Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

Just shut up and play Soul Sacrifice ¬¬

I really want to play SS, it's not that i'm mad at you :)

After what you did to me, did you really think I'll listen to you?

Let's play some Soul Sacrifice once you get it. :)

Shahid claimed that good progress has been made on that JRPGVita thing and that the titles involved are probably going to be announced in the near future. That and he supposedly greenlit 8 new Vita(?) games recently.

Take that as you will.

Dragon Quest 8 confirmed.

Really excited for JRPGs.

Wait what? You have been able to listen to your own music while in game since day one.

How come I never knew this... Sigh... I'm an idiot. Wait. For the PSP or PS Vita?

Also, I been playing 3DS a lot more, so I haven't touched my Vita for a while. When I was updating to 3.0 today, I literally wanted to throw my 3DS out of the window and make love to my Vita. It feels so good, it sounds so good, it looks so good.

Well, we don't have Xenogears or the Chrono games...

I've never played Xenogears (not into mechs) and while Chrono Cross was a good game, it was no Chrono Trigger. And the port of Chrono Trigger you refer to is made unplayable (for me, at least) by the lag when you switch from map to battle... it's horrendous.

All told, I'd take the Crash and Spyro games,(do the R-Type games work there?!), the better PS+, etc. :P

Grass is always greener, I guess? ;)

On episode 4 of The Walking Dead -- I can see what people meant about the stuttering/pauses... but it's not unplayable. It reminds me of when I played the BttF Telltale games on PS3. :lol

more year+ old indie game ports

I remember the PSP CFW had the ability to play your own music tracks while playing a game. I'm hoping we can get that officially or once the PS Vita homebrew is released.
You can already do that, unless I'm misunderstanding something. Some games have the feature blocked though

I didn't know about those issues & I didn't know about the Crash and Spyro games not being available there.

Knowing that, grass is quite probably greener here. We also have Tomba! 2, which I'm not sure if you guys have.

Dragon's Crown took a while to click with me but I'm really getting into it now, 15 hours in, around level 30 with my Amazon.
Repetitive but also very addictive. Still kinda feel like I'm playing it wrong though, I basically never evade or use any spells/potions.

Open the Music app, play a song, press the PS home button, go into a Vita game. Some games do disable the support.
What Takao said, you might need to fiddle with the sound settings in the game, and of course you have music controls by holding down the PS button. Finally you can also do it using Music Unlimited by using offline mode

Oh nice. I assumed this wasn't possible so I didn't know this feature.

Thanks!

They do have them, in case of Spyro, they had them years before us. I think he means you can't play them on the vita?

We still don't have games like Dino Crisis 1&2, Legend of Dragoon and Breath of Fire IV on the EU store among stuff like Chrono Cross, Xenogears, Parasite Eve, Legend of Mana, Threats of Fate etc.

I don't think it's as even as some like to think. Sure EU has been more luckily with things recently and plus is gold, but that's enough to suddenly be considered treated better?

If you want a Journey like experience on vita, Proteus is your game, its so damn beautiful and sounds are great as well. Here's some screenshots. Sorry, if it takes too much space

As you can see from the above, there's day/night cycle. Theres also motion sensing viewing, in what i can assume is like an Occulus Rift feels.

Why would I want filth as a customization option?

Oh and regarding the vita update, liking the new panaromic camera app :D Hating how there is still no goddamn playlist maker. 2 years and this new penultimate 3.0 update and still NO PLAYLIST MAKER! yoshida is getting some :C from me from now on!

Are games still being added to the PSone and PSP sections of the PSN store?
(Sorry, I'm just now getting into the Playstation world)

Yes, though it is getting rarer and rarer. In general seems Sony is done pushing for them, so it's up to the companies that own the rights to the games to take the initiative. And for the obvious missing games, there's usually some sort of technical or legal issue preventing their release, so the ones that do still show up tend to be more obscure stuff like GungHo's Japanese PS1 Imports, or Gaijinworks releasing new Class of Heroes games and digging through the Working Designs catalog.

Is the game still supposed to be released later this year in the US? I know the European release is in February.
It's undoubtedly coming out in NA. It's just that Tecmo Koei Europe is a lot better at putting out advance information than the American branch.

First attempt for the GE2 OT thread opener image. Any advice? Thinking I might crop it to just the text and background, and put the rest in the body.

Maybe a color overlay/gradient on top to make everything fit better together. Lovely work on the text btw

Not really. SCEA's pretty much abandoned updating the catalog of PSone/PSP games that work on Vita that aren't on the Vita store so you're left with what new PSone Classics, and PSP release we get.

I swear every time there is an Atlus PSN sale I buy more and more games. November is going to be a bloodbath for my wallet anyway between games, Symphony of the Goddesses, and Black Friday. I cannot resist filling my my memory card with PSP games :(

Image and text overall seem a little small. Are you allowed to rip images from the official sites? If so you could just use their assets and make it simple like this lol

When they're charging full price I care.

Open the Music app, play a song, press the PS home button, go into a Vita game. Some games do disable the support.

When it's the same price the game still sells for on other platforms (see: Spelunky, for example), I don't see the problem.

Anyone mentioned that Joe Danger has been announced for Vita, apparently?
http://nichegamer.net/2013/11/sonys-indie-week-continues-with-joe-danger-on-vita/

Mercenary Kings to PS4... that should be making it's way to Vita instead... or both. Time will tell, I guess.

Well, since Sony is showing no signs of acknowledging the 100 app limit, I'm worried it's something they can't do anything about. Makes the 64gb card almost useless for me.

So I guess I'm asking if anyone here feels like buying a 64gb card from me. It's sealed in package, just PM me if you want it.

Valhalla Knights 3 Gold announced for Japan. >_> Features shit that should have been patched in the original version for free (improved load times, faster battle options etc.) as well as some extra content. Full price, out next February.

Also, new Vita value packs out December 5. Include 16GB memory card (!) and a download code for Toro on PSOne + PocketStation app.

man the tuneup radio app is really well designed. it looks really great.

Assets weren't very high quality, so I scaled them down to hide the ugliness. I might still try to fit it in somewhere, using B.O.O.M's suggestion. Definitely remake it if I can find some high res art.

Ooh, neat. That looks awesome. I'll edit a few things from the site, just in case, but those definitely work. Thanks for the idea. =D
