3DS Streetpass Experiences

I may or may not have chosen to eat lunch within range of a Nintendo Zone. Just because.

Got Aonuma (presumably) waiting at my plaza gate. Unfortunately, in the last week or so my L trigger has completely died, even worse than my R trigger which still works about 5% of the time. Fights in Monster Manor are particularly difficult when you can't block...

Not sure what game is that on my last streepass from a Japan tourist

There's now a Pokemon X & Y Puzzle available. I doubt I'll get any extra pieces of that tonight (I'll be surprised if I do).

Thanks to the Pokemon XY event in Toronto, I got my record breaking streetpass in 1 day. I got at least 80 streetpass. 12 puzzle pieces left and I'm done with all the puzzles :D

I have about 6 or 7 already... but no pink pieces. bloody new puzzle. I had them all!!! lets see what these 4 streetpasses have for me. sod all I'm betting.

AONUMA FROM NINTENDO DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A PIECE FOR ME???

DO MORE STREETPASS AONUMA.

Got plenty of tags during the night thanks to Pokemon midnight launches. Things didn't go perfectly as I had planned so I missed on some extra tags

edit: And thanks to the Aonuma Special Mii, I got the 10 Special Miis accomplishment

Streetpassed 12 people today and no one had downloaded the new Pokemon puzzle yet. Goddammit, 12 people, 0 new pieces, lol. At least they now have the Pokemon puzzle thanks to me.

Blarg, new panel. Now it made it harder to complete some of the ones I need to finish (463/721 now). Wonder how many people from college will have it downloaded. Would help if some people who never have new pieces would have some from the Pokemon X/Y picture.

So Aonuma is exclusive to StreetPass relays? I got my first set of 6x SPs this morning, as well as a gold pants Mii, apparently. Haven't checked the plaza yet though.

Yep, Aonuma is exclusive to StreetPass relays and also has country restrictions. Apparently you need a 3DS set to North American countries, even if you tag a North American Nintendo Zone.

I guess him having no Pokemon pieces proves that he is not coded to have all pieces of all puzzles ever but only released ones...then again maybe that is a limitation from the old days when you could see pieces for panels you lack (worst downgrade ever, yeah I'm seeing ??? where Brain Training is, whose fault is that, NOE)

Is it not out in Europe? I had no Spotpass notifications yet.
Its out in the UK. I got a spotpass a few hours ago. Let's see what I got...

Bah, blue piece. Now at...614/905.

Btw, does the bird carry a pink piece when you get a puzzle and start off with one?

Went to Barnes & Nobles yesterday and got 5 street passes. :)

I'm going to go out today and drop by some McDonalds and such to see if I can get more.

Got my 100 street passes in one day achievement from the Pokemon event yesterday in Toronto. It was non-stop street passing for over an hour lol

Same here, haha. After checking out the demo, I just sat there and StreetPassed till I got the achievement. Feels good man. Last time I had the opportunity to get so many was at the Zelda concert in 2012, but I fell short.

There was a Nintendo Communities panel at New York Comic Con, made by multiple groups such as StreetPass NYC, StreetPass Long Island, Pokemon DS NYC, and The Pocket Players (A Web blog dedicated to handheld gaming). You could check it out right here.

Finally got to puzzle box #31 in streetpass mansion. Annoying how I set up 3 Miis to appear in rooms and two of them have puzzles I have already completed (I thought it was not supposed to do that). It was nice how
the music has changed
.

Weirdly enough streetpass battle has been my play coin drain (though I'd never say that) as it is the quickest game. Only 8 countries away from the crappy emperor fight (by which time I'm bound to have >1 million troops which could make it worse
given how few coins buy getting to a point that it is fair will be near-impossible but I don't want to lose my progress on the stupid battle 300 monarchs ticket
, I might go back to the dark side of spoofing MACs when I reach that point).

The updated relay limit is such a godsend. I now get 10 passes per day while walking home.
Meanwhile in Europe *tumbleweed*

It's nothing like Puzzle Swap duplicate piece bad, but they do have old puzzles in the Mansion, as you saw. It seemed to come in waves (i.e. a few new ones, then a few old ones, then more new ones in a row) for me.

Are you guys encountering people who have also played Monster Manor? In my experience those will always give you puzzles they've completed, with their completion time set as par. I can't recall a non-playing Mii ever giving me a puzzle I had already solved.

I really wish Aonuma showed up in a room when I had him in the queue, though it was neat that he had five puzzles AND gave a gift. He also had 2000 warriors to give me in Warrior's Way, and I'm told in Mii Force he actually spawns a shadow wingman.

Just beat StreetPass Mansion!

The real ending too.

Aww, was hoping for more floors, not a new game+.

The non-haunted castle looked nice too.

I've gone through multiple Nintendo Zone locations yesterday and today, and I've gotten no Streetpasses at all. I got one when passing an actual person, but none from Nintendozones...

Is this just me? Has anyone gotten 1-6 SP from a Nintendozone spot yesterday or today?

In order to get Nintendo Zone streetpass relay to work you can't be in an active game. To put it another way, you can't just be in the middle of a game and shut your lid. You actually have to quit out of whatever game you're playing so your 3DS is displaying the home screen only.

This is in contrast to normal streetpass which will work if you just shut your lid while you are in the middle of a game.

Edit: Having just typed all of that out, I can't actually confirm 100% that this is true. This is just something that has seemed to hold true for me since street pass relay started. Can anyone else comment on this?

I can't comment if a game is the active application but I've never had an issue with relays with Streetpass Mii Plaza itself being active.

I've have yet to hit a relay anywhere in my area that's produced anything for me. Makes me sad. And I usually just have my system on the main screen when I'm out. :/

Okay so Pokemon is practically a waste of a streetpass slot (but I have nothing better to put there) and the same functionality could be done without it. Also, it took me ages to figure out that it was the PSS screen holo caster I should have been using to see the updates and the not the holo caster in the key items.

So what does it do? Gives you, I think 1 Pokemile (can't think what else PM is) for players you pass (you also get these for trading, many more from my experience)...so why do I think this can be done without? In Fire Emblem I seem to get teams when I get non-Fire Emblem passes (as in the game is generating them based on my game progress*).

*-Fire Emblem stuff
Seems to be characters I could have met, now that I'm in endgame I'm seeing lots of children for instance while in earlier chapters I saw none

The bolded is why I now always team up with other players (as rare as they are, few people seem to have bought the bundle even...maybe because of how badly Nintendo advertised it). The Miis in the room who gave me repeat puzzles were for sure non-players (I mentioned it as I too thought they were always new puzzles).

How I understand it is some software can not have internet mode active while running (if you've pressed home its not running). They may still have streetpass mode active. An example is 3DS sound. If you are listening to MP3 you can receive streetpasses from another 3DS (notification light works as if on, flashes and goes blank) but not Nintendo Zone. If you are on the menu of that but not listening to anything I think it works. My guess is that the MP3s are reading from the SD card so internet is disabled to prevent attempts to write to the SD card?

It means I generally avoid visiting my near Nintendo zone as having to open my 3DS and hit the home button is hard to do covertly. Ironically, the 2DS might be easier (slide out of sleep, hit home, hear ding, done reverse direction after finished with NZ).

I got around 400 pokémiles with 9 streetpass tags.

While we're talking about potential street passes. Just curious how playing original DS games work. Was planning to finally tacky Dragon Quest 9, and is the first DS game I'm playing in the system.

I would think it wouldn't work, but then I've gotten a couple tags from people saying they're playing a normal DS game.

Got like 200 something street passes at Anime Weekend Atlanta. It was epic. Best I've gotten since then is 10 at a local festival.

I'm happy that in my new school I can get at least 10 streetpasses a day guarantee.

I just tried going through them and got 7 more. It's crazy now I can get constant streetpasses when I go out I love it.

On a separate topic, I'm definitely curious to hear about how people have been interacting with street pass relay since the upgrade to 6 occurred.

There are many street pass relays around me in general (I live in NYC) but only one that I actually go by in my normal daily/weekly schedule. And the 3DS traffic there is pitiful.

So far I have done 3 relay street passes. In those three passes I have gotten 3 mii plaza visitors, 3 again, and just this morning I got 4. It is almost unbelievable to me that only 4 unique 3DSs have passed through that McDonalds since the relay system started.

The interesting consequence of this has been that I am now starting to benefit from getting multi-pass bonuses in the various Mii Plaza games. I have never gotten that many multi-passes in the past. I recently restarted Find Mii 2 in order to finish off those hats and I was able to breeze through most of the game with these few passes from these relays.

If the game is running in any capacity, Streetpass functionality is completely disabled. You must exit to the home screen if you want to Streetpass.

The game played that you send out is just literally the software most recently launched.

I've been having a weird issue. I'm not getting street passes. It's been happening for about four days. I still get street pass data for Monster Hunter and Resident Evil, but not Animal Crossing.

If someone were to ask me, I'd barely know that upgrade even happened.

I swear, the only people with 3DSs at the relay on my walk home from work must be this ONE ASSHOLE and myself. Every time I DO get a hit from there, it's him. And that's it.

I get somewhere between 1 and 6 streetpasses every day when I take my 3DS with me to college. Also, on occasion I'll get a random streetpass here or there when I'm sitting at certain cafes. Pretty fun to check. I haven't been keeping up with the puzzle stuff though.

EDIT: Also I'd say about 90% of the people I streetpass are playing Pokemon X/Y. Most seem to have Y actually.

Pokemon streetpasses don't seem to do anything.

Could this be some kind of bug? Game Freak seem to have had a few problems with other parts of the game. Should there be some kind of menu where you can see who you have met?

Anyway, I passed 500 passes overall this week. Woo.

So, I tried "brute forcing" Streetpass out yesterday -- I took the MACs of about 10 local Nintendo Zones (ones I've actually passed in real life), and tested transmission times... it looks as though it takes at least 2 minutes to successfully complete SP exchange now, whereas it was shorter in the past.

Also, I ended up with a SP hit from a WayForward programmer... either he's visiting relatives in my city, or fooling around with out-of-the-area streetpasses.

I've been having this problem this week too. Monday my mother went by a few relay points and got like 6 total passes (4 of which had Pokemon X/Y as their last played, so it was clearly recent data.) Wednesday we both went by the same spots together and neither of us got anything. Same thing happened again Thursday. At the very least I think I should have gotten the people she got Monday if nobody had been there. We gave it a good 5 minutes at some of the locations I'd say. I was almost convinced that NOA had shut down the relays temporarily. My area sucks pretty bad for StreetPass in general though.

Apparently my local Home Depot store is now a relay point. I went there yesterday and ended up with 10 tags on one 3DS and 9 on the other, plus four Animal Crossing and a Pokemon tag. I spent about 20 minutes there (since it takes so long to figure out where something is located in a place like that).

My consoles were at the Home menu and not in game-suspend mode.

Go to the Holo Caster in the PPS area.

People give you PokeMiles, which you can use as a coin in the Global Link site to buy even stuffs like Rare Candy
