XBOne Version of NBA 2K14 Missing From Blowout Press Event, Confirmed Native 1080p/60

Considering that NBA 2K14 is the one of the best if not best looking next gen games I've seen, I'm going to remain skeptical on this one. It's pushing one thing or another, that's for sure.

NBA2K14 is a good looking tittle, but it is not in the same league than Ryse (in visuals).

Not played an NBA game since the PS1 days, is this really a big issue, are they big sellers in the US?

That NBA 2k game with Jordan on the cover sold gangbusters for months and months on end. It was probably the best selling non shooter game for ps3/360 that year.

If true, and both versions are identical, then they held back on PS4 or downgraded it, simple as that.

This whole console war thing reminds me. It's annoying that XB1 won't allow you to take screenshots like the PS4, so we would have easy proper comparisons out the wazoo.

Both of them running at 1080p / 60fps doesn't mean they look identical. The ps4 version could still have much better textures or animations or whatever and that may be why that was the only version shown.

So anyways, hoping that we end up getting some footage soon, I wanna see some gameplay and know chick modes they put in. I'm also wondering if we will get an updated commentary.

Last generation we seen the same arguments. Meanwhile any game on the XBox 360, PS3, PC and Wii showed various levels of performance. Which means I expect the same arguments this coming generation even though the Wii U will lag behind the PS4 and XBox One and the PC will surpass both the PS4 and XBox One.

I find it almost embarrassing how much arguing and comparing goes on between the XBox and Playstation consoles when you have multiplat games that are on lesser and superior hardware that show distinctive differences. Much more on the PC and Wii than the levels we seen between the XBox 360 and PS3, yet those two sides took almost all the attention.

I have seen a lot of multiplatform games last gen launching without a PS3 or X360 version being showed.

Recent example being Diablo 3 on consoles. Showed only on PS3 until near launch and then when it came out it ran much worse on PS3. It happens. But common sense leads me to believe the PS4 versions of multiplats are going to run slightly-to-moderately better, which is why it's my new main.

Do you know so little about graphics that you can't think of other improvements beside resolution and framerate or what is your point?

To be fair, if you read GAF lately then resolution is the only thing that makes graphics good, not polygon amounts, not texture quality, not special effects and partical effects etc, no just resolution, if its not 1080p then its not good enough it seems.

Accelerate 2 sports cars, same weight, from 0-60 at the same rate of speed, one with 180 HP and the other with 120 HP. One was held back, simple as that.

Texture resolution could be different. Just because both will be 1080/60p doesn't confirm that the game will look identical on both platforms.

Very curious. If they're indeed running at the same resolution/frame rate and the Xbone version is being kept hidden, it leads one to believe the game is lacking in other graphical qualities compared to the PS4 version. This shouldn't come as a surprise, really.

Maybe MS is taking a hands-on approach to helping devs get their X1 versions up to speed prior to gold status or, at least, getting things done in time for day-one patches, rather than paying publishers to keep another version back? I mean, doesn't that make more sense than some fanboy video game villain fantasy? Of course, we could wait to see if there's some massive drop in quality to match that resolution and framerate. I'm sure many are hoping that's the case now.

Or Proelite was correct. What if the issue isn't the games, but the console OS?

Well, what do you know? One of the most impressive games shown thus far is native 1080p at 60fps on both systems. And, no, I don't think there's anything wrong with why the Xbox One version wasn't shown.

Personally, I'm thinking a marketing deal of some kind. I know Mortimer says that's not the case, but I think that's underestimating how aggressively Sony is marketing the PS4. When they say that the PS4 marketing campaign is the largest in Sony's history, they probably aren't just dishing out hyperbole. Even I made a thread on how much I think the PS4 marketing is outpacing the Xbox One marketing thus far, at least from what I've seen on US television, and how much it surprised me. But it doesn't just stop there, folks.

Pay special attention to what Sony is doing. They appear to be doing more third party publisher/game specific deals now than I've ever seen them do before. Look at the big marketing campaign around Watch Dogs before it was pushed back, look at the way Assassin's Creed has gotten a spotlight on the system. That new Assassin's Creed US TV commercial with Drake's 'started from the bottom' opens up with the playstation logo and ends only showing the game coming for the PS4 and PS3. You've got things like exclusive additional gameplay, exclusive DLC, and it spreads across multiple games, even Destiny.

Before the first footage of the next gen version of this game was ever shown, it was officially labeled by the company making it as the debut of the first PS4 footage. That's not something you commonly see without some type of deal in place. They usually just say instead that you're seeing the next gen console version of the game for the first time, but it was highlighted as the PS4 version. Or am I mistaken about the company themselves saying that? Was it someone else who called it the PS4 version before the footage was ever shown, and not 2K themselves? Either way, doesn't matter, I suppose, but, trust me, if I even remotely catch wind that the Xbox One version isn't perfectly up to snuff, I can always cancel my pre-order for the game, and just grab the PS4 version later. I've got plenty of time to do that before the system launches, and the game has to be reviewed, on both versions, before the PS4 is out, since the game also launches with the PS4.

Yeah, I was just speculating on if they were identical in all ways I guess. We'll see.

the only proof is 2k actively choose to NOT show xb1 version, AKA COD and NFS.

since no proof , hence the concern and discussion. With less than 1 month from launch.

The only reason I think 2K would actively choose to not show the XB1 version was because of the deal that has seemed to make itself evident over the past few months.
