Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

Pic of the day. Is this a spaceship from Hocotate? No-this is a bomb SHAPED like a spaceship. After liftoff, it will drop down when you least expect it.

Hmm...maybe this is his new UP-B move? Maybe he can set the Rocket down, like how Sonic could leave the spring board anywhere on the field.

EDIT: after reading the comment, it sounds more like a item

....Well, I'll be! Totally clueless as to what this is like ... Anyone who's actually played Pikmin care to speculate?
On second thought (aka EDIT), this may be a pretty straightforward item, indeed. You simply activate it and it goes off on its own, landing somewhere on the field.
Basically, an item that allows you to become the Jeff Assist Trophy.
On third thought (second EDIT!) This part is important:
"After liftoff, it will drop down when you least expect it."
Oh man, a Brick Joke item. Hilarious matches upcoming.

Items usually have low detail because they're small and move quickly, thus harder to spot. Having extra grunt is really helping add detail.

Actually, that shot is kinda surreal looking. All the models in this game look to be really high poly, at least where it counts, like on round surfaces. The environment on the other hand has more hard edges and blocks. It almost like Sonic, Olimar, and the rocket were pasted in.

Olimar has been downgraded to one Pikmin. Thanks, 3DS.

Nintendo Bullshots confirmed?

Aside from early Skyward Sword screens have they ever used bullshots?

I don't think so. Maybe once or twice. But their bullshots are really just an increased resolution / texture filtering like most bullshots. The actual assets are still all the same. Since these shots are lower resolution than what the game will actually put out, they're like anti-bullshots.

I find it funny that people are always like "axe the 3DS game!!!" when that one came first, not the Wii U game. :P

Either way, nice detail on that rocket for sure.

If that ship is an item, I wonder what it means for Olimar's Final Smash. Will it be totally new (and if so, what could it be), or will it be the same as before only he'll use the Dolphin?

Not exactly sure how imagine quality works, but doesn't downsampling an image makes some things looks better?

It can increase clarity for the final image resolution as opposed to rendering directly at that resolution, but it will still generally look best at the native resolution. Miiverse shots are always downsampled, so they look clean, but 1080p images of Smash 4 will be most impressive.

Is it even going to be 1080p? I've heard no mention of that at all. I assumed it was 720p/60fps.

1080p would be damn fine though.

Pretty for there have been 1080p shots.

The 60FPS though I believe is pure speculation but a logical one based on what Sakurai aimed for with the previous games.

Some damn fine character models there. Item sounds like it can be a funny inclusion.

Have we seen Sonic's 3DS model? I am guessing no, I would've remembered.

Is this true? It will really be 1080p@60fps? I remember the promise of Wind Waker U at that resolution/frame rate and they didn't pull through.
Pretty sure they always said WWHD would be 1080p/30FPS.

The 60FPS comments were just baseless rumours by forum members which were often corrected by others soon afterwards.
