Yeah, but grass/ground has been a specific point of neglect on current-gen consoles. Even in The Last of Us and GTA V we got fantastic, impressive lighting and facial modeling.

But grass and ground textures have been fucking hideous, this generation. Usually just one huge texture smudge, so painful.

This looks really well done, actually in terms of grass and foliage.

Now that I think about it, the last time grass impressed me before Crysis 3 was probably Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and MGS3's boss fight.

It really can't be stated enough how stunning it looks. I can't stop watching it on my TV. And to think, this is just a taste of what's coming next gen.

QB and Sunset Overdrive going to look mindbogglingly awesome .
Agreed. I don't care which console has a little more juice than the other, if this is what we can expect with some games on Xbox One I will be a happy little camper. :)

They bend when you walk over them! The things that used to impress me, good lord.

edit: games don't even do that now as a standard so that would probably still impress me

Huh, why? The collision detection looks fantastic in that specific gif

Yeah. I said that reminds me. Remember all the crazy multiplayer videos released a while ago? Or even the previous single player video. The enemies were falling through rocks! I'm just hoping all those issues have been addressed.

I honestly don't think a nextgen game is going to look as good as Ryse for a while. It's in the same situation as Halo CE was - it's been being made for a while now, a lot longer than most nextgen games, and the dev is using the best tools in the business.

Anyone who's seen the Ryse tech presentations will know that Crytek went about working on Ryse with an emphasis on efficient programming systems. So they effectively cut down time that would have been spent arduously recreating so many assets for so many environments.

I don't want to get in to this, but Killzone SF does, and has 44% more pixels, open ended gameplay (SP) and in MP at least, runs at double the frame rate. Think on that a minute.

Stating opinion as fact?

Its not that hardware means nothing, its that you're over simplifying things. "Look, part X of this system is 50% better and part B is 27.453% better, the game must look 50% better as a result" if only it was that simple. We have two systems that we still don't know all the details about, and only a few would understand them if we did, which use different processes across the board, and you reckon its as clear as day if you move a game from one platform to another it'll run x% better. That's not how it works, there's more intricate details in the hardware and development of both systems that we know nothing of, and there's aspects we have no way if understanding unless you were working on the game on a day to day basis. Software and hardware development is a very complicated job, yet so many seem to think its really simple, people wouldn't spend so long being educated in it and earn such a healthy wage if that was the case. This returns to the simple point, until we see games running noticeably better on the PS4, saying Ryse would look better on the PS4 is silly.

Shouldn't take too long, The Witcher 3 is coming next year :)

Killzone Shadow Fall, Witcher 3, Infamous SS, The Order 1886, Quantum Break and Uncharted 4 will all top it without too much effort imo. 2015 the gap is only going to widen.

Basically, we can expect gameplay graphics to look similar to the Deep Down and Quantic Dream Sorcerer tech demo's.

I wouldn't dismiss 343i and EPIC, I have the feeling they will top it as well

I love this sort of comment.

Wow I'd never have thought to think if I hadn't been told to think to think.

Higher res aside I'm not blown away. I suppose as a pc gamer anyway it just isn't that amazing. It's why I cancelled, it was the only game interest my me until The Order and it isn't enough reason for me to invest.
