New Ryse: Son of Rome story trailer [new footage]

This gif also has to be in it

Hahah, I still can't get enough of this one. Yes, pretty appropriate.

Did Crytek say anything if cutscenes will be Uncharted-style prerecorded videos here? It would be impressive if they're not, but it's hard to look past the fact that there's not a single frame drop any time they show a cutscene in the trailer, while on the other hand gameplay footage in this same trailer always has them (while not looking as good to boot).

They appear to be real time based upon a number of graphical artifacts in them. Also due to what Crytek has said and what they have done in the past.

I'm sure they're done in-engine, that's why I said uncharted-style. Those were also done in engine but recorded into video files, so they could do more visually, and load stuff in the background while the video is playing.

Yeah.. too good to be realtime.

Crytek.

Why would you want it to not be realtime? If this is what realtime looks like at the beginning of the generation, can you imagine what we will be getting by the end of the generation?

Can't imagine, but i bet eyes will be melted. Seriously though people should be glad this level of detail has been achieved real time, at launch, of the so called "underpowered" console.

Didn't the E3 beach demo transition from his speech right into game play? I can't remember for sure but it seems like it did.

Yeah, but those uncharted scenes have no aliasing and a number of infinite samples etc. These in Ryse have noticeable aliasing, sampling problems, half res buffers etc that you can notice, shadow flickering, etc....

They are in all likelihood real time. Otherwise they would get rid of those artifacts. Also, that 90% of the cinematics in Crytek games are not pre-rendered. They like to show their tech off in real time.

Indeed it did. Honestly i really don't understand why people are doubting Crytek all of a sudden. Isn't this how they've always done things or am i missing something?

Nib calling me a fanboy, now that is rich.(Pot calling kettle black much?)

Hahaha, yeah, that made me do a double-take, LOL.. Plenty bizarro considering his eye-rolling history. Anyway, he has some persistent balls on him, got to give him that.

Well, anyway, it's a shame the Xbox One doesn't come out here until next year, I'd rather play this game than some of the other exclusive rubbish.

Dude, you've been responsible for some of the most fanboyish antagonistic posts out there, and you talk about civility? Not necessarily just here either, but at N4G, Forza Central, Xbox One forums, YouTube and more.

It's weird to read posts like this coming from some of the staunchest proponents of such divides.

I know the gameplay has caught some flack but it looks solid to me. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on it.

Also, those GIFs:

So goooood ...

Yep, I share that opinion on the combat looking solid. As with anything, it's all down to how you play and make use of the play space. I'm going to be uploading a lot of videos using upload studio showcasing how good I feel this game's combat system can be.

Developer: Hmm I've always wanted to make something with a roman setting...

Internet: OMGee! GOW clone!

Which makes no sense.

Spartacus is doing well and so did Gladiator. It's a setting that doesn't get much play (I think there's MORE "after the bomb/apocalypse" settings currently than non mythological Roman/Greek settings).

(Although this IS crytek so I'm hoping we don't get a fantasy twist but I wouldn't be surprised by it)

Spartacus is over forever sadly :(

There was supposedly a leak a few weeks ago about Ryse medieval knights.

That would be awesome! Let's hope Crytek nails the gameplay and tells a compelling story so we can get more of this genre. I would love to see a Troy era one as well. Or Odysseus. Battle between Hector and Achilles as the main ending.
