Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster - 12/26 Japanese release (for real this time)

I prefer the original. Oh well.

I dont mind the remix of the songs, I like it so far. the battle theme caught me off guard, but in this state, when were only focusing on the song it will strike as odd and not like it since were familiar with the one we know for 10+ years.

I prefer the original. Oh well.

It is better, especially the violin part.
But most people will say the originals were better because they are used to them and the game is strictly linked in their mind with the original sounds.
That's the risk when you're playing with nostalgia but decide to change things.

Eh, there's definitely more than a minor difference here, so preferences will form on how people want the music to sound.

With remastered audio like this, it would be nice if a toggle was included for original tracks.

Edit: I certainly agree that nostalgia plays a role.

I'd rather have them stick with only the remastered version. Nostalgia aside, hearing the track on playback when I'm playing will likely grow onto me. I do like the choice of violin in there.

Time to cancel my pre-order and see how this end. If there is no option to play with the original soundtrack i'll skip it until its %75Off.

Fuck this, i had such high expectations for this and now they ruined it.

Shit.

This is a nice version of the song, and it's not objectively horrible, but it *absolutely should not replace the original in-game*. Not the same mood whatsoever.

Nothing great but still something about the HD remaster.

I really like it to be honest. In my case though, I haven't played the original in almost a decade, so I'm open to most changes in the OST since I can't recall the songs in exact detail.

I also appreciate a lot that the people in charge of this remaster is taking risks like these. Some of us will not like most changes, but because of them some of us might also be pleasantly surprised by songs or redone visuals that we would have never gotten otherwise.

About the option to have the audio switched, I don't think it is that easy, even more so considering the space issues of the Vita cards at least.

--------------------------

On a different note, I've noticed that the Vita Twin Pack on Amazon JP has gone from 5-6 rank in the gaming category all the way to 70th place due to lack of stock (online retailers have a set number of pre-orders it seems, and they can't offer more until SE orders an extra print run from manufacturers).

http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/bestsellers/videogames/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_vg_1_1#4

What I wanted to know is: Is there a chance that Twin Packs might be limited in numbers and not too widely available? If that's the case, then I will pre-order it asap.

I don't know much Japanese, so I don't know if this is the situation on all online retailers in Japan or just Amazon. Anyone from NihonGAF who can check this please?

Space issue is one thing, but from a programming perspective, why would it not be "that easy" ? Besides, Square has already done it in the past, with IV.

I don't know anything about programming or such, but I'm guessing going by what they said in that interview a while ago (when they confirmed that there would be no option to choose between Japanese or English audio) that the main issue for any option like changing audio is that they want to keep parity between the Vita and PS3 versions.

(Check this video starting from around minute 19 or 20)

Although if this is related to space alone, perhaps they could offer the options as DLC?

There will be fucking blood if I can't switch to the original score, and if the rearranged version of "Crisis" sucks. Lots of blood.

Oh jeez, that is completely different and not in a good way. No thank you. There had better be an original soundtrack option, because that rendition just completely screws up the entire atmosphere. I kind of fear what happened to the rest of the soundtrack if they're okay changing a song as iconic as Besaid Island that much.

Yeah, I agree with this. The song is a tad too slow and emotional. It should be upbeat and joyful, as if you were jogging on a beautiful island on a bright and sunny day.

doesn't matter, the original song will still in your head while you play the game.

i really apreciate new arrangements (good or bad).

Oh my god, are you guys serious right now? The HD Remaster version sounds AMAZING. I mean look, I love nostalgia and all, but in no way has this new version mangled the original. It's just as good in a completely different way.

I know, opinions and all that, I just can't believe so many of you are acting like this new music is just utterly horrid or something... isn't that a bit hyperbolic?

Kinda agree.

At least, I really do like the new version (I like the old version as well). I think the violins are a really nice touch.

I really like the remix of the Besaid Island theme. Waaaaay better than the remixed battle theme. I wouldn't want to automatically have it replace the original, but if the HD collection lets you switch between the versions, that'd be ideal.

New version sounds great. Not terribly busy, and in fact is very quietingand tranquil. Gives off a nice island feel to it. I love it! Too bad I don't have a PS3 or Vita.

I just listened to the remixed battle theme and it sounds terrible

Speaking personal music tastes here, I think I prefer the new version mostly because the background periodic rhythmic part of the original is mostly absent, which I never cared for much. (difficult to describe what I am referring to)

Wasn't a fan of the arrangement... until that violin. I hope they go for rearrangements like this for all the tracks, anything to make me forget I'm replaying the same game for like the 4th time.

The RESOLUTION box is available for pre-order on Play-Asia. They're asking $399.99 (fuck that lol). bettor off buying another PS4

The more I listen to the new arrangements, the more I appreciate them as well. I feel they bring more novelty, like if they felt less monotonous than the original ones (not that the original ones were really that monotonous, it's just that I feel them that way when compared to the new tracks).

Not surprising, since the bundle seems to be a bit hard to come by. It is not available in Amazon JP for example (except for a few resellers that are already asking more than $400 for it).

Only X is getting remixes right? Or is X-2 as well?

X-2 as well iirc. Not sure to what extent though.

I'm actually glad the music is somewhat different with these arrangements. Going to enjoy the fresh take on it all, especially after hearing X's soundtrack so many times now.

X-2 isnt gonna get the remaster music. Only X.

They should just bring in Koda Kumi to endorse the game again <3

She wasn't big enough last time to really do anything with it.

I know which part you mean, and that's my favorite part of the song. T_T

Not good if they don't offer the OST option. As I said before I hope this isn't over some royalties issue which would prevent that.

What if they changed the faces, clothes, hair styles, and dialog of the characters with "new and improved" versions? Yeah, it's kind of like that. It's not going to be the same experience.

No, it's not the same. These are rearranged tracks. Improved versions of the originals. They didn't ditched the originals in favor of completely new music.

I think your analogy would be more apt if you actually consider they are 'improving' the visuals and making some changes in the process (like Tidus hair to name one for example) that they consider are better.

Hmm. I'm definitely enjoying this. It was always going to be very risky messing with a part of the game so infused with nostalgia, but it'll be very interesting going through it again with the remastered soundtrack. In a way, this will probably be one of the most impactful changes - compared to the updated graphics, I can imagine the new music doing more to make FFX feel fresh again.

Listened again... it's a good enough standalone remix, but it's too different from the original and really does not exude the same feeling. This is supposed to be a remaster, not a full-blown remake, and no sir, I do not like it. First definitely negative change I can point out so far.

EDIT: The violin feels really excessive. And the original's beat is practically nonexistent. Nope.

I think Winds Crest on the Japanese website was identical to the original version, can't check at the moment.

Can't under stand people wanting the original music. This is nothing but a good thing even if the tracks aren't as good. Make the game as new and fresh and you possibly can SE. I'm likely going to be putting in over 100 hours into it and the newer the experience the better.

Pretty much every non-streamed tracks from the original are being remade.

If you take out all live recordings from the original soundtrack (every hymn of the faith, piano tracks, acoustic guitar tracks, vocal tracks, etc.), you have about 60 tracks left.

I really love what Hamauzu has done with Besaid. It's sonically really improved, the original's piano sound was thin and the percussions were kinda weak whereas the soundset choices here are beautiful and very well crafted, just as with every recent Hamauzu production. He really mastered the mix of electronic music and acoustic instruments in recent years.

I'm quite surprised at how much he changed it though. The whole mood is different and I can understand why some will be disappointed.

I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest. I'm really curious about Wandering Flame... the original is just perfect in every way IMO.
