I don't understand... Sony launches sooner and there's no UI vid to speak of. And no, "Dude, I don't have that, man." doesn't count.

Even if MS put something together now, using already licensed assets, its too late. The GAF hate machine it so spun up they no one here would believe anything they say anyway. "Star Trek again! This shit is so fake!"

There is videos of it in action. Plus, there aren't any rumors of major UI issues.

Don't lump GAF into one entity. If they showed off a real demo of the UI it would calm a lot of people down. I expect Sony to do the same.'

Poster said all UI has been doctored. I said it was not true. That's all.
And I was responding to your use of the word "a lot." That is just untrue.

Random question about PS4 PSN, but since there's no PS4 OT yet, I guess there's nowhere else to really ask this.

If I get 2 PS4s in the same house but in different rooms, and sign into both with the same account, can I install a game to both hard drives (either through digital download purchase or by physically installing using the CD), then sync my saves with cloud save and be able to seamlessly switch from one console to the other and play the same save game file without using the disc?

But there has been no UI footage released that isn't either fake or from that kid in september on a beta build

UI for PS4 has been shown at gamescom and the dev UI was leaked by french devs

Why is everyone so concerned that I tabulate the score correctly in this console war? I know there is relatively more shit flooding from one corridor, I'm just saying in general there has been a lot of negative shit coming from everywhere. I'm not saying it's equal proportions or making any claim on that score, 'cause honestly I don't care who is winning on that score. We're all losing anyway :P

I think the point is, the stuff out of Sony is more like the kind of stuff that you expect from a major new technology launch; features not available at launch, minor issues that need fixing shortly afterwards, etc.

Whereas it is becoming increasingly clear that MS is releasing a borderline broken product.

I know it's tempting to appear impartial by referring to 'bad news' for everyone, but that is simply not the case here.

Can we stop with the legal arguments? Pennello's statements hold water. Not all licensing deals are equal. It makes perfect sense what hes saying.

Don't fault them for that.

If you want to cast blame, blame them for not having prepared/done a walkthrough before this point.

Most of the posts on here regarding the tweet completely proves that virtually NOBODY in this thread works in a company as large as Microsoft.

Microsoft has contracts that they are RESPONSIBLE by LAW to uphold 100%. Maybe one of their agreements with their advert companies is NOT to blur their content out for demos, it would not be the first time that has happened.

Not to mention licensing involves both companies legal departments and contracts. Its not as simple as flipping a fucking switch like most of you would want to believe. Its absolutely pathetic the level this console fanboy war has gotten to

Once again. This content is piped to the dashboard via certain servers. Microsoft can block these serves via rooter for the benefit of a video.

They can edit the video with the offending tiles blurred.

They can post an offline video of a working OS.

They can just show snapped skype while playing a first party game.

They have plenty of options.

This is exactly the reason why i don't care if Penello is subjected to the fury of GAF everytime he opens his mouth. I mean honestly, could he be more transparent ?

Are you really calling that transparent? or am I missing sarcasm.

The totally and intentionally ambiguous language he uses there is laughable. I'm not saying he is lying. I'm saying what he wrote there he can easily come back to if shit is burning on fire and say "Well now, I said representation. Don't go twisting my words."

They worked out the "legal departments and contracts" to produce the fake video we are all seeing, however.

Spare me.

Mocked videos do not use whatever content is protected from licenses which exempts them from this rule. keep spouting your bullshit all you want, but its just that

It can be a "bottleneck" if you're comparing it to another solution which is high bandwith and wider.

It can be worse than another possible solution (or better), but its strange to describe it as a bottleneck. As that should describe part of a system that slows things down. No matter how XBox One's eSRAM (combined with its main memory) compares to PS4's main memory within One itself its got to be a clear boon to performance unless they're screwed something up (potentially what MDX mentioned could do that to a degree).

Is it crazy that I acknowledge all these problems yet still want the system. KI, Forza 5 and Ryse look hot.

Maybe it helps that I am also getting a PS4

No.
But you are handing over a large amount of cash for it. I would wait and see what the future holds.
The games aren't going anywhere.

Welp, sure glad I didn't preorder either console. Barring anything truly awful happening with PS4, right now I feel somewhat confident getting PS4 before the end of the year. At least I'll have 4-6 weeks of impressions & reports of any issues and if there are any hopefully those can be worked out in the short term.

I'm sure by the time I'm prepared to get an XBone a year from now at the soonest, all the major problems will have been wiped out and maybe I'll even be able to save $100 because I cannot see Microsoft hanging onto the $499 price beyond June-Sept 2014.

Albert Spinello is more trustworthy. We know his name and his face, we don't know anything about those GAF users or mods. They could be secret Sony employees. Or people paid by Edward Snowden. Why Edward Snowden you may ask now. Think about it.

If it makes you feel better I've seen half of mort's face and thuway in a nice suit

"Nothing too fancy?" Its hours of manpower. Silly perhaps? But thats the process.

Its a bad argument/example.

The real issue is that MS has alternative routes for demoing the UI - ie blurring shit out, etc.

Right, hours of work, but it's the centerpiece of their console, the seamless UI which connects all the various streams of entertainment into one. If the marketing budget isn't meant for showcasing that, I don't know what it's for then. It's worth a little bit of man hours, or at least as many man hours as it took to cook up a fake UI video.

True, but they have been handling us (their most loyal cumstomers) as complete and total idiots. They had plenty of oppertunities to try a different tone, but they kept deflecting critical questions, and kept trying to downplay any and all differences between them and the compitition, instead of focussing on the features that DO set the Bone apart. We've reached a point where nothing they say will make a difference. They have to put the money where their mouth is, and SHOW us why we should spend our cashies on them.

I'm sure they did too, a long time ago. I don't think they were expecting to produce a live demo of the dash and release it in the same way they did the "fake" one.

So, again, they can't just flip a switch and throw that out for us. Not that i'm trying to play devil's advocate, but I can't really take his statement as straight dodging the issue.

Hey guys. People should understand why these videos get made. It's a simple matter of logistics. The current dash has a lot of Beta-specific tiles in it. The stores are live and we don't have approvals to use those outside materials in marketing. Lastly, they need to use these in a variety of sources that a direct-feed output would not work for.

True story: My wife is working with the team that put these together. As they were getting made, we would compare them to my Beta at home and give feedback.

This video is an EXCELLENT representation of the dash, the features, and the speed. I have no problem showing it to people and saying it's "real". Any differences between this video and the dash are super minor.
I'm catching up online this AM and people seriously need to relax. I know all the drama and intrigue are fun to read about, but the reality is far more mundane.

If you like what that video shows, you're going to love the real product.

Isn't that like saying As Seen on TV products are representations of the real thing, but most of them suck or don't work like advertised?

In regards to licenses, couldn't they just blur out the brands like in reality T.V?

Of course they could, people are just defending Penello rather silly comment. If random YouTubers making knock off AVGN videos can do it, so can one of worlds wealthiest companies.

All these rumours about the Xbone would suggest to me that it was rushed to meet the PS4's launch date, which is just inexplicable to me considering everyone has been expecting new consoles for years and Microsoft haven't exactly been doing much on the 360 front for the past year. The past 6 months of bad news, both rumoured and confirmed, have been mesmerising and I'm utterly perplexed as to how MS could drop the ball so badly.

And holy shit at that Jurassic Park ass storm gif.

Even if MS put something together now, using already licensed assets, its too late. The GAF hate machine it so spun up they no one here would believe anything they say anyway. "Star Trek again! This shit is so fake!"

This. Why would they even bother; people will call it fake and they wasted time getting this sorted. Even if they were to show it off on a stage with a live audience, it would still be called fake.

The real question that the are looking at:

"Is it worth our time doing all of this to feed a never ending request for more information or is it better to spend the time making sure it works?"

I think the latter makes more sense. To do the offline video you lose most of what they were showing because you are disconnected from Live.
