Arthur Gies is full of it. he does not know why there is an embargo on Xbox One versions. He is stringing people along with vague answers so they will keep retwitting him. End story.
 
Funny, when you build yourself a certain reputation it's difficult for people to distinguish if you're actually telling the truth.

If we go by numerous rumors, I'll say this is BS rather than true.

I didn't realize commenting here and there were mutually exclusive. I also wasn't implying that GAF doesn't have strengths, just pointing the strengths of Polygon that IMO make that community worth visiting.

Side question, is Polygon still owned partly by MS? What is the full relationship there? they usually $hit all-over Sony exclusive reviews, right?
 
It's probably a tactical thing to stop multi platform comparisons. Also to let the PS4 get the early bad reviews and media attention for the disappointing cross gen titles ("it doest really look next gen" type of comments).
 
The reviewers got as far as the creek in Shadowfall and have just been sitting there watching their screens for weeks. Productivity dropped to zero.

I like how the latest trend in game journalism is tweeting, "I just heard a MEGATON but I can't say anything yet!", which invariably leads to rampant and irresponsible speculation, followed by a reveal which is inevitably something minor or irrelevant.

Meanwhile, the insiders just post a thread and infodump everything up front.

In short, fewer journalists being spoon-fed tidbits by marketing/PR which they then dangle on twitter, and more insiders committing wanton acts of corporate espionage... please.

The industry as a whole needs to take a long, hard look at itself.

Journalism in particular doesn't seem far removed from PR, come on, make a name for yourself, do what journalists do in every other part of life, investigate.

I couldn't stomach that podcast after about the first 5 or 6 of them. I wanted to like them, just... couldn't.

Ironic considering his former co-host works for Sony.
 
Where there ever embargoes for one of the 360/PS3 versions of a game, but not the other? I don't remember any. That would strike me as very... suspicious.

People keep saying shit like this but he seems annoyed BY MS right now. I know he's not liked around these parts but it's like people aren't even reading, just "lololfanboy".
 
I guess this thread is as good as any to ask: have some reviewers received PS4:s yet or have the recent Youtube unboxings just been a short-term thing?
 
Responses coming fast and heavy, is it alright to point out the limits of forum interaction versus a structured commenting section? Is it alright to like Polygon and GAF? No need to be so defensive, I have an opinion, elaborated on why I prefer structured comments versus forums, and stated my impression that the palpable polygon hate is unnecessary IMO. I also stated that I was not aware Arthur's past activity as a GAF poster when making my original comment.

Not much info there, but 1 is worse than the other and after the cryptic clues from his tweets we will likely see some x1 vs ps4 videos, atleast thats how I read it, but his answers are in reverse
