Not really comfortable with drugs in general, but I'd be okay with pot legalization. Go after the more dangerous stuff, but put more focus on rehabilitation than prison.
It is impossible to OD on weed, I would argue that Tylonal is more dangerous.
Because weed is at the center of a massive lie that has been driven into our heads since forever by the government. Now that it is widely understood that smoking pot won't make you shoot your friend in the face on a whim and that just about every other negative thing we were taught about it is false, people are pushing back. The cognitive dissonance caused by keeping weed illegal and alcohol legal is too great for a lot of people to handle.I wonder why there is such an obsession with pot politics in this country.
why am i somewhat skeptical of this claim
legalize weed and ban guns. Within 100 years we will be ready for real life star trek: the next generation
Set Phasers to stoned
But yeah, all for legalization. However the alcohol industry probably will lobby against it.

Interact with another human being? Are you high?
If they legalized it, it would be a lot cheaper and people wouldn't have to smoke it. Companies could make vaporizer cartridges, beverages, or whatever.
Source? If true just make the same as regular tobacco and limit it to 18+. Wouldn't stop kids from smoking it any more than they do now though.
Actually thinking about it, let's just keep it illegal.
What you're going to get are a ton of people who smoke it going out in the public and smoking in places. And 2nd hand smoke can give others a high too. Some people won't mind, but I'd rather not go out on the town and wind up around a bunch of pot smokers anymore than I want to wind up around cigarettes or cigars (and I honestly love the law coming down on cigarette smoking in public).
Regulation isn't going to do shit either. People still smoke cigarettes where they aren't supposed to because they don't give a fuck-- why would pot be any different?
I don't like getting high, but I don't care if you do it away from me (and I'm not dating you, because smoking in any form is a huge turnoff).

I can only really speak to Seattle on this but this is definitely not the case. Why? Because everyone who wants to smoke is already doing so, regardless of legality, and whenever I go to Seattle there aren't tons of people just blazing up everywhere. 2nd hand smoke can get you high but you have to want it to and really get your face in it. In an open air environment it would be pretty hard unless you shotgunned it from someone.Actually thinking about it, let's just keep it illegal.

And that number will only go up as Washington's and Colorado's laws fully come into effect and people realize that the world doesn't end as a result.

Weed isn't a poison though
You are right but I think when people say "weed isn't poisonous" they actually mean THC.Yes it is. I'm fully in support of legalization but you're kidding yourself if you think inhaling any sort of smoke into your lungs isn't bad for you. Vaping is a much better option.

Have you ever smelled weed? Shit is glorious and it smells nothing like cig smoke. I've always wanted it to come in incense form so I could smell it without having to smoke it.
I have no issues with people smoking pot, but it smells awful. Let's not kid ourselves here.

Im pretty sure these guys are talking about the actual smell of the cured buds and not the smoke after burning. Completely different and yes the smell is god like. I love shoving my nose in big 'ol bag of budsicles.
BREAKING NEWS: People who smoke pot generally like the smell of it while those that don't smoke it generally do not like the smell of it.
Internet responds by trying to convince each another that the other person's opinion is the wrong opinion.
Brian Griffin specifically said "smells nothing like cig smoke."
No need to be defensive and obnoxious.
Sorry, I'm just sick and tired of the bullshit non-arguments that are so pervasive on the internet these days, but especially on GAF. I should probably take a break from the internet for a bit...
I wasn't even making an argument against pot legalization. I support it.
I just think it smells terrible.

Just because it smells better than two really bad things doesn't mean it actually smells nice.
Though I can only speculate that MAYBE I smelled it in the air before without confirming for sure, though given the amount of usage and the analogies I can believe it.
EDIT: And the smell is completely secondary to whether it should be legal or not, frankly just knocking the wind out of some of these cartels would be enough reason to me, nevermind how relatively benign it really is.
Remember when Obama was making fun of potheads and laughing at legalization like it was some absurd concept. I wonder if he's going to change his tune now.
It being illegal hasn't stopped anyone from smoking pot in public anyways - because just as you said for cigarettes laws/regulation doesn't do shit.
In an open air environment it would be pretty hard unless you shotgunned it from someone.
Wouldn't they just have to completely ban public weed smoking?
...fuck
*puts down crown of sonnets*

This is nonsense. There is no reason you can't ban one without banning the other. They banned drinking alcohol in public without banning drinking soda in public. This is a huge problem- if you ban it then you have to ban all smoking outside of your home including cigarettes. I see the cigarette lobbyists not liking that for one minute. And if you don't ban cigarettes, it'd be hard to enforce it and we're just back to people doing what they want anyways. Which apparently is normal in Seattle.
Maybe in a dose that's impossible to actually feasibly ingest
Nope. Actually it is not. There is no dose that a human can do which can kill.
Actually thinking about it, let's just keep it illegal.
