When asked if the phone would have always-on-always-listening features like the Moto X’s Touchless Control, he smiled. In other words, you may be able to talk to your Nexus 5 and perform actions just like Moto X owners do.

"OK Google, unzip my pants."
"OK Google, get me a beer"

:::Awaits for his very own Nexus Replicant:::

Also from that Android Police article:

I'm hearing the embargo is officially lifting at 11am Pacific, but the announcement and possible Play Store availability could come earlier, so I wouldn't leave anywhere starting right about now. Retail availability is tipped for tomorrow at the latest, though I wouldn't be surprised if some locations will begin selling today. In Europe, due to the time difference, you guys will likely have to wait for tomorrow.

Having never ordered from Google Play or anything, how hectic will I have to be in trying to order one? I'm going to be home all day, but will this be one of those constant refreshing type of things where there is a good chance I'll miss out?

Reading through that Nexus 5 AMA on reddit and he mentions that the 100GB of Google Drive storage is probably because the complete backups (apps + app data + settings) is being backed up to Google Drive. Makes sense.

And he also mentions that the screen/camera are not up to par with the juggernauts (S4, 5S)

Thoughts on the camera? i was told improvement from the n4 but don't expect anything like the s4/iphone 5s.

How much space was the offer?? 100 GB, i think its why there's going to be a better backup.

Battery life (if you had enough time to look at stats)? i didnt have the phone long enough to test, sorry. but from the eng i talked to, you are looking at around 17 hours talk time, 8 hours web surfing, 6 hours of video watching.

hows the display quality? color vibrance brightness contrast? did it wow you? [Average.] about there, great for what i'm hearing the price will be. but there's much better if you're willing to pay (eg. htc one).

What have you been hearing the price will be? 99% certain, starting at $349.

What kind of tradeoffs do you mean? the battery isnt as good as other devices out in the market today. same goes for the display. sound is really good. but the price is going to be much lower than other current devices without a contract.

And he also mentions that the screen/camera are not up to par with the juggernauts (S4, 5S)

This is always the case with Nexus devices.

I would wager that even the speaker isn't as loud as other Android devices, even though some people with the phone state otherwise.

And he also mentions that the screen/camera are not up to par with the juggernauts (S4, 5S)

His battery times make no sense. Video watching is always higher than web browsing.

Also, he didn't use the camera personally. He was just told it was better than the N4.

Finally, screen will be fine. LG makes good displays.

Overall, the fact he did a AMA for like 15 minutes hands-on at most is pretty funny to me, but hey, free karma on Reddit.

I think it's safe to assume that we are indeed getting some sort of Always Listening feature on KitKat!

Anyone here imported one of the previous nexus devices? Seems like all I need is a UK VPN and a mail forwarding service but I'm still a bit skeptical it will all go smoothly,

I really hope that "Say 'Ok Google'" message is only there until you do it the first time. Really don't need that there 24/7...

Man I really want this...I'm still sporting a Galaxy S with T-Mo but I have to wait till X-Mas. How was the availability for the N4 on it's first holiday season? Any luck for me?

Noooo they didn't change the folder styling to match how it looks in the press photos. I was looking forward to that...

Any world on the UK pricing for the 32gb model ? I have a Nexus 4 16gb so not too fussed about the Nexus 5. However if the price is right for the 32gb I might bite.

So uh.. my gf wants one and so do I but she'll be stuck at work. I kinda don't want to use two different accounts to buy them. Does Google allow more than 1 to be purchased on one account/transaction? :/

They should, assuming the play store site holds up

Why is that surprising? Sneeze and Googy will give you free Drive space. All the Chromebooks include it, hell even installing QuickOffice will do it.

But most chromebooks have tiny storage capacities and quickoffice doesn't give you that much

Don't get me wrong. I'LL TAKE IT.

What's everyone else doing in between f5ing google play? I've got some giantbomb videos going on in the background to keep me entertained.

I just got paid today.

I'll be sitting in the library by myself at 6PM tonight "working" on my thesis.

How the hell am I going to restrain myself from buying this?

Pretending to work. I'll screw with some CSS just enough to call the designer over for opinions then go back to F5ing for half an hour.

Ok guys, Google Now works with the screen turned off... you unlock by swiping up when this feature is used. Not the usual left or right.
