In real world use that screen would be hit just right that it would shatter to pieces. lol

I dropped my iPod touch 2G once on the corner and it shattered the screen. Though I dropped my 4G the same way and it only pushed in the corner and made cases no longer fit so. (Of course then a few months later I dropped it flat on a concrete floor and destroyed the screen. Still have it too. Still works.)

I think this is their way of making sure people who care about having a good iPad get the latest one (and not settle for last year's, which could be "good enough".)

And the people who do settle for the iPad 2 give Apple a HUGE profit margin, assuming it costs much less to make now than it used to.
