Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

TWD and LIMBO are very short games and you can finish them both on the same day if you're free for the whole day. Getting the platinum trophy on both is also pretty easy.

Walking Dead isn't that short. Each episode takes about 2-4 hours (exception being 400 days, which only takes 1-2 hours). It all depends on whether you explore, how many conversations you have (majority are all optional), and how much of the other optional stuff you do. It's a 10 hour game at the very least (unless you rush it, only do the mandatory stuff, and never get stuck).

I know I definitely wouldn't want to try to finish it in a day.

Oops I forgot to mention that each episode is short. I still think you can finish it in a day. Not recommended though.

Which P2?

If he is playing in his PSP and not his Vita I guess he have the physichal version. So the first 1.

I have an XL.
I felt like, if I could've used the the d-pad, I would've had less problems with DKCR3D...

The D-pad is imposible to use where it's placed, right? I didn't know it was placed so awfully.

You're welcome.

I didn't bought Limbo for the Vita while it was cross-buy. I planned playing it around Halloween, but I didn't want to pay for a game I supposedly already bought. They could have advised or something...

How do you guys clean your PS Vitas? What cleaning tools do you use? There's some dust between the buttons on my unit and I would like to know what's the best tool to use to prevent damage.

I use the same product my father uses for cleaning his laptor and our TV screen with a cloth. When I finish, it shines and looks absolutely stunning.

There are some guys that open their Vita's and clean the insides, if I read correctly. I'm afraid of breaking mine if I do it. I'm a little clumsy with this kind of things.

Too bad. Still a great game and I play it from time to time even when I already finished it. Especially now that I can play it the Vita.

Alright, I'll try to clean mine using my cloth used to clean my glasses. I'll never try opening the Vita unless absolutely necessary. I'm too afraid to break it.

20 Pounds = $30-ish
$20= 12-ish Pounds
Unless you mistakenly used the Dollar sign and wanted to use the Pound sign.

Dragon's Crown: $39.99 (and the same in Pounds, 35.99gbp for PS+)
Killzone Mercenary: $35.99 (29.99gbp)
Muramasa $35.99 (19.99gbp)
Batman: Blackgate $35.99 (34.99gbp)
Malicious Rebirth: 14.99 (9.99gbp)
Lone Survivor: 12.99 (9.99gbp)
Spelunky: 14.99 (11.99gbp)
Valhalla Knights 3: $35.99 (23.99gbp)
UMvC3: $39.99 (29.99gbp)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2+: $39.99 (34.99gbp)
Ninja Gaiden Sigma: $39.99 (29.99gbp)

Sure there are discrepancies, but sometimes there are not.
So it's surprising to see Tearaway show up as 19.99gbp when it's $35.99 in the US.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's up with how much I'll play tomorrow, but I think that's my next target since it should be an easy plat and easy to clean up 2+ gb off my card when done.
Plus since the show is back on, I'm all TWD hype at the moment.

I guess Ys really is coming out this month.

@nihonfalcom: 豪華特典がついた北米版「イースセルセタの樹海」11月26日発売! Its first ever release in North America, Ys Memories of Celeta will take players … http://t.co/iZzxGQHk1M

I've just got my 64GB card yesterday and I was wondering what newish digital titles are worth picking up? Last ones I got were Limbo and Hotline Miami (both great) and apart from Lone Survivor I'm not sure what to pick up. Any suggestions?

Soul Sacrifice seems to be coming to PS+.

Basically download everything free from PS+.

Sorry, should have mentioned I was in Europe (so we get different PS+ deals) but I've already got PS+ and I download everything from there anyway as they become available.

Do you only buy PS Vita games or do you also buy PSP games? If you only buy PS Vita games, I'm not the one you should ask for recommendations because I just bought my PSV last week. Now if you buy PSP games, I can name a few depending on the genre you prefer.

In mainland EU it's for around 25€. It's amazing for a game that good. I need to buy it day one no matter what. And with the free points GameStop gave me for buying there my Vita (my partership card arrived yesterday) I can buy it for less than 20 :)

But man, I'm going to spend quite some money in the next few months. I've finally started studying my car license and a 30 minutes practice is around 25€. And if you take the exam with less than 20 practices the examiner would probably send you back to the driving school...

In Spain, you usually spend 600€ or more before getting your license...

Being a first party game, I think we have a fairly good chance of getting it in the next few months. Who knows, maybe we'd get SS as a yearly game whle US receive Unit13 (it was a EU freebie, but not in US).

Not really, digital release can be cheaper than retail since you could omit the physical medium from the costs.
As such, Tearaway can be $30 on PSN, and $36 retail for example.

I've avoided most games that looks like it'd require dual analogs (KH/MH/Kid Icarus)

I watched Proteus gameplay but for $15 I don't think I'll bite, probably not my kind of game but still want to try it sometime. Will wait till drops to $5

Tearaway is $39.99 at retail in North America. Given SCE's other first party games receive a 10% digital discount, I imagine the same will happen with Tearaway, hence $35.99.

I'd be interested in getting some more PSP games on my Vita. I prefer platformers, action games and racers but I enjoy pretty much any genre.

In case any other vita Aussies are keen...
Tearaway is $29.71 AUD
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus $21.21
MDS HD Collection 21.45
Gravity Rush $21.cents something
Little Kings Story $22
Touch my Katamari $22
Free shipping when you spend over 60 Video Ezy

I'm passing on Tearaway but had Ys pred since March....Love Ys :D

I'd be interested in getting some more PSP games on my Vita. I prefer platformers, action games and racers but I enjoy pretty much any genre.

For action games, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, God of War games, Ys Seven,Ys Oath of Felghana,God Eater, GTA Chinatown Wars and Liberty City Stories, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Jak and Daxter seems pretty good to recommend

Racers would be Gran Turismo, Motor Storm: Arctic Edge, Ridge Racer, Wipeout Pulse/Pure seems standard.

Lastly for platformers, our resident VitaGAF member, Totobeni, recommends Gurumin.

My personal recommendations especially if you're a Gundam fan like myself is Gundam vs. Gundam Next Plus, SD Gundam G Generation Overworld, Super Robot Wars Z 2.1/2.1

For FF fans, Duodecim Dissidia 012 and FFVII Crisis Core.

I'm also constantly playing Lord of Vermillion because my friends still play it. It's kinda like a mash up between God Eater, Soul Sacrifice and Monster Hunter.

That's my list for the moment. There's more but I can't possibly list down everything especially because my taste are more on RPGs. Even more if we add PSX games.

Special mention: DJ Max. 1000 hours spent here. I've played the same game/s for 4 years.

Its gonna be a long wait for you.

Try to at least buy a Vita if a good deal presents itself to you. Like you, I was waiting for a Vita TV too but I bit the bullet when I found that I can buy a PS Vita for $60. (I actually bought it for $150 but it includes a 32gb mmc and a game so its essentially $60).

I can wait, it will just be sad to not play Ys for a while.

Wait is Gurumin a Platformer or an Action/Adventure game like megaman legends?

IIRC its a combination of both.

Here is the post of Totobeni recommending Gurumin:
Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure is a must buy, it's my best PSP ever.

Gurumin is a action adventure RPG/Platforms hybrid (yes there is almost everything here) it might remind you for some N64 platformers, Zelda and Megaman Legend but it's more than that, as it got it's own identity and is full of souls and charm.

The combat system is not shallow and require skill and you can feel badass doing the jump attack if you get your timing right, aside from fire and ice lightning for your legendary drill there are tons of upgrades for for Parin outfit, game can be very challenging in higher difficulties but the easy mode is good for new comers. There is platforming in Gurumin and it's pretty good and also hidden collectables and lots of secrets and dungeons ( to beat and to break your record and to discovers hidden paths) plus puzzles and some funny mini games.

also It got really awesome cast, funny and strong female lead (Parin) with awesome cast from a blob dancing thingy to a big blue legendary cat and it's a voiced PSP game, the story is also is sweet and get dark later on and you'll need to beat every dungeons to get the true ending which will make you cry (both endings are "good" by the way).

and for icing on the cake? it look awesome on Vita and with mapping L/R to the right stick for camera controls it remove PSP platforming camera control issue and play better on Vita.

^ it even better looking than some of the recent Vita games

buy it.

*sorry European guys*

Those in the UK and buying Tearaway from Amazon, may be worth putting the link through Flubit.

They offered me the game for £17.64.

Can't argue with that price.

GAF, help.

I bought a Vita with 64gb and Uncharted. And damn, so many games. Unit 13, Lego Marvel, Ragnarok Odyssey... I wanna buy everything.

I just got PS+, but how can I see what's avaliable for free?

I read somewhere that Parasite Eve was free, but now it shows 5.99

I really wanna buy the first game. How will it look?

CastleStorm is releasing this week on US PSN. Will give the demo a try though I'm not a huge fan of Tower Defense.

Assuming you're US PSN, PSX games look good on Vita.
PE1 WAS a Plus freebie months ago, but not any more.
To see what's availabe for US Plus members atm, go to the Webstore and click on Playstation Plus and check there:

Ah sorry for the late reply. I went to bed after that post.
Thought you had the game as well since you mentioned having tits on your system also. ;)

It's this one:

Edit: included a funny picture you get when finishing a certain game mode. Not going to hotline it just in case it's NSFW. ;)

hhhnnnngggggg! I need this in my blood.

Any chance of localization? I heard there was a 3DS version coming to NA.

I'm not sure, honestly. Given that they're localising the 3DS game - Senran Kagura Burst - I'd hope there's a bigger chance of Shinovi Versus coming over as well. By all accounts, Shinovi Versus is the better game, so for everyone who hasn't already played it, I hope it arrives somehow.

I imported it earlier this year with no real idea of what I was getting into, I thought it looked like fun but I had no clue. Unless you really want to get in on the story, it's completely playable to a non-Japanese speaker, very easy to understand. The only stuff you miss out on is the story. And there have been fan efforts made to translate that.

Thanks for the reply. A little disappointed with the brightness while playing outside.

Playing Uncharted was feeling kind of dated, until they throw in the story elements and the character interactions. I think that's where Naughty Dog should go next, although I think that's the approach they already took with The Last of Us (couldn't play).

The touch controls are shit though. I hate rubbing and slashing the screen for punching people. Ugh.

I hope it becomes localized. If not then I'll settle for a translation patch kinda like the Fatal Frame one on the Wii where you just need to put some files on the mmc.

I kinda have a gripe with that too. I thought for sure that it would be bright like my Samsung Galaxy S3 because I saw a lot of owners complain about the screen being too bright at night. It's still a good screen but not at direct sunlight. Sony concerned about battery consumption?

There was a review where they said that Vita 2000 has a brighter screen than the OLED model. Maybe that's why it has a brighter screen since it doesn't consume as much battery life as the OLED model.

After watching the AssCreed IV Quick Look on Giant Bomb, I have a slight urge to play some more Liberation. I have the game since I got the white Vita bundle last year, and kinda enjoyed it for a few hours. Should I even bother picking this back up? Kinda conflicted, since I don't really like the series in general (except for 2).

Xseed is releasing a lot of stuff for Vita so as long as Burst and VK3/Ys don't tank we should get SV at some point.

Phew... finally got that Ace ranking.
Now the only partially restrictive trophy I have left is the 100 matches of multiplayer. I wish there was an easy way to figure out how many more matches I need to play.
There is it shows you how many matches you won and its shows your match win ratio, for ex if you have 10 wins and a 2 win per lose ratio means you lost 5 matches for a total of 15. So just divide the wins by the ratio and take that number and add to wins for your total.
