Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

i guess you could use remote play on your vita to connect your ps3 which is networked with your pc, haven't tried it but seems like the way to go if you want to use ps3 media server.

I don't have a ps3 :P oh well
Thanks for the help guys =) Guess I'll stick with my ipad for the time being.

Bought TWD, the game look amazing on the vita screen but has some flaws that have been mentioned before.
1. Loading freezes. these annoy the hell out of me, it's annoying and immersion breaking
2. Controls. either touch or physical. should have been both.

I hope those will get addressed for season two release.

Nof sure what you mean about the controls, I played through the whole thing using analog movement, and touch for everything else?

Will there be a monthly challenge?

how does Persona 3 Portable compare to Persona 4 Golden? Is the voice-acting as good as in P4G? Is there a big difference in graphics (can't really tell from youtube videos)?

Or should I just wait and hope for a P3 vita remake?

Uh oh, prepare for incoming Totobeni post about how terrible P3P is...

I played a little bit of P3P on the PSP back in the day, and I own P3 FES on the PS3, and I do think that FES is better, since I enjoy rpg aspects like walking around "towns," and having the nice anime cutscenes, but I think P3P isn't bad for what it is. It's still more Persona, and able to be played on the go. It also has the female main character. But please keep in mind that I didn't play that much of P3P.

But as someone who has been bitten by the P4G bug, I know the feel of wanting more Persona to play on the Vita.

I don't own P3P, but I'm finally playing FES, and really enjoying it.

I think I encountered a couple of loading level crashes while playing the EU version. Sent at least one crash report to Sony and I've always been curious what exactly that does. Do you guys get some kind of crash report from Sony?

I haven't received them but I've been busy with new projects.

so yeah...2 hours of playing Batman Blackgate.

I really can't recommend it to anyone.

Holy too many issues, Batman

:(

I regret buying it. I don't even dislike it. I think it's a pretty good game. It's just not even remotely worth $40.

I have Divekick buyers remorse....

I don't dislike the game... Its just something I find myself playing and going back too....

I bought it for multiplayer novelty

Divekick would have been the best fighting game ever if the online was better. I actually played some Divekick last night. I was mostly just playing the same couple people over and over again but even so it's really fun. If getting in to matches was quicker and there were more people playing online I wouldn't put the game down.

wait, its possible to stream mkvs from my pc to my vita?? how do I do this?
Been wanting to do this for ages, Vita's OLED > Ipad 2 for watching anime in bed =D

?? how do you stream? edit: ahh you still gotta convert though?? or is there a special trick for mkvs?

yea, should of clarified it but I use PC Content Manager to stream video (mp4) files.

Unfortunately, it doesn't play mkv's. But luckily, there's plenty of groups that do mp4 releases. Made the switch ever since I got a Vita.

Finally got my Vita :D, and holy... I thought those Vita game cases would be slightly bigger.
I have a free PS+ trial that expires in December this year if anyone wants it. Just quote this post to reveal the code.

I haven't received them but I've been busy with new projects.
This would have been back when the game came out in Europe, but anyway, I was mostly curious as to what happens to them. Often one hears stories about various forms of user feedback and reports just end up in a big (physical or virtual) pile that nobody reads.

Available on the european stores:

-WRC 4 (34,99€, 1,5Gb)
-Invizimals: The Alliance (24,99€, 1,6Gb, trial available)
-Proteus (12,99€, -10% for PS+ members, cross-buy, 180Mb)
-Furmins (6,99€, 37Mb, trial available)
-TuneIn Radio (radio app, 1,75€, free for PS+ members,116Mb)

which groups do you recommend? deadfish seems like one of the most prominent.

I can't find Invizimals, amazon.de lists it for February 2014, so maybe it isn't released in whole Europe?
Anyone played Furmins? It's a Housemarque game so I am interested but the first two ratings in the store have it at an average of 2/5 now.

Official blog is not up yet but I think the Invizimals IP is only popular in the latin coutries (Spain, Italy, France,...) so it's maybe only available there for the moment. There is a trivial version for Furmins, you'll be able to make your own opinion.

Does anyone know if WRC4 will be coming to the US? It basically just looks like a more feature-complete version of 3, which is exactly what I'm looking for.

So finally got a chance to hook my Vita up to my PS3 and copy over Hotline Miami. OMG this game is pretty cool from the videos it looked corny I won't lie. But since PS+ gave it out for free it was the perfect chance to see what all the fuss was about.

I like the 8bit art style and the music (PLEASE TELL ME ITS A SOUNDTRACK) also if this is what Indie games will be like for the most part im all in.

I kinda came late to the ps3 and vita party so imma have a nice backlog as well as future games on ps4 super happy atm

TuneIn app is sleek. Was never a radio guy so I never did try out internetradios but with this app I may give it a chance.
No background music does diminish the value of the app though.

Tried it, not my type of game. Compared to other smartphone/toucscreen puzzlers, it's just not fun. The pacing sucks, you constantly retry to figure out how to place those platforms correctly. There is too much placement precision needed.
Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, Where is my Water etc. are all much better and I already own them (and don't play them).

Beatshapers aren't good with the games they pick to port. I dislike all of them. Stardrone and Breakquest are bad and now Furmins.

Namco Bandai brought WRC 3 to the US. They didn't announce it until around February, so you'll probably have to wait before you hear anything.

Checking out furmins trial, the people who had already rated it didn't see totally pleased (3/5 -17 ratings).

Only played a few levels, seems fun enough as a (semi) trial and error puzzle game, very similar to phone games but okay so far (if a bit simple).
I guess people are upset at the price compared to if it were on a phone or something. Doesn't get away with it like Angry Birds if you know what I mean, not quite got that popularity to catch a few crazies :P Although it's not priced that nuts.

nampad is right about the precision - not as forgiving/rounded off. Not entirely a bad thing as it's on vita, but seeing as you use the touchscreen and they didn't give you any other tools to make it easier to be precise...

oh it is a phone game lol

Yeah really easy but game is great in mp. Wish they had a harder difficulty myself.

Turn off the map and plug in headphones, a pretty different beast.

About a possible competition:
Wipeout 2048 single lap trial? We can cycle ghost replays...(through near). Say something like a B class speed in a fun ship?

So I got a $50 coupon from eBay and I'm thinking about using it to buy a slightly used Vita. I'm thinking about just the hardware, no big lots or even memory. I think I can find a good deal on a used card by itself from someone who's upgrading to a 64gb.

Anything I should be looking for besides a great image of the screen? Is this a bad idea? I was all about buying new on or around Black Friday to help support the New Sony Way but I could get quite a deal this way.

I would have a little less concern about buying a used 32GB card (and paying with paypal) than buying a Vita.
Even though it's probably fine, there are some issues that are quite rare. Everything and anything :) touchscreen glitching/memory card reader/weak slots, damaged nubs/triggers, one guy had burn in. Should be okay really though.

I've heard some people mention their memory card gets corrupted as well, but seeing as very keen vita users will be importing 64 GB around this time, you'll probably find one that works fine.

If you do go ahead, make sure the guy restores the vita (and unlinks it from his account as well) not just the memory card. Otherwise you'll need his details to sign in and unlock it or something nuts like that (only read about it).

Lol, Invizimals is not even mentioned in the blog post, and their reason why is that it's not available in all territories, like UK and Germany.

It's 1.6GB btw

Can someone explain customs and stuff to me?

I'm looking at a 64 GB card on ebay. The seller is in Japan. Do I have to pick it up from some place once it arrives in US? What kind of fees/taxes should I expect?

Man vk3 story bosses are becoming really hard!
They were already hard when the fight was 7 vs 7, now the game wants me to beat consecutively a first fight against 7 strong stooges and if i'm able to win what remains of my party has to fight against the even stronger boss + 6 stooges without a pause between the two fights to heal, revive or everything else.
I need to grind a lot this time.

Just an update about this, it was not even 7 vs 14(7 x 2 fights) but 7 vs 21(7 x 3 fights)!

When i won the second fight i was happy, but then the post fight cutscene starts and here arrive another boss with other stooges T_T

In the beginning i didn't even fight because i thought that 4-5 half dead characters vs a boss + 6 minions was just a lost fight, i was sure i had to grind more to win 3 fights, instead i saw that my cpu characters were resisting so i decided to took control of the bunny girl(lol, she was the first fighter-like character that i could select, my main character died in the second fight) and i killed everyone i could until she died, in the end remained only an enemy mage with 1/2 of his energy and my last character, an almost dead warrior with only 4 hp over 1200+ that can barely stand up lol(when a character has a low energy the standing animation change), i did my best and in the end i won.

Man it was somewhat epic and intense, i hope multi fights don't become the rule for story missions though.

Touch my Katamari is fun. Way better than Katamari Forever.
I don't understand this. I thought TMK lacked the "start out tiny roll up the whole world" level that is a staple and requirement of any Katamari game. Why have a Katamari game without it?

Game has been super cheap and I love Katamari, but I won't buy it if I'm just rolling around peoples houses and neighborhoods.

Would definitely be up for this, only had a Vita for a couple of weeks but loving Wipeout and would be great to have a competition on here.

Also if anyone still plays wipeout regularly feel free to add me, my friends list is very bare at the moment after spending all this generation with just a 360..

Congratz man, i know how you feel... it must be like one of those 5v5 arena fights in Wow when you were the last man standing. You must feel like the ultimate badass in this world right now xD

Thanks! XD
What impressed me the most is first how my cpu characters resisting "convinced" me to join the fight and then how at the end remained only the toughest character barely standing up, it almost sounds like a scene from a movie or an anime lol.

The UI works with the touchscreen and buttons and the app does have a lot of options. You can listen to old recorded radio shows and everything from music to sports and news.
Had some errors/stutters probably due to connection problems to a station but else it runs fine and fluid. Only background playback is really missed.

I bought both and enjoy DC far more! the leveling and looting aspects in DC are very good and give the game a nice rpg-feel, while leveling and unlocking new blades in muramasa just feels like the rpg-elements of modern FPS (not really necessary, just thrown in for the sake of it)

I've put 35hours into DC and just leveled my fighter (lvl 92), never touched any other class.
finished the whole of muramasa in 20 hours. so, yeah.

if you're looking for someone to play with you can hit me up (PSN: Deep_Chord). I want to start a new class soon anyway!

And here I thought the fighter was the worst of all the classes.
If you end up agreeing with me, you're in for a treat!

Also, I disagree that the "rpg-elements are not really necessary" in Muramasa.
You need a mechanic to lock away the best special abilities and to extend the player's life bar... so the rpg-elements are the best way to accomplish this, IMO.

waa? I can't figure out why you would think that. Katamari Forever has bigger levels, more variety in levels, better music
Something is off about Katamari Forever... it's a good Katamari, but I prefer the Vita version, I think, especially because of the squish/stretch mechanics.

I've sent over a friend request. Just don't buy NFS please :) Otherwise you're gone ( :P ), unless they magically fix the issue. I think I've gotten it to work a lot better now - less freezing when connected, but had to let go of so many :(
Oh I sent you one too a little while ago SmokeyDave.

Wipeout came out on PS+ in US too right? I know it can be a scary game in races but a nice competition on B (there is A and A+ after it), where the player just goes round the same lap practicing his cornering and path, might find it more enjoyable, especially with a bit of casual competition.
The ghost feature is neat too, especially with near (we add each other to friends list) upload a ghost from the game when we've done a good lap.

People can download a ghost and practice until the comp time ends - so people can post progress scores etc - you'll feel like wanting to improve your time.
Did something similar on a more dedicated forum but haven't been back since the SL closure...hurts a bit too much :P

Googledoc/+managing it here or something?

Thanks. I'm going to be looking for signs of a serious user - boxes, manuals, maybe even receipts if its new enough.

Very good idea in general yep but the faults could happen to passionate gamers too :D Paypal should keep you safe anyway and checking those things out.

I heard the complaints with memory card corruption were when they tried to make new save files or download new titles or something along those lines. May work for a little while and then throw out errors? Not that common a problem though. Not many of them are really but I guess it goes up when things are for sale. Ebay is pretty safe these days anyway, when buying from decent feedback people. Another guy recently made a thread about going to buy one from gumtree and that would have made things harder to check out. Oh also - the battery charging (could be cables, could be user not plugging it in right :) and it could be the vita).

Good luck and have fun! Btw isn't blackfriday or something coming up? They tend to have pretty good deals from what I've heard.

I guess both you guys might be in UK. Argos have some good deals recently (killzone, 8gb? card and console for 140) might be another.
