Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | October 2013 | Ver 2000, Batman and some Angry Birds

I think it's been about 6 months since Plus had a Vita game that I didn't already have. I think I'm just going to stop buying most games (except Tearaway. NO WAY am I waiting on that). I buy way too many anyway.

Soul Sacrifice going freebie for Plus members. As is Oddworld.

Perfect. The SS demo was cool, the story and production values are great, but the game itself had me on the fence (small areas, combat that seemed fun but also like it may get repetitive - though maybe it gets deeper). Like Hotline Miami, it's something that I may have passed on if it wasn't up free, but I will probably love it and be interested in a sequel once it's in my hands.

So far, PS+ is paying off in spades. Anybody who has a Vita but doesn't get this service is nuts.

Same.

Edit: To be fair I'm not worried because I'm a "playstation user". I have a PS3/Vita and will get a PS4. So every month I have something I don't have.

The sad thing for me is that they're giving away Vita games that I bought and haven't even launched yet, heh.

My current rule is that I only buy games digitally if I'm going to play them immediately.

Soul Sacrifice and Oddworld Stranger's Wrath for Vita next month free with Plus (US).

Wow. Dick move, SCEA. Just based on the number of times it's been on sale lately...
At least they're sort of doing it right in terms of getting current releases out and played by people to drum up new interest in the next game. However, based on my understanding of Soul Sacrifice Delta, I'm not thinking the freebie will help.

While, again, Vita PS+ fails for me, I can say I'm happy this month because I can start building my PS4 collection though. And I always wanted to try Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, so this month isn't a total wash for PS+.

For once, the US PS+ update is better than EU for me. HAHAHAHA.

I expected SS to be a yearly game.
My second guess still stands: Hot Shots Golf.
Same here.
Now the question is, what games will replace Gravity Rush, Uncharted, and Wipeout
Persona. It'd be worth giving Atlus the money for it's exposure.
DC has an extremely small chance. But a chance nonetheless.
Hot Shots for sure. It's one if the last first party games they have left for IGC.
LBP for absolutely sure. I can't even imagine it not.
MvC has about as much a chance as DC but it's there. It should be about time too.
Unit 13 for sure too. But not completely confident on that one.

Most Likely Combination : Hot Shots, LBP, Unit 13.
Boldest Combination : Persona, LBP, MvC.

Seems kind of premature for SS with the sequel still being so many months off.
Disappointing that the return to retail is a game I own, but I'm glad the second offering is an actual Vita game, not a PSP fighter! No more PSP I hope :)

It's not a sequel.
It's an expansion pack being passed off as a "sequel" of sorts.

i thought soul sac 2 was greenlit as well as delta?

I think so, but all the info we have about anything at all right now is about Delta. So adding SS to PS+ is sort of a primer to try to get people to buy Delta, I'd wager. Especially since your "save transfers".

However, I still don't believe Delta to be different enough that people will want to shell out $40 for a new game after playing enough of the original gotten through PS+.

agreed.

do you/anyone know if the content in Delta will be more/less/equal to the amount of new content added to RO:Ace??

Soul Sacrifice should have been a yearly IGC title to push the IP and because it is really good.
But maybe they have something even better. Now I am even more excited for the yearly update.

More repetitive, in a sense. You can do a little more in terms of combat (it's closer to an action game than a brawler), but most people seem to prefer the actual core gameplay of Dragon's Crown it seems (myself included). I enjoyed Muramasa, but I don't blindly recommend it to everyone. It's sort of like the Dishwasher games on XBL.

Cheers :D. Luckily it's cheap, so I won't feel too bad if I end up not liking it.

I'm in the mood for some JRPG again lately. Anything you guys can recommend?
Currently set my eyes on some PSP titles like FFIII or the Y's games. Are those titles any good?

FFIII is a good FF title for what it is. But you can play that game everywhere (and for cheaper too than what they are pricing on the PSN store) since along with IV SE would prolly port it to a toaster if they could.

I'd suggest FFVIII,Chrono, Wild Arms, BoFIV, and maybe Legend of mana

Good suggestions but unfortunately I'm EU bound :/

Yeah, I was kidding. The yearly PS+ games will most likely be LBP and PSASBR. :(

There should be 3.
Uncharted, Gravity Rush, WipEout 2048 should all be swapped out.

That's unfortunate, I really liked the look of the remake. FF4 Complete is 20€ on EU PSN which is a bit too much for what I'm willing to pay for a PSP game.

FF4 is one of my favorite FF games.
You can get the PSP complete version for $10 or so during the SE sale that happens every year it seems.

Good suggestions but unfortunately I'm EU bound :/

BoF3 then?
Which of those games, other than Chrono Cross and BoF4 aren't available in EU?

Exactly !!
It's either a wasted opportunity, or they have something better lined up. Persona 5 news is incoming apparently. And even though there are sales out there left to be made with new Vita owners, it would be a huge boon to IGC. I'm sure they would have loved to keep Gravity Rush on there too, maybe they'll open up another Evergreen Slot... I would think that ideally, the best Evergreen lineup would be
Persona, Gravity Rush, Soul Sacrifice. They could always go insane and announce Tearaway for PS+ =P
So Persona 4 Golden on PS+ then?
Out of the 5-6 most likely new Evergreen Titles... Persona is on that list. For me anyway.

BoF3 then?

Legend of Mana isn't available and I can't bring myself to play the German version of FFVIII. BoF3 is available though as well as Wild Arms and WildArms XF.
Anyways, thanks. Guess I'll check out BoF3.

So Persona 4 Golden on PS+ then?

I wouldn't have thought they would give away Soul Sacrifice so soon, it just released this spring, so I am really surprised it isn't even yearly. This game deserves better but maybe they thought a yearly SS would hamper the SS: Delta (if it's not released as DLC and only an expansion) sales in spring 2014?
If that's the case, releasing it now is probably better to promote the new game than releasing it close to SS: Delta.

P4: G would be the only big thing that could hype up the IGC. LBP and PSABR are a given I think but there are three slots and a 3rd party game is possible as it already hapened on the PS3. You are probably right though, it won't be Persona.
NFS: MW or AC: L could be considered big for the mainstream. It certainly would have a bigger pull than Soul Sacrifice.

For what it's worth, I'll probably already own the games anyway.

I wonder why Sony hasn't implemented the UMD passport program yet out in the west

Used games market I assume. They're afraid it'll get abused too much.

It's less of an issue in Japan because they have no equivalent to GameStop that aggressively encourages people to resell their games.

So wait, do we know when the yearly swap out of PS+ vita games will be, or are we just guessing?

im pretty we are guessing. the vita annual IGC were introduced last november so thats what we are going off.. i can't remember specifically if a mod on the psn blog has mentioned that theyd announce them in nov or not.

Now the question is, what games will replace Gravity Rush, Uncharted, and Wipeout

Just came in to ask if those PS+ games were going to be replaced by something other than Soul Sacrifice and Stranger's Wrath.
So November is a pretty huge month for Vita PS+ subscribers...Like 5 new games haha, pretty sweet

So wait, do we know when the yearly swap out of PS+ vita games will be, or are we just guessing?

It was November 15th (or 19th can't remember exactly) last year, so I imagine it will be the same time this year. Who knows they may announce it alongside the launch of PS4, but probably not.
