PlayStation 4 All Access on 11/14 - 11pm EST on Spike + Live Stream

Im just hoping for an infamous release date and for it to be in early february.
or sooner?

Also doesnt microsoft own the gears of war ip like they do for halo?

Hmmmmm ... good question! I think once Naughty Dog shows off their PS4 game, heads will explode and then the world will become calm again.

That is until Bethesda shows off Elder Scrolls VI ... then heads will explode again.

I dunno I think with the graphical potential of the PS4 we will have a fun generation for a long time.

We have Infamous and Drive Club in early 2014. The Order a little after that. The Witcher and MGSV a bit after that. Maybe SMS by the end of 2014. Naughty Dog in 2015 along with FFXV and Kingdom Hearts III and Project Pheonix and god knows what else in between all of this that is still unannounced and unknown.

Will be a hell of a generation on the Playstation 4. I am truly excited about it.

Third Party Productions group of Sony I think is going to have an incredible impact also. People do not talk about this new division of Sony, but it could end up being one of the most important.
 
My ultimate dream would be the Gears trilogy released this year and an announcement of the next Gears going multi platform. No other announcement, not even the infamous FFVII remake would top this for me, except maybe just maybe a digimon world 1 type game released for the PS4.
 
If Mark had said "You should play Shadow Complex" I would be 100x times more excited.

Maybe that's the announcement! Shadow Complex 1+2! Ok, I don't want to get hyped now.

I will always care about videogames more then many things in my life (even to a fault, haha) but I don't think I'll be as jazzed and engaged as I am now 24/7 a few months from now. I'll still use Gaf all the time and get hyped for individual events and releases (like I always do) but I am in a state of obsession right now that I imagine will fade a little once the dust settles.

I only say this because I know myself. For instance: I got SO into politics leasing up to the 2012 Presidential Election (U.S.). I've always been political, but I am never as consistently invested and charged as I was then. I would watch MSNBC every night in the hours before bed, I would visit politics sites and read political things on Reddit whenever I got the chance. As soon as the election was over, I no longer cared. I tried watching MSNBC for a bit after but all of a sudden I didn't see the point.

It was the hype and the competition and the zeitgeist that carried me, and when it settled, so did I. This console launch won't be the same because I read about and play video games every day all year long, but I must admit I feel the same familiar pull in the lead up to this launch.
 
Man I don't want to get too hyped, it happens every damn time. Well at least this time if I am disappointed by the announcements I can just turn to my TV and turn on that beautiful PS4 to help the sour taste leave my mouth.

I'd rather something all new than more Gears. I mean, I don't mind if they port the trilogy to PS4, but give us something new while you're at it.

In non-Epic related discussion, it'd be nice if Sony were utilizing its third-party team to lock up some oft requested games like Shenmue 3.

Heck, I would be happy with a simple port of the Digimon Adventure PSP game.
 
This tweet is imo the confirmation that there won't be a Gears (port). That's just trolling because of the rumours.

And I'm happy about that, because I'm not interested in it anymore since Gears 3. Bring dat new IP, please.
 
If Epic was for real about wanting 2.5TFLOP GPU for next gen, then it would only make sense they would group up with Sony seeing as how they do atleast have a 1.8TFLOP GPU that is very easy to develop for and familiar to Epic.

So, would not surprise me if Sony and Epic worked something out for this generation. Epic was probably one of the teams that Sony worked with while developing the PS4 in the first place anyway. And Epic has been wonderfully silent besides the UE4 demonstration at the Sony February reveal.

We will see, but it sure could be something exciting. Sony would most likely want a new IP though. Maybe the first game that hits PS4 is like a Gears of War enhanced compilation and with a teaser of the new IP being built. Sony SMS and Epic getting together to do it?

I'm more inclined to believe this than his tweet being a hint that there will be Gears.

I'm still open to either idea though, I think it could go any which way.

If the games that are scheduled to hit in 2014 actually hit, I'll be enjoying the high for the first time since E3 (my hype was muted after I looked at the launch list and saw nothing for myself). After that, it's all on them to keep the train rolling. I've got a short list of developers who I'll be looking out for next-gen: High Moon Studios, United Front Games (still holding out hope), Rocksteady, Falcom (if they really do plan on releasing a PS4 title), WB Montreal (Arkham Origins was a competent game and if they ever get let off their leash and are given the chance to do what they want, they should be impressive), and CD Projekt. Depending on what their their offerings for the next-gen turn out to be, I may be forced to give up the internet altogether if I'm all hyper and everyone else starts turning into Sour Suzies.
 
I wouldnt be so sure mark rein is trolling... hasnt he tweeted not so subtle tweets in the past that came true or am i going crazy?
 
As someone who's played all 3 mainline Gears games, i don't want a sequel or a "trilogy" port for the ps4.

Just give me a new action IP, epic.

Well, the thing is that this isn't even subtle on any level if he's being serious. He would've just spoiled their own announcement through a twitter comment.
 
Gears....please no. Nothing kills hype more than a port of a franchise that i didn't even bother playing the latest installment of.
 
So if this ends up being about Gears of War, do you think it's going to be a completely new game, or remakes/ports of the original games?

And I have the feeling it's not about Gears of War, but another Epic franchise (Unreal?)

I think the gears part is a joke, or if it's real, it's not the main surprise news. but by now it seems very likely that Epic will be there showing something. so maybe new IP and if we're really lucky, a Gears trilogy along side it.
