Kotaku: NFS Rivals "indistinguishable" between PS4/PC, XB1 version not present

I'm so hyped for the 15th at this point. Pick up my PS4, play all weekend, then have Thanksgiving break to play some more. I think this article pushed me over the edge and I'm going to add NFS to my next gen collection due to the lack of Drive Club. Great time to be a gamer.

Lol

30fps on a driving game. :( But at least it's a driving game at launch. I'll wait for reviews on this one, but I may get it just to have a racer. NFS is arcadey right?

I think this Drive Club delay is going to help NFS Rivals big time. I feel like picking it up alongside Killzone (since you know... Watch Dogs :/ ).

Yep, EA had a smile from ear to ear when they heard about the driveclub delay.

I wasn't even considering buying a racing game this year because I was getting drive club for free.

Now though...

So I went Googling for PC 30fps.

MY FUCKING SIDES

"Anything can happen in AllDrive. That's the key innovation with this game. You don't have single-player, co-op or multiplayer. It just happens seamlessly.I could be playing the game, setting a time, and all of a sudden you could come into that world, and you could be carrying AI, I could be carrying AI, and all of a sudden, on that screen, there are a lot of cars. We always have to budget for the worst case scenario. So in this case we've prioritised the gameplay, because we think 30fps is giving a satisfactory experience."

I'm intrigued by the Alldrive idea - no split between sp/mp. IIRC I saw someone refer to it as 'mingleplay'' and I presume that's how something like Destiny would merge sp/mp modes while maintaining both kinds of narrative in a persistent game world.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. EA would be nuts to not have the PS4 version available at day 1 now. Probably too late to write some checks for a co-marketing deal for the ads.

30 is not too shabby, although I would prefer 60. Forza Horizon, BLUR , SplitSecond , to name a few, were 30 too and were a blast to play imo

With Most games being demoed on PS4 and or PC, is it safe to safe the standard for review copies or lead platform skus will be PS4?

If I were a developer/publisher that's what I'd do. The PS4 being the obviously more powerful console means it will become the default console for press evaluations, just as the 360 was this generation. I don't know what kind of impact that will have on sales, but it could cause a shift back towards Playstation dominance in mindshare.

Looks pretty enough, but it looks too similar to Criterion's past work on NFS.

I'm not interested in Burnout with police cars. Bring me back Underground!

You do know you won't be playing this game on the 15th?

A subjective statement like this cannot be taken seriously, i'd trust more on a DF analysis

Also no way jose

A super techy analysis that's basically, "if you freeze frame and zoom in to 50x resolution, it's clear as day that version x is better," is actually less useful for me as, "I played both and couldn't/could tell a difference."

I will not buy a 30fps PC game. This is incredibly stupid.

Wasn't another NFS game artificially capped recently?

This becomes the defacto racing game for PS4 owners with DC moving to next year. I'm glad to hear it looks good there. If I get NFSR, it'll be on the PS4 and Forza for the Xbox One.

Whats up with all the devs only showing PS4 versions lately

misterXmedia says its because the Xbone version is so superior that it would let the cat out of the bag about the hidden power inside the Xbone that nobody is allowed to talk about...

i really wish that wasnt true, but its really what they are saying over there...

I'm surprised there are still people that question this.
You think it might have something to do with the fact that there are virtually no instances of games being demoed concurrently on both platforms? Like people wanting to base conclusions on actual information?

*Buys Need For Speed Rivals for the PS4*

*Sticks it in a brown paper bag*

*Writes "#Driveclub" on it with a black sharpe, fucks up the spelling so it comes out as "#Driveclud*

Works for me.

And the ironic thing is, is that the PS4 versions of multiplats are starting to show a much bigger gap Vs. Xbox One versions of multiplats (because the hardware between PS4 & Xbox One is very huge) more so than the multiplats on 360 being better than the PS3 versions of multiplats (because the hardware between 360 & PS3 are so similar).
