Man, my lighting techniques are pretty rusty u.u
Oh well :P

Bill keepin' it real! Saying "anybody that can press Z can win with items on" is really underselling the strategy and tactics that go around items.

Like Bill I can understand why people turn it off but Smash is best with items IMO.
Yup, anyone complaining about thrown items just sucks at catching them. Don't know if its already possible in Melee, but with Brawls airdodge catching thrown items actually is the safest way to deal with them imo

It was possible in Melee, it just took more skill.

Smash is a lot funnier with items on, and is pretty fun with or without them imo.

The games are a lot more intense when they're off though.

All I'm saying is that I want more options in regard to items in this game. At a certain point, I should be able to toggle what Pokemon can come out of Pokeballs, what assists come out of Assist Trophies, and so on. That legendary Pokemon event in Melee was the best thing ever and I want to be able to fight my friends under those conditions.

The homebrew community got you covered. All hail Ocarina codes.

But yeah, it would be awesome to have this kind of control without resorting to cheats.

I agree, and I also think items are fun, but if you're playing as a test of skill the can't be in, Poke balls can be thrown, and they are just pure luck.
When I have friends round we use items because they're fun, but they're silly for competitive games.

I think the previously mentioned "5th player" concept would be a really cool way to mix up the Item game, with them being able to see the playing field on the Wii U gamepad and spawning Items as they wish and playing God by tapping where it should spawn on the screen.

It could also be used to activate stage perils and the like as well. If you wanted to get really crazy, they could even distribute stocks as they wish between players as they see fit, among other things. That's something I do like about the Wii U Gamepad, though I don't have one yet, and you would also require 4 other players, and wad of cash to afford all the controllers...

Or, you could have a mode where you control Master Hand and/or Crazy Hand for ultra-5-player madness.

I want to apologize in advance if I got some of you hyped but just keep it in your mind.

We already heard rumor and speculation that we might get Nintendo Direct next week before Second Quarter Earnings Release which got scheduled on Oct 30. It's low chance of it happening but I think it's still possible that we could get Nintendo Direct next week.

We already know the fact that we heard a rumor about Little Mac, Pac-Man and Mii are coming to SSB4 as playable characters, but it's possible that might be just lucky guess or red herrings along with other three leaked characters. My point is that if we are getting Nintendo Direct soon then it might be good time for them to show us the newcomers soon as possible since we are getting their games next week.

Pac-Man is coming out for Wii U on Oct 29 for North America, but there is a problem. The problem is that it's not coming to Europe or Japan from what I remembered so that might make it low chance for Direct and Pac-Man to happens.

Wii Sport Club is set to be release to Japan on Oct 30th, and to Europe/North American on Nov 7. Of course, it's possible that we could see Mii being announced as well as we hope to see.

We know that Little Mac is main protagonist for Punch-Out ever since NES. Anniversary is coming up for Little Mac very soon. We are aware that Punch-Out NES got released during Oct 1987 in Japan and Nov 21 1987 in USA.

Do you think it's possible that we could see those 3 characters for next Direct somewhen next week or two weeks. I sincerely hope so but I wouldn't dare to get my hope high since Nintendo is all about UNPREDICTABLE.

Would you dare to jump on Hype Train for no reason? And here we go.

Is the latest Naruto game on Wii U?

I was wondering why this was on the first page tonight lol.

You can catch thrown items in Melee with or without air dodging by pressing Z. You don't see it often but there are some players who are extremely good at catching Peach's turnips mid-air when coming back to the stage (like Axe with Pikachu).

But catching items isn't the best argument for keeping them on whatsoever lol. That's really undermining the impact items as a whole bring to the game, not to mention what the actual reason for banning them was in Melee (being unable to turn off explosive capsules/crates).

But even with that reason, there's several other strong (and valid) reasons for turning off items for tournament play for all three games. Sakurai has yet to make items that aren't for pure chaos. Until he designs items to be less chaotic and more controllable (and I'm not talking about the random spawns alone, I mean things like insane knockback and damage that they cause and their overall intent and purposes) for the players, I don't see tournament organizers willing to experiment with items on just like last time around. There wouldn't be a need to if they're still going to be chaotic in design.

Am I the only one that wishes this was real? Meowth is the closest thing to a rival that Pikachu has for the pokemon series. I think TR's Meowth would be a fun character to have playable, and given all their robots and inventions he could have a pretty good moveset aside from whatever a meowth can actually learn.

Random spawn locations is also an issue. If an item spawns, it could spawn really close to a player or maybe one character doesn't have enough speed to get there fast enough.

I've been crying for Meowth for forever now. He's one of the oldest Pokemon that's still heavily marketed and he made it to number 5 on Japan's list of most popular Pokemon.
