Does in-game play time increase when in sleep mode?
(If anybody can also answer if the Activity Log counts sleep mode also, that'd be great)

After catching two shiny Basculin on rt 21, I thought I was ready for my Dratini.

I chained hard

And then after all that (about 100 minutes), I find this nonsense!

QOA4icUl.jpg

And I think, Okay, I'll just catch this and stop for the day.

This motherfucker.

Premier balls: 90 to start
Fail fail fail fail fail... 70 balls left

Now he's using double-edge too much. I can't even false swipe a pokemon like this.

I switch to dive balls, since I have 19 left from the fisherman.

He's got red health.

Jumps out on first wiggle.

Uses double edge.

fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckfuck

it survives!!

Throw dive ball....

WHISTLING NOISE!

CRITICAL CAPTU- .... what?!

FAILED

It appeared to be caught!

Just a heads up that I still have some Mawile left to give away! 2 Males and 5 Females left. All have Adamant nature and Intimidate ability and 4 perfect IVs in any combination of HP, SpD, Spe, Att, Def.

PM me if you want one :)

Just killed a shiny crabby T_T

The best way to not kill shiny pokemon is to have a member of the honedge family on your party and give it false swipe, the can take more than a few hits and are immune to most recoil moves so the wild pokemon won't kill itself after its HP drops to one.

While hunting for Larvetas in the safari I came across this!

And according to the judge it has superior IV and perfect IVs in HP and Defense! Too bad it has calm nature. I really better find a swarm of synchronizers so I can raise the odds of getting shiny pokemon with good natures.

Aw that is sweet, though ideally you would want perfect IVs in spd, sp.def and sp.attk.

IV training...

I quit pokemon in gen 4 because of it. I still cant wrap my mind around spending hours trying to get good iv's to raise pokemon. My "games are supposed to be fun, you have better things to do" signals go crazy every time I take a shot at it, but I LOVE competitive battling.

I am sad :(

How much does evolution matter? Would it be foolish of me to think I can beat the elite 4 with half my party still on their first form as long as they're leveled? Trying to beat the game with the old school Ash Ketchum party.

You can beat the e4 as long as you strategize and level enough, yes. Move sets will matter.

You will have to plan well I was able sweep past two elites with
surf and thunderbolt thanks to type effectiveness.
If you level and play smart with the move sets and items you can probably pull trough.

Thanks for the Mawile, Ramyeon! Hope Larveta was a good enough compensation.

You can have a pokemon hold an evolite to boost their defense.

So is there any way to teach Happiny/Chancey/Blissey wish in this?

As far as i know from what i've read there was the Wish Chancey that was given out in 2004 and apart from that one there was no other way upto BW2. Haven't found anything about X and Y.

My team just got swept by a Diggersby. I had no idea he had Huge Power. Is that 170 base attack? And he learns earthquake. God damn.

Edit: Never mind. The stats I found were overestimated. Its base attack with Huge Power is 112. Still pretty good.

Looking at the map, it really looks like there should be a path with a town connecting Vaniville (or rather, route 1) and Camphrier. Maybe they're saving it for Z.

Kinda hoping now for Z to be a full sequel in the vein of BW2. XY are amazing (man oh man) but it does feel a bit lighter than usual, probably because of the jump to 3D.

Ha ha. That is awesome.

International Romance. Breed 2 pokemon of different regions (Eg: Pikachu from an American game, Ditto from a Japanese game) and the chances of getting a shiny egg increases from 1/8192 to 1/1365.

Oh. Anyone got a American Ditto I could take? D:

Is there any other method? People seem to be getting Shiny Pokemon much easier now.

Wild encounters seem to be more common. That said I've been playing for 130 hours and not seen a single shiny. There's also the chain fishing but that only works for pokemon you can catch with a rod.

I see, thank you for the help.

Do you have a spare Ditto by chance? :lol

I hatched close to 100-150 eggs using a Japanese Dratini and a female Spanish Dratini for some and a Spanish Ditto for the rest.

Don't get your hopes up, that's still 0'07%.

First Shiny. A Horsea. Modest nature, which isn't bad, but only above average potential and one max IV in speed.

What is the appeal of shinies if you can't use them without giving up them being well bred?

Aw man. :(

Okay, one more question.

What is IV and EV training?

Whenever I do some training in the Super Training, it states that I got like "+4 speed!" but that never appears in my stats? How does it work?

Also, when catching Poke's, what am I looking at? Nature wise, potential wise?

Nope sorry, I don't really use Ditto for breeding.

And yeah the Masuda Method will still take ages. I bred literally 5 boxes full of Chespin before giving up, I'll never do it again. Breeding for IVs is at least interesting and rewarding lol.

Your best bet is to go read up on some wikis tbh. That's a lot of stuff to explain and it really differs from pokemon to pokemon what you want and what you wanna get out of them.

Alright, thank you.

Still making no sense. xD

The safari also seems to have a much higher chance of meeting a shiny Pokemon. I caught two shiny pokemon there in a couple of hours.

So when a shiny Pokemon pops up in the wild is there a chiming or something? or do we have to keep an eye out for a different color only?

They sparkle and have little music note when they first appear on the "wild ????? appeared"

Okay guys, thanks to some trades I made I was able to easily breed an Adamant Marrill with 5 perfect IVs in Att, Spe, HP, SpD, Def and Huge Power with Aqua Jet, Belly Drum and Superpower.

As a result. I have half a box full of Marrill with at least 4 perfect IVs out of the above mentioned, all Adamant and all with Huge Power, Aqua Jet, Belly Drum and Superpower. As for gender they're about half and half. PM me if you want one as usual :p

Thank you Ramyeon! :D

Okay, my goals are:

1) Obtain a non-European Ditto

2) Catch an Eevee and keep egging for shiny. (shiny Leafeon pls)

3) Keep egging Zubat for pink shiny.

Could anyone sort me out with the Ditto?

Aw man haha, I made a huge mistake. Some stupid lucky Ice Beam froze my Sylveon, so I got upset and sweeped her entire team with her. Now my Sylveon is 3 levels higher than everyone else! :lol I won't be able to use her until the league...
