3DS Streetpass Experiences

Wait what?! I won't get StreetPasses if X and Y are running? I didn't know you could disable the PSS.. just that there's a state where it's connected to the internet, and one where it's not. The former which wouldn't be much of an issue if you're moving around a lot anyways because it would be off.
The latter would prevent streetpasses (as internet is being used for wireless communication). Now this gets me thinking, does local multiplayer also do the same which I guess the PSS counts as when internet is off but passerby are present.

Just a heads up for those of us in the UK. It seems that the Argos Streetpass relays have stopped working automatically, and you now have to register your phone with O2 wifi in order to get that green light.

This, of course, dramatically reduces the likelihood of getting a Streetpass outside Argos, as you have to be pretty committed in order to sign up.

Compare: Walking past Argos with a 3DS, getting a green light.
To: Walking past Argos with a 3DS, hanging around to register your phone with O2 Wifi, waiting for a validation code, getting a green light.

This annoys me as I was getting quite a few hits there.

And of course, when I finally got that green light, it was myself (2nd 3DS) from a few weeks ago. (Warrior's Way army size was 300k, compared to the 1m it is now.)

Pretty sure local multiplayer prevents StreetPassing.

It happens a lot in local meet ups when people are playing Mario Kart 7 or Monster Hunter local multiplayer. You don't get passes for ages and then those people stop playing and you get 10-20 in a few minutes.

Ouch. Argos was one of the few relays in my home town.

Hopefully that isn't a sign of things to come with o2 wifi in general.

Well today I was playing some Pokemon X, had my PSS on but not in internet mode. I closed my 3DS to take a break and immediately got a StreetPass from the other 3DS in my house, so I'm assuming that having the PSS on, even without internet, will prevent you from StreetPassing, but I was wrong about sleep mode. Once you go into sleep mode you're good to go for StreetPass even if PSS was on.

Finished off two more plaza ticket goals: 5000 enemies destroyed in Mii Force and 300 monarches battled in Warrior's Way.

At this point to complete the The Dude's Wish job in Flower Town I'm basically letting a queue polinate a grown Squirrel's Ear and I reset the game if no one brings a short flower instead of having to grow yet another one.

I only need three more tickets in Mansion.

All weapons
All puzzles
Another ticket in a gold chest

I can probably get the last one soon enough. The others might be a bit beyond me.

Anyone know how to make gold chests more likely to show up? Only gotten one so far, and I'm pretty deep in plus I've had some pretty huge combo areas. Is it limited by floor?

I've been trying to do this single job for literally a couple of months. Holy fuck I hate that game so much now! Does resetting mean you can get the queue to re-water?
I've had the possibility of a short Squirrels Ear twice (50/50 with another plant) and the other plant has grown both times :(

This is the last ticket I need along with the 300 battles one but my love for Streetpassing has kinda gone now too.....

I have about 14 puzzles to go before I have all of Mansion's plaza tickets. I've done everything else. Weapons is not all that hard, there's only
40
in the game.

You have to create the room in one go. Draw out the room's outer edge without creating a 2x2 space along the way, so that filling in the middle with a single piece will create the room. (The largest room I've managed is on floor
41
, where I created two rooms of 21 squares by filling a circular room's edges then occuping the center with a +.) The only other trick is to play with small queues of Miis instead of large ones (so there is less chance of a person taking up a spot a chest would spawn in)

Resetting makes it so that queue never happened. You don't get to use that queue again, it's gone.

I should use the paint can to get the pieces I need to fill the big frames I have set-up.

I just need to remember to get them out of my inventory.

Home Depot was good again today. Ten relay passes on the JP 3DS and seven on the EN one.

Turns out my EN console received my JP console's Mii via the relay pass. I saw my JP Mii in Flower Town carrying a pot that I haven't had for quite some time. It also did two high-fives as I checked the line, so I'm guessing I SP myself before going to the store, then received the same Mii from the relay point, which overwrote my daily SP and gave me two tags.

I am on floor 20 of Mansion and I have never received a puzzle box. What is necessary to trigger their appearance?

When you create rooms, there is a chance of one of the Miis in your current queue appearing in place of a chest. If this is a person who does not also play Monster Manor, they will give you some gems - and if you have met them two or more times, they will usually offer you a puzzle box you have not yet solved. If the person HAS played Monster Manor, you will be offered a chance to team up; if you decline the teamup, you will receive a random item from their active inventory and if you have met them two or more times, you will probably be offered a puzzle box they have completed themselves, with their completion time set as your target.

Nice, I'll have to stop my Home Depot again when I get a chance. Maybe since they're newer locations, they actually have the newer "6 Tag" software version running (or however the heck that works)

The number of tags a location gives you is entirely dependent on how many Nintendo's server decides to give you. It has nothing to do with the wireless hardware on site.

If I'm reading my stats correctly, 43+ out of 438 passes have played the paid set of streetpass games.

Solid adoption rate.

Where are you seeing stats like that?

438 is the number of guests I have had according to Garden (I haven't used any coins to buy any guests).

43 is the number of Monarchs fought in Battle. I don't think that counts the monarchs I dismissed, so it's probably 50+.

Interesting, but that doesn't take into account people that only buy some of the games. A lot of people I've encountered only bought Mii Force or Monster Manor rather than the bundle.

I'm at closer to 1/3 if I use that methodology - I'm at 300 monarches battled and I've just been greeting peacefully since, which has only been for 10 or so people. Just shy of a thousand Flower Town visitors.

Question: Does anyone know if you can get multiple street passes for specific games when interfacing with a Nintendo Zone relay? Today I got 5 passes at once for the Mii plaza but only one got each for a handful of different games.

I've had the same experience. When I'm at McDonalds, I can get multiple relay StreetPasses for the Mii Plaza, but I'll get at most one StreetPass for everything else.

That's true. The numbers are a bit rough. I've only ever noticed people who have bought all the games apart from Garden.

Did you all seriously do the Nintendo Zone cheat? Does no one street pass by actually walking by people anymore?

I'm all natural.

Ok, tech time.

I happen to have 4 3DSs at home for the past couple of weeks (me and my host both have a launch day unit and a XL each)... you know what that means right? Streetpass galore. I've been getting between 9 and 12 puzzle pieces a day (3-4 pass with each system) and with a little prep time, feels like a puzzle-piece factory...

...but i've noticed something strange. Even though i try to keep everything synced (meaning, i do the checks on all systems at the same time), the XLs ALWAYS detect each other first... sometimes it takes HOURS between a XL and a regular 3DS to streetpass each other. I wonder if there's any difference in there, be it hardware of software, or do i just have "bad" systems? Interested to know if anyone else ever noticed something like this.

I'm legit. I got all the puzzles up to Rolling Western completed. After that its a hodgepodge. Got so many passes when I lived in Japan. Now I live in Germany and I'm lucky if I get some when I go out.

Other question, I know of the street pass relay if you supposedly pass a Nintendo Zone. Does anyone know if a US 3DS can tag a Europe Nintendo Zone, at least for relay? I've walked by the only one in town a couple times but never got anything, not sure if it just isn't working of if they're somehow region locked for that.

It works regardless of region I would think, since it's just the 3DS using the hotspot to talk to Nintendo's servers to handle it. I'm in NA and both my NA and JP 3DSes use the relays just fine.

Hmm. Only got one tag today from my local (to my job) McDonald's.

This system is so weird and inconsistent.

Edit: From the other thread:
Nice, just tried it, and it works. It did seem to take longer than normal, and then the light just flashed like it was getting 1 tag, but it was multiple at once. Yay!

Edit: went back to tag the same MAC address after 8 hours, and it looks like you can only get tags for systems that visited the relay since your last visit, which means people are still going to be lucky to get 1 tag from most Nintendo Zones, never mind 6. That's really stupid, because it basically gives me no motivation to visit infrequently used Nintendo Zones very often, and they'll just continue to be infrequently used.
I guess this is the most likely explanation.

I had previously assumed that the multiple passes I was getting from the same people had to do with me tagging the same relay pass more than once but I suppose it is more likely that this is just due to the same people continuing to re-visit the same McDonald's just as I have been. I really need to drop into more out-of-way Nintendo Zones to see if any of them have built up 6. My record for most tags at a single Nintendo Zone still stands at 5.

Cheated for all pink pieces pre-Pokemon. Might cheat again (only for battle) if emperor round 2 is like 8 million troops (I'll have at least 2 million when I fight him) and I might as well go the full ton and go for 300 monarchs (I'm ~20% there) and finishing all the tickets then I'll start over so I can ruining the game for local monarchs (I outnumber their troops by at least a factor of 5).

Why does no one have Pokemon XY pink pieces
I was thinking the same thing then my last queue batch (queue was full for over 2 hours too and I was doing lots of wandering round) had two.

Why does no one have Pokemon XY pink pieces
I attended NYCC and luckily they released the puzzle right at the start of the weekend. I was able to get all of the pinks in the first day and I finished getting the rest of the pieces last week.

It will take a little while for them to trickle out into the rest of the 3DS population. Just wait a few weeks.

got the "Finish Find Mii II Secret Quest 10 times" accomplishment yesterday. Thankfully, I only have one hat left to get from that game and then I'll finally be done with Find Mii II forever!

Sweet, Professor Layton 6 has streetpass stuff.

I know, right?

Also, I think I have half of the Pokemon pink pieces now. Just missing 5 or so more pieces now... There's a local meetup in a few days time, so hoping to finish the panel by the end of it : )

Bah stupid emperor round 2 with 4.18 million troops. I'm at about 2 million so very close to getting to the milestone of
needing to win 1 more time than him. Not sure if I have the patience to get another 2 million (to get to equal footing)...even if I find plenty of potential 4+ million people. I suppose in trying to get to 4 million+ I'll eventually win...

4 Pokemon passes but only 2 Miis.

Come on people, priorities.
Look it like this; it is not a Mii plaza hit with someone who has just started the software. Those are a determent to Puzzle swap, Mansion, Battle and arguably Quest and Garden (assuming it takes up those slots to achieve little, wow 1 troop, no pieces, 1 piece in mansion and can appear in rooms you make to give you a whole 10 gems).

I guess we all started off new once...

Got the last hat I needed in Find Mii II Secret Quest. Now if I can just finish the game off during this weekend (and get the rest of the puzzle pieces too)

Back in the days before the new Mii Plaza games I used to load in my puzzle pieces and then completely ignore Find Mii. I only started to get into Find Mii once the new games came out and I became more serious about only loading my street passes once I had accumulated a bunch. Prior to that it had seemed too cumbersome to jump into Find Mii with one fighter in order to do 3 damage to enemies with dozens of hit points.

Now that I have gotten gotten serious about Find Mii it is always sobering to realise how far behind I am. I only just recently fully completed Find Mii 2 and now I'm moving on to the secret quest. God, this is going to take like 10 play throughs. Thank god I have started to consistently get multi-passes thanks to the relay system.

I got really lucky and won
1 loss, 3 win, 1 draw. I went with the logic of if I win you'll pick my counter if I don't change...but its probably completely random
. Oh well, now the road to 300 monarchs...the other stuff should happen on the way...

Mansion is 4 team-ups, 40 puzzles, need to reach floor 30. That is about it, I think.

Streetpass squad is my main bane. A few stages with goals left which I find hard (I've done one of those blaster killed both at the same time gems...more to go, maintaining focus to do no damage is discouraging*).

Also find Mii secret quest...on my first time and yeah...this will be painful and drawn out.

*-I was going to do these first but it was getting annoying getting hit then having to suicide to try again...

Anybody got tips for the boss on floor 9? I can't seem to beat him :/
What is the battery recharge speed on your weapons (in inventory tap the > arrow). Worst comes to worst stick with one that has fast recharge and block (L button) whenever they attack. When you have a spare bar of battery; attack. The very minimum you'll do 1 damage. It might take about 20 minutes to win this way but it is not impossible...

If you can get an Ice weapon with charge capabilities it might be a bit quicker as you'll do more damage. Secondary abilities like shock can help too.

As for weapons, it is best to have a maximum of 3 in your inventory and level them up well (using other weapons to do so, if you think the weapons give bad EXP for the gem investment then sell those ones for gems instead) and when you get something better (faster charge, more batteries, better skill etc) use it as upgrade material.

Thanks for the help, I will try that out once I get home.

And surprisingly I got the meet 5 girls in a row accomplishment today :D. I thought that one would be impossible lol. The only hard one I can see now is the get 100 people in a day...
