Really strange. What kind of things would developers restrict? Maybe something with gore/nudity?
Wow this is almost hard to believe. I made a thread about the lack of music CD playback news but this news is even worse, no CD, no MP3, no media server capabilities, no external hdd, you simply can't listen to music of any kind on PS4 unless you start subscribing. And don't start with the "you get lots of content for free when you subscribe" bullshit as with PS+. This is unacceptable.
Online paywall
Music paywall
What's next? Backwards compatibility paywall and $150 a year in total for subs?
THISEven if I wanted Music Unlimited, no way it would offer the obsure stuff I like.
Sony have not revealed their entire hand is what she is saying. These reactions are going to be hilarious to look back on.

hopefully!
Now THIS I fully agree with. For the longest time it seemed like the PS4 was just insanely well planned and timed. Now the curtain is pulling back a little bit (the firmware and now this FAQ) and it looks like Sony is doing their own little bit of scramble to get things ready (or not)It's looking more and more like both consoles are being rushed out and not thought out very well as obvious by missing features and firmware updates needed to even turn features on.
Hooo boy. This thread.
What I said was in reference to DLNA support. I haven't heard anything in regards to MP3s, however, I wouldn't be shocked if they added it down the line. The priority seems to be gaming features before media ones for launch. Hopefully Yoshida or someone can comment on this soon.
You really don't see the fuck up? Check social media then sir.
I just read through 10 pages of meltdowns and cancellations, dumbstruck by the stupid and the entitled - who cancelled their purchase, because .01 of it was wrong and said fuck it all. The same who complain about always online DRM, DLC, online passes, and the casualization of videogames, who don't know when to pick a fight and unknowing highlighted why game makers no longer cater towards them - because they are whiny manbabies with super-sensitive-12-year-old-girl-feelings.

Not worried yet, though damn does Sony have a pretty spotty record when it comes to UI/OS work/upgrades.
I never play music while I play games but I hate when they back stab you after all good things they did since ps4 reveal.
fuck sony.

Hopefully, what I don't like about this is that they managed to sort out everything to do with music unlimited but decided to delay or remove actual MP3 support. It's just a very negative implied motive.
Sorry music pirates.
They would be stupid not to, shoving Music Unlimited into our mouths is not the way to go.
Maybe I should be mad that the PS4 doesn't support 8-track or vinyl to ?
I would rather have the console working with games and some of the services than have things half assed at launch.
If you saw the strides the XMB and PS3 functionality made then that hindsight should be a sharp 20/20.
It's as if people think this is going to be the way these consoles are for the rest of their life span.

No DLNA
No Music Support
No External Support.
Welp, I'm keeping my ps3 hooked up now. This thing is a terrible media device.
oh, I agree mostly.. Though I still stand by my statement of Sony's spotty record. XBM saw some incredible improvements (PS3 since 2007), but at the same time there is shit that still exists (PSN Store, 200 friends and friend management, messaging/chatting, etc) as well as stupid shit that just went on forever (clock/power bug, random PSN disconnects, etc)I would rather have the console working with games and some of the services than have things half assed at launch.

Yes... I like owning things.. fuck the cloud & all the digital "rights" nonsense that goes with it.What about the people who have spent thousands of dollars on their music collection and don't want to have to subscribe to MU to listen to a bunch of albums that I already own physical copies of? Yeah, I've ripped a lot of that music to my computer for ease of access, but that is not piracy and as a supporter of Sony Music and various other record companies I feel completely ripped off by this move.

Whose stupid fucking decision was this?
Herp de derp.
MP3 playback isn't some esoteric feature. It should be a default for every media device. If they do patch it in later that is good, but it is ridiculous that it won't be there at launch.

Like I said, I'm not worried. Just a realization that the launch wasn't/isn't as amazing and perfect as almost all of us believed. heh.
you honestly don't think the guy writing "No MP3 support" didn't even for a second think about how consumers were going to react? Really? They only will look hilarious because those in charge of releasing this information didn't think how consumers would react.
Thank you for the clarification, but how hard is to implement MP3/AVI/MKV playback on a machine as powerfull as the PS4? If there's a delay that's crazy.Hooo boy. This thread.

and then didn't answer a single question about MP3 playback.“Background music player
Users can enjoy gameplay while listening to music in the background with Music Unlimited, a cloud-based digital music service. Users can also voice chat with friends while listening to music. Learn more about Music Unlimited here.”

These are the kinds of reactions with make me shake my head.
Sony has handled almost everything right and is preparing for a complex launch yet we get this kind of reaction when one thing doesn't go the way everyone imagined in this perfect world.
Yeah...the idea that this is just some thing that they didn't have time to get around to is pretty silly.MP3 playback isn't some esoteric feature. It should be a default for every media device. If they do patch it in later that is good, but it is ridiculous that it won't be there at launch.
