Does anybody have a link to that website somebody linked a while back?

Basically you input your team and it listed each one in columns of types that the pokemon was strong against, as well as listing types your entire team was weak against. You could also include mega-evolutions of pokemon that have them.

So you've fished 6000 times, saw the start of the battle and ran away from it in 56 minutes? lol

Yeah, it's not difficult. Simple maths will tell you it's perfectly doable.

Look, I'm pissed off that this isn't working so I don't need your oppression.

Trace can be used for that role, but for the most part it's just a matter of memorization and guesswork.

Oh yeah good idea! I'm a pretty seasoned battler it's just in the friend Safari I don't want to waist my time trying to catch everything in hopes of a hidden ability.

One round of fishing (including the overworld animation, waiting for the battle to start, running away from the Pokémon, waiting for the overworld to load) takes 23.5 seconds.

The maximum you could have fished in 56 minutes is 142 times.

You're speaking shit, but you'll be excused because you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.

Anyone know if you have to beat the game in order to get more fossils? I'm 5 gyms in, and decided to go side-tracking for some other fossils, but 3 runs through the basement of glittering cave rock smashing, and nada so far.

Omg this fishing chaining works, roughly 40 bites later and I have a shiny Skrelp!! :D

So happy, it's my first shiny since Pokemon Pearl plus one I really like.

Yeah, you need to beat the Elite Four first. Although I believe you could get an Old Amber before beating the game, but I'm not too sure.

Well shit.

At least I got a mawile this time around, lol. Now to find a Kangaskhan before I bail out.

edit: Yay, just got one!

i didn't even know you could get more fossils! are you supposed to just find them in the glittering cave? sorry that i'm not answering your question about needing to be post-game to do it (i have no idea).

Look, I counted it myself. Don't tell me I'm speaking shit when I have more of an idea than you do about how long my chain is.

Why do you even care? What do you have to prove?

Nothing, that's what.

Yeah, you just rock smash all the rocks in the basement, I think it includes older fossils like the plant thing with suction cups and amber for aerodactyl.

The spot by where you got the first is supposed to be the best chance, but like I was answered, it can only be done post-game.

This is what I get for worrying that I might not find enough Pokemon for multiple playthroughs this gen. I'm just after gym 2, and I already have 4 spots in my party :lol

Fennekin
Pancham
Tyrunt
Eevee (Sylveon)

I'm counting on Skrelp, too, and I know that for X I'll use Binacle, Clauncher and Froakie, so hey. I might even have enough gen 6 Pokemon for a full Z team!

Edit: Scratch that, there's my Skrelp. 5!

Lol whatever dude, you will not ever get a shiny fishing. Good luck trying and 'counting'.

Yeah, just rock smash all the rocks available in the last part of the cave and switch screens to make them reappear.

The Gen I fossils are exclusive to Y (Omanyte and Kabuto), Gen III fossils are X exclusive (Lileep and Anorith).

It is hilarious how transparently full of shit you are.

wait, so how does the fishing tactic work? you get a chain of bites and the chance of shiny gets exponentially higher?

Yep.

No "not even a nibble", and no missed catches, and no moving. It helps to be south of Ambrette, in the square where 3 sides of the fishing spot are 'covered'.

Also, if you have suction cups on the poke in the first slot, that will help make sure that you get a bite, might not need the covering surrounding tiles then.

Can someone explain how chaining works and how I can do it? I hear you can chain with breeding, fishing, or using the pokeradar.

You need to find a special fishing spot. I did what they described on GameFAQs and found a spot that is closed off by rocks, deep water and the shoreline. Surfed out a bit, faced the rock barrier and then started fishing. Get a bite, flee from pokemon, immediately fish again. Repeat.

The first time my chain broke at 16, then twice at 7. Then I got lucky and it just went on and on for like 20 minutes. It must have been at around chain 30-40 when I got my shiny Skrelp. Am really happy. :D

It seems that way. In one of the older gens there was a thing called a PokeRadar which worked similarly. You used it in a patch of grass and it'd highlight tiles to step on, and if you kept stepping on those tiles and never breaking your chain eventually your shiny encounter rate would drop from 1/8192 to about 1/200. It was really difficult and time-consuming, though, because your chain could break randomly and you needed hundreds and hundreds of encounters to get there.

This seems like the same idea, but people are getting shinies after chains of 20 sometimes. I haven't seen anything yet, but I still haven't chained much past 30ish (keep missing the prompt with my slow-ass reflexes :P). I'm gonna get that Clauncher, though. I'mma getchoo, Glock Lobster!

hmmm interesting. i might try that out. are there any other known shiny strategies, aside from international ditto breeding?

20 minutes? Are you sure it wasn't a chain of 1500 battles?

I don't even get what you're trying to do here.

I'm breeding Larvestas trying to get a good nature... This is gonna take all day isn't it?

Breed it with a Ditto that has the favourable nature and have him hold an Everstone.

That is, if you have got a Ditto with a favourable nature haha. What nature do you want for Larvesta?
