First shiny I get: Lilipup from friend safari. I think: "Hey, friend safari pokemon has awesome IV's!". I go to check: "..decent potential". So bittersweet.

Apparently my friend safari gives out Charmeleon.
I feel like such a baller now

O-oh yeah? Well MY friend safari gives out Charizard! And Mewtwo! And I beat the Elite Four so you can catch Agumon there too!

it actually just has boring generic fire types v____v

Holy shit I received a Pupitar from Wonder trade, that Pokemon isn't available on X and Tyranitor was one of the few Pokemon I wanted from Y.

@Matt you've been offline for a while! Can't send trade.
@JBourne your avatar is preoccupied right now? Can't send trade.

Both of you hit me up with a trade request.
@others who asked if they could get to me later--I have you added! It's up to you to hit me up when I'm online. :)

If you have any left that sounds awesome dude.

How do these stats look for Yveltal GAF?

HP 200
Atk 135
Def 115
Sp Atk 163
Sp Def 112
Speed 119

It's Modest, so I'm thinking the IVs must be:
- 31 for Atk, Def and Speed (not ideal for Modest...)
- decent IVs for Sp Atk and Sp Def
- fairly high, but not quite 31 for HP.

A keeper sweeper?

This guy... now this guy deserves it. Really made me smile.
Yep, best

Sorry, but no. I evolved my EV'd Growlithe and brought it to the move relearner. All it could learn was Bite, Leer, Ember, Roar, Thunder Fang, and Extreme Speed. You're gonna have to level up Growlithe all the way to 45 for those moves.

Ah well, I'll wait it out then. I just really want to see how Arcanine looks in XY :P

What's a good counter against garchomps in ranked single battles?

I've been fighting nonstop Garchomps that wreck my entire team because their speed is higher.

Man I really want to use Blastoise. He's my boy. But I have no idea what I should do with him EV or moveset-wise. Any ideas Poke-Gaf? I need some help!

I finally bred my competitive Ambipom! Jolly nature, perfect IVs ins everything except Sp. Attack (which isn't used in the slightest), egg moves of both Fake Out and Beat Up, and his ability lined up to be Technician without the use of Ability Capsule. Excellent! All that leaves now is for me to muster through EV training. For some reason, it's not going as fast for me as other people are saying.

What that means, though, is that I'm finally gonna do my Aipom giveaway. I have half a box full of Aipoms (about 15) that share the following attributes:

Nature: Jolly
Ability: Run Away (Technician upon evolution) EDIT: Some actually have Pick Up... Use ability capsule!
Perfect IVs: Speed and two others that vary--most have "outstanding" potential
Egg Moves: Fake Out and Beat Up

Just quote me and list your friend code. I'll give them away in order of responses in this thread only (please don't send PMs). All I ask is you try to leave me on your friend's list so I can take advantage of your Safari (mine isn't the best--only Pinsir is of any worth). My friend code is: 4398-9604-6699.

Beat Up Ambipom is something that I came up with myself in competitive play. The whole aim was to exploit Ambipom's annoying speed and flinch rate. Fake Out already gives priority and a guaranteed flinch, but if you pair that with Beat Up whilst holding King's Rock, you have a 50-60% chance of flinching again and again and again. I shit you not, I have taken down ENTIRE competitive teams with just my Ambipom. And so, so many ragequits... Flinch after flinch after flinch can be goddamn annoying. Beat Up being dark type counters Ghost-switch ins upon Fake Out, and it will kill all Ghosts that aren't Dusknoire or what have you. (Watch out for Gengar from now on, though, since in his Mega form, he'll be faster than Ambipom... Didn't used to be that way...)

Steel-types no longer resist Dark, which means Ambipom can use this flinch bitch technique against common Steel switch-ins as well. Also consider placing U-turn in his fourth slot, and call the shots on entries. But keep in mind that if you're up against an opponent that is faster than you, switch IMMEDIATELY (no U-turn), because Ambipom is a frail mo'fo and cannot afford to take most STAB hits. If you want to mimic my Ambipom build, here's the EV, move, and item build:

Item: King's Rock (or Razor Fang works)
EVs: Max Speed, Max Attack, Remainder HP
Moves: Fake Out
Double Hit / Low Kick (Fake Out and Low Kick in succession will always kill Tyranitar...lol. For now I'm stuck with Double Hit cause there is no tutor in-game to teach me the latter yet.)
Beat Up
U-turn

Anyway, let me know starting now, and I'll send you an Aipom!

How effective is Beat Up when you are using a flat battle and only have 3 Pokemon in your party? How do you manage getting low kick in Gen VI? There are no move tutors.

And I'll take one the of the Aipoms. The Ambipom I have now is of an Adamant nature and some pokemon that shouldn't be outspeeding him are.

My FC is 2466-2216-5674.

Not effective in the SLIGHTEST. You get only a 15-25% chance of flinch, but the real killer is that you hardly get any damage. Beat Up should only be used on a Lead Ambipom with a full 6 party. Each hit does about 15-20 BP, and it's useful when paired with his Technician ability 6 times in a row. Each hit can also Crit, so that's good. Also @ Low Kick, if you notice in my post, I'm forced to run Double Hit for now. Low Kick would be ideal but it's not possible...yet (PokeBank or Pokemon Z will change that). I've considered Power Up Punch, which he can learn. But...not sure how useful it'll be. He's not really a set-up Pokemon, switching in and now, so +Attack stage won't be all too useful. I'm looking for a Fighting-type move that has 60 BP (Which used to be Low Sweep, but in THIS gen they gave it 65 BP DERP!)

I'll add you next. :)

Added everyone who asked for a Marill. My trainer name is Boa Toh, so send a trade request cause it's hard to tell who's who sometimes with the ingame friends list.

So I'm sitting in front of Mewtwo thinking of what kind I want to get. Playing X, so I'd like to do something with Mega Mewtwo X, but I'm not sure if I should go for pure attack or mixed. Thoughts, PokeGAF?

Yeah, after seeing Low Sweep's new BP, I've been forced to run Power Up Punch. I've been using it to knock out Pokemon with low HP just to get a free attack boost. However, the first power up punch isn't going to be taking out people who are even 4 times weak to it, which sucks.

EDIT: I'd prefer a female with run away if you have them! I don't have access to an ability capsule yet.

I'm now in front of Xerneas and need a few tips before catching it. Any way to boost our chances of getting better natures or IVs?

Also, what's the best way of getting a dusk stone at my current progress in the game?

I can tell you that your IVs are something like: 29/31/31/26/19/31 from the stats up there. (Based off Serebii's Base Stats, Lv 50 with no EVs). The Sp.Atk IVs are OK so you could go special sweeper if you wanted (you have the speed at least).

Welp, finally got some stuff done.

Finally beat
Team Flare and their Ultimate Weapon
and got me
a Legendary
in the process.

BTW, for anyone going through
the Lab
.
Amulet Coin + Prize Money O-Powers = LOTS OF MONEY.

No joke, I was making like 20-26k on the big fights.
Think I probably pocketed 250k+ going through that part of the game.

Also managed to get a Japanese Ditto off the GTS for a freshly traded Amaura.
Time for Breeding!

I'm in bad need of an Aron but the only reasonable request on GTS is for a Magikarp, so off I go to hunt Magikarp, only I can't find one. Old Rod + water = shit tons of Magikarp, no? I've only caught Luvdisc so far, but I DID get a shiny Luvdisc out of this. 30 hours in, fastest I've ever caught a shiny in pokemon.
