOT, of effort and careful scrutiny into every aspect of the film.

And now the main theme will be stuck in my head for days, AGAIN. I think I might watch it again in a few days already. This movie is like a childhood fantasy of mine...

Which version did you buy? I think the collector's edition has more extras.

the sequel would benefit so much if del toro didn't write it (or beacham).

this movie shines when they get into those suits. outside of the jaegers and kaiju it's really boring to sit through.

I had my eyes tearing of pure bliss during speed racer both because of the experience I was having and because I knew I could never match again this first time in a movie. The Bluray is amazing but it's not the theater.

I hate all digital and ultraviolet copies with passion because I want to OWN this stuff if I'm to buy a movie, not just rent it until they close down their servers.

So in Europe companies are now experimenting with putting some extras only on Ultraviolet. Man of Steel Blu-ray discs are missing extras (compared to North American copies), extras that are then put on the Ultraviolet digital copy. That's already bad enough, but it gets even worse because Ultraviolet doesn't actually work in most countries but we still get the same exact Blu-ray discs that have extras stripped off of them.

They are trying to annoy the only people who actually care about extras and stuff. I don't see what their angle is on this but it sure is frustrating. The other favourite thing to do is putting extras only on 3D copies so that people who care about extras have to buy that useless 3D copy for often nearly double the price.

Oh man, AWESOME. Do we know what other figures will be in Series 3 or is it... just Cherno?

Also, when is Series 2 out? Last I heard was sometime in October (as well as a reissue of Series 1)?

I don't see what wrong with the writing like many said. It's cheesy but I find it quite engaging. Am I missing something?

Nope, you aren't. The movie was awesome in every regard for an action packed summer blockbuster movie that just wants to entertain. One of the best all around blockbuster style action movies in a long time. For the people that expected Lawrence of Arabia or Casablanca levels of writing, well their expectations were a tad unrealistic.
