Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

So yeah, Batman isn't that bad at all. Native res, rock-solid framerate and a very open environment with minimal hand-holding. It manages to capture the feel of Arkham City/Asylum on a 2D plane, but definitely is distinctly a handheld game.

So far, I'm having fun, but despite what I said above, I hesitate to call it "great". I'd say it's a solid 7/10 based on what I've played (which might change after I complete the game).

Beware the Batman looks weird in this environment, lol.

It's a PlayStation exclusive bonus if you buy Arkham Origins on PS3, and Blackgate on Vita.

Need exactly 15.09 to spend to reach 50.

I am planning to get Lone Survivor but this is just *bloody* fantastic, ain't it. I mean, the date where Lone Survivor gets to a discounted price is the exact same date the spend 50 gets 10 promo ends. So I can't get the discounted Lone Survivor to add to my tally towards 50.

Bloody hell.

Shoot me recommendations people. For Vita only and preferrably not that will have any discount any time soon. I currently have 23.73 to spend. How's Hot Shot Golf?

You actually get a couple of hours to buy lone survivor. The deal runs until the end of the day, but the update comes in the middle of the day.

I'm addicted to destiny of spirits the first game that has ever killed my Vita battery...

I almost gave away my beta code before I downloaded it. I remember seeing a few seconds of the game highlighted at E3 and I was like, "What is that stupid shit and why are they wasting my time."

But wow, it does have me a little addicted atm. I'm still relatively early in, but I'm already at a point where I'm sad to think we will probably lose our progress when the full game launches.

Wasn't interested in Destiny of Spirits but all the positive feedback here has persuaded me to at least give it a shot. Downloading it now.

Batman Blackgate is a good game.
It has the same feel as the other Arkham titles.
There's alot of exploring to do and the game progresses at a good pace so when your'e backtracking you should find new things to do on the way.

The combat is very similar as well, it moves at slow pace and is very rewarding when you manage to do the combos.

Graphics wise it's good, not killzone good, but good. it feels 30fps locked at native res
and looks sharp and polished, I didn't experience any slowdowns and the loading times are good.

If you like the Arkham series then you should buy it, Aramture studios did a very good job there.

Its doing you a favor

Come on, man, it's not that bad. It's pretty good for a F2P, you are not forced to buy everything...

And that's why I'm (relatively) excited about that game. If it sold 1,5 million in a platform like the PSP ( and most of the sales should be from the 1st, which have the camera bundled, the other could be simply downloaded).

If something can save the Vita in Europe this year, is not KZ, is that thing xD

It was announced back at E3 during the 3 minutes the platform had on stage. The box art is new I guess.

And there isn't a single gameplay in the Internet for us to see. I'm expecting something a mediocre port. And GoW is not something that I could stand at sub-30fps. I hope it's decent.

Man, Sly Cooper is pretty crashy now after beating the game and trophy hunting, mostly when doing the arcade games (which are all awful btw). At least 4 times in the past two days.

2.) Wifi + Uncharted golden, Assasins creed liberation, Disagea 3, Dragons Crown +8gb memcard - $186

3.) Wifi + Uncharted, Asphalt + 32gb memcard - $198

4.) Wifi + Soul Sacrifice + 32gb memcard -$152

5.) Wifi/3g - $140

Which one should I buy? All are 2nd hand BTW. It all has warranties though.

I'd say 4, if you have PS+ you can download immediately Uncharted, Gravity Daze and Oddworld's Stranger. The 32Gb memory costs alone 50+ bucks, that's a hell of a deal. I'm jealous I had to pay €120 for my used Vita now :(

Well, the Wifi + SS + 32gb seems the best for me.

The 1 has some a small card, and some games are forgettable. But, CoD Vita is being sold for around 35€ right now, so you could get some money trading it (KZ:M is more than enough if you want a MP shooter).

Buying Uncharted: Golden Abyss is unncesary since you can buy 1/3/12 months of PS+ and get that game.

If you have an smartphone, you can use your mobile as a portable wifi hotspot. You can MP most games using 3G, so paying it for browsing and not much more is silly. If you don't have an smartphone, you could think about it.

Soul Sacrifice is a pretty good games, and for that price is awesome. I've got my Vita (used) + 16gb for 120 euros, but that deal is even better.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the answers. I would probably get this by tomorrow if I bought it now. I also got a good deal with a year of PS+ being $30. I would probably buy a few years.

I'd go for option 4. 32gb cards are still expensive, Soul Sacrifice is a must buy, and 3g isn't really worth it, especially considering how easy it is to tether to your cell phone connection.

Edit: Probably should have read a few replies that said exactly the same thing as me before posting :/

If you mean the online pass then yes, as it's way better online, but you can buy it off of PSN for $10. Or play solo.

After the announcement that the online pass was dropped, Sony could have make old online passes free...

Still, the SS deal is the best, imo.

Yeah, that's my exact opinion too.

Just finished the main Escape Plan scenario. Loved it. Whats great is that I've got the two free lots of DLC they put out, Bakukis Lair and Asylum (limited freebie) to go through.

I'm extremely tempted to buy the rest, anyone got any opinions to share on Underground and Directors Cut?

How is Destiny of Spirits different than say, Bahamut or Blood Brothers? I think I have a Beta code but it's probably at work. :/

Just from what I've seen, it looks like your standard social game, but seems like some people in this thread like it.

Same here. :) At first I tough it was some kind of trading cards game and was like "what's up with all the buzz around it". But after all the positive posts on here, I went ahead and downloaded it. Had some problems with the location data thingy, but after I managed that, the game looks really promising. The cool thing is that you can play it for just 10-15mins at a time, or spent hours on end. Which is always a big plus for handheld games in my book.

The only negative thing I have for few hours of play is that the white background loading screen is killing my eyes in nighttime... and my screen brightness is all the way down.

Quick GAF, Fate/Extra or Growlanser? I decided it is gonna be either one of these.

Reviews from those who have played any or both of them?

Don't know about the other, but Fate/Extra is much like the Persona games, so as a Persona fan, I'd go with Fate/Extra.

I finally found time to check out the new Vita in person. It's very glossy, but it looks and feels much less cheap than I expected from seeing product shots and photos online. I'm never giving up my OLED screen, but it's nice to know that the Vita is still premium hardware.

I hope you don't mind some screens of vk3 :)
Obviously on vita they are better and if you can look at them at full resolution, for some reason they look better imo.
Here some WORLD EXCLUSIVE shots(lol, the sad thing is that's true, you won't find shots of these locations anywhere) of previously locked castle locations(others are still locked)

Prisoners in a castle that is already a prison? Well i won't spoil anything

some more common screens(the drawing distance is awesome! Absolutely no popup for ambient elements, i can see little white glowing points from great distance! Enemies instead are rendered closer, but still far)

Anyway i have finally opened my eyes, you guys are right, the character design is ugly :(

Personally, I like Fate/Extra more. Growlanser has an extensive customization and multiple endings though. Fate/Extra has 3 endings/characters while Grownlanser has a lot.

I just posted those shots because i wanted to, i'm not trying to say that vk3 is a good looking game, but imo not even that bad like people wants to think, its graphics are serviceable, not at ps3/vita level obviously but not even that offensive like some people seems to think.

nr4 it's not even a contest (even without online pass for soul sacrifice)
anything less than a 16GB card you'll end replacing anyhow (and then never using the old card because of how bad the account system is on vita)

soul sacrifice is probably the best game on vita too (alongside disgaea and trials)

these are all second hand I assume? Make sure there's no scratches on the screen or that it wasn't dropped:p

I'm still pretty amazed they managed to get rid of the damn screenshot overlay text on older screens too. Some magic there. - Only my "gravity daze" demo still has a bit of text, not the same that the proper games used to have.
---actually nvm, NLKS still has the konami text.

I played Suikoden V and Tales of the Abyss, I can sit through almost anything. Plus the benefit of a portable system is that I can watch TV or go to my PC and watch something there while I play.

And while it would be better to do this on PS3 in its 60 fps glory is the variable framerate. At least the Vita is pretty stable,

I've really been meaning to get back to it but just the thought of the fun being interrupted so much holds me back. Will try to be more patient, yeah should be okay while browsing gaf or something. After batman!
