Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

agghhhh I want to import this so much but I also want to actually understand what they're saying

If GE2 actually sells more than 100k on PSP, I'll be really surprised.

I mean. PSP screen would be blurry, aiming will be shit (in Burst was pretty awkward, thumb in stick, index finger in D-Pad), camera will be better in Vita and touchscreen should been useful for managing bullets and items.

The difference is so big i'd find weird if PSP solds well. God Eater Burst was crying for a second analog stick.

I think I've read some reviews about the AI being a lot better in GEB on the psp than the Vita (teammates actually dodging and blocking shots etc).
I don't know if they improved it in GE2 but I remember on the demo while doing the harder tier 3 fights they seemed to get downed quite a lot.
(Or maybe I'm just crap and don't know how to manage them lol)

Edit: :O My first top of page! Get P4G, Gravity Rush, pre-order Tearaway already!
In keeping with this post, I'd say pre-order GE2 as well, but since I'm still divided about that...

After playing the demo song for about 3 hours too long, I bought Cytus Lambda. Then I found the little button that changes the song from easy to hard. What... The hell. What is this?! How am I even supposed to... Here.

This is ridonkulous! I Love it...

Thats how it happened to me as well. Hard mode is just soooo satisfying to play. I think i got a B on that song. One of the PSM games that I kinda wished had trophy support. Anyways, enjoy, all the songs are great to play to :D

You should have bought the superior DJMax Technika Tune. It's worth its price.

do you think they're ever going to release some more dlc for that? I've been wanting to get it, but I was also looking forward to some more songs in addition to the list they have.

Noooooooooope. I don't have $50, I only had $20, and I spent the leftover on Velocity Ultra =). I'm sure it might be worth the price but, I just want my fill of good Japanese music, and this has plenty. Also, lol I only have 8GB Card, woe is me. The Sony Store wanted $80 for a 32GB and $40 for 16GB.

Hey Vitabros,

I haven't been the best Vitabro around these parts, but I'm considering repenting for my sins and picking up Persona 4. I know it gets a lot of love around here, and I'm starting to get that cosy winter RPG craving...

I've never played a SMT or Persona game before, but I did love Catherine on PS3 - I know it's not the same gameplay, but to demonstrate that I appreciate the aesthetics and weirdness of such games from Atlus. I'm not a huge JRPG guy, but I did love FFVIII and X back in the day, plus Lost Odyssey on 360.

On Vita I've been playing nothing but fighters and indie platformers, but I feel like I'm ready to sink some time into something more lengthy. Do you think P4 could be for me?

If not my next purchase will probably be Walking Dead, as I never got around to it on PC or PS3. Thanks for any Vitadvice!

Yes.Absolutely.Totally.No doubt.No second thoughts.
Just be prepared that non Atlus J-RPGs will be a little harder to like from now on! :P

Wow, muramasa just clicked with me after I finally defeated the second boss where I was stuck.
The music and the artwork ist just phenomenal. Hope The bossfights don't get too difficult for me, although the third one was a cakewalk.

I don't know but it has been released for a while so I don't think so.
Honestly, I don't care because I had to import the game so buying DLC is out of the question for me anyway.
Would love to have more songs for it, especially because the electro tracks all suck in the game, very disappointing. There also could be more rock, hip hop songs.
Those Kara songs are so catchy and I don't even listen to Kpop :)

Played the Cytus Lambda demo after DJMax and the presentation was just worlds apart. Also didn't like the Cytus songs.

How likely are the two Atelier games to go on sale? I want to try them out but at $40 a pop the buy-in price seems to be kinda steep.
I was also wondering if they're any good, I was just drawn to them because of the art style.

ah damn that sucks :( , was hoping for some more kpop songs to be added to the list. Which site did you get your import off?

A friend brought it over for me (after my sister couldn't because the delivery from Pentavision took over 4 weeks, USA third world country confirmed).

RPGFan recently compiled a list of its Top 20 PSP Role-Playing Games.
They include a number of story-driven strategy RPGs as well.

It's well worth a perusal for those of you looking to pass the time when gaps in the Vita's release schedule present themselves.
15 of these are available for purchase digitally on the PlayStation Store. (I've bolded the ones that are for easy reference.)

It's focused on titles that received domestic releases so obvious exclusions like Final Fantasy Type-0, Valkyria Chronicles 3 and the latter Kiseki titles fail to make the cut.

20) Star Ocean: Second Evolution
19) Jeanne D'Arc
18) Wild Arms XF
17) X-Men Legends II
16) Lunar: Silver Star Harmony
15) Half-Minute Hero
14) Ys I & II Chronicles
13) Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection
12) ZHP: Unlosing Ranger Vs. Darkdeath Evilman
11) Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days

10) Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth
9) Ys Seven
8) Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
7) Riviera: The Promised Land
6) Ys: The Oath in Felghana

5) Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
4) ___ Tactics Ogre: Let us Cling Together ___
3) ________Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII ______
2) _ The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky _
1) ___________ Persona 3 Portable__________
Eh, Crisis Core is way too high. Both Kingdom Hearts. Birth By Sleep and Ys: Oath in Felghana are far superior action RPGs. Personally, I wouldn't put Persona 3 at top either.

What's the time-schedule-system of the Vita-PS-Plus automatic Upload/Patch etc.

Is there a way to manually activate the process?

Experienced the update 2-3 times maybe, if I don't use my Vita I mostly set it to Flight mode. Very annoying.

I'm pretty sure Totori went on sale over the summer, so it's not totally out of the question. Even if they don't, though, I'd still highly recommend them -- especially Meruru, which had (in my opinion) a way more interesting plot. You can't go wrong with either one though!

Holy crap, I'm so happy right now!

As some might know, I'm a huge WipEout fan.
So much so that my Playstation purchases have always depended on WipEout games, starting with the PSOne. Sadly this won't be the case with the PS4, but I digress.

When WipEout Pure was released in Japan, I went as far as to import a PSP just to play it since the PAL release was anything but clear at that point.
When it turned out that Europe was getting the system only 6 months later, I wasn't upset, instead I bought the PAL version of WipEout Pure as well on release.

One of the things I loved about it, besides how it went back to basics and felt like a true continuation of WipEout 1 and 2097 was all the free downloadable content it received in the manner of map packs as well as music packs.

A couple of days ago I repurchased WipEout Pure again, this time on PSN to play on my Vita as the system feels so much nicer to me compared to my old PSP, which I didn't enjoy playing that much due to the design and button quality.

One thing I was wondering about was if it would be possible to integrate the original DLC packs into the game on the Vita. Since the online component for the game has been turned off a long time ago it seems.
Since all I found online was people asking if it worked and none of the replies seemed to get it to work, I thought it wouldn't.

But after a bit of messing around, I got everything to work. :D

All that needs to be done is connect your PSP with the original files to a computer, go into the PSP folder, then select the SAVEDATA folder and copy all the folders in there that start with UCES00001 (the US and JP versions will be named a little different I guess)
Make sure you have gotten a PSVita backup on your computer with the official content manager application and paste these folders into PS Vita/PSAVEDATA/ad01aa4e8d953f33 (not sure if that last string is random or not...)

Then connect your Vita to your computer, open the content manager and restore these files from your PC to your Vita and voila. Pure has all it's exclusive content back. :)

No idea as I don't have the game, but it's worth a shot I think.
Was the DLC for it free as well?
As it might have DRM that might negate this if it wasn't.

It was free DLC that you downloaded from the PSP web browser until GG changed their website and made that impossible. Then you had to follow these steps.

haha, I forgot how batshit insane some of these DLC maps were.
This one for instance. I just love those crazy things that jump up and down at 0.40. :D

Always loved that plastic/glass/milky look from the surroundings in Altima VII. Still no idea why it was called that after all these years as it looks nothing like the original Altima VII.

Why is DJMax Technika Tune very expensive? I don't know anything about the game. I check listings for used games everyday and found one for $38. eBay has it listed for like $60. Seems pointless when the PSN version is $45.

According to this thread, the game is officially only sold directly from the publishers homepage. The game itself is pretty expensive already at $50 and it is quite a niche title so there shouldn't be so many used copies around, hence the price.

Is Ys: Oath in Felghana better than Ys Seven I never played the series but like action RPG's.

Since I have a couple of trips lined up, what would you guys suggest for a good Vita hard case?

I think its time to relieve my PSP of its traveling duties.

I would much rather return to the look of IX, cartoony fantasy, something that provokes imagination. I also don't think it's fair to include VII and VIII in the milieu of modern FF looks. The characters were by and large pretty credible looking in those two games, no one had any nonsense clothing items (well maybe here or there....) and within the rules of that universe looked more or less normal.

Tidus started the wacky eclectic look that defines today's FF. X was a good game but damn those were some wacked out looking characters.

Wrong tab my friend

On that note, it was added on JP PS+'s Free Play (IGC) just last week.

Just downloaded Muramasa. Always wanted this when i had a Wii but glad my first experience of it is on the Vita and the OLED screen. It's beautiful!

I hear the DLC has not been released outside Japan. Has it just been dropped altogether?

The difference in quality is really miniscule, but I do prefer Oath in Felghana, though others prefer Seven. I can't even quite pinpoint why I like OIF more. Maybe it's the pacing of the game or it feels a bit tighter, but Ys Seven is not bad at all and arguably it does have some things that it does better than OIF (some boss fights, especially). Can't really go wrong with either game if you like action RPGs. You'll probably want to play the other & enjoy it just as much once you've finished one, no matter which one you pick first.

Because they didn't cut any songs (to my knowledge) and the licenses for so many non-US songs cost a fuckton of money so they can't really sell it any cheaper. As to why it's not cheap at eBay or Amazon... well, it's not cheap because I don't think they printed too many copies so the ones who are selling it know that it is a valuable package.

Persona 4 Golden has a very slick presentation. Love the style and animations of the menus.
Less impressed with the voice acting, but I'll see if it grows on me or not. It certainly isn't bad by any stretch of the word.

IIRC Japan is in the same boat as us when it comes to the DLC. No one knows when it's coming out.

It hasn't even been released IN Japan

They more or less shoved it aside while developing Dragon's Crown (Kamitani is a one man art team after all) and it's at a point where the retail release was so long ago that not enough people care about it for them to justify spending the time making it probably

The VA in P4G is kinda limp, especially when paired with the occasionally stiff script. I've never quite understood why people laud it for its' voice acting.

Keep going with it, though.

It seems like there are so many announced indies, is anything actually coming out soon? Last title I bought was Spelunky.

no i think its actually pretty quiet for a little now.... nov 15th will have some ps4 launch indies though which are on vita too...

Olli Olli might be the next "big" indie coming to vita though. possibly terraria?

yeaaah - i dont know what it it but i lost interest after the 3rd dungeon or so... ill go back to it sometime , but the battles / dungeons layouts are just very boring.

OlliOlli, Proteus and Luftrausers should come out soon. OMG HD Zombies comes out in NA Oct 29, CastleStorm comes out Nov 5. flOw and flower are coming out next month.

Lone Survivor and Atomic Ninjas came out recently.

I'm by no means an expert in the area, but I have no problems with the VA in P4G, some characters are better than others though.

Speaking of Persona 4, despite all the talk here about the various love interests I was still taken by surprised by Naoto being
a girl
. I have no logical way to explain why I didn't see it coming or figure it out before.

I also received a voucher today for the beta of Starlight Inception. Here a bit from the mail, it sounds like it could be a while before it's released.
The Beta of Starlight Inception can be found on the Sony Playstation Store starting 10/22/13.

We anticipate having a final build for Vita and PS3 sometime before the end of the year, and will let you know as soon as we have a firm date. Prior to release, we will again be sending out Sony vouchers for download.
