PlayStation 4 All Access on 11/14 - 11pm EST on Spike + Live Stream

This thread needs more wild, almost entirely unfounded speculation. I'll get us started:

Well, here's my best guess for what we see at this event:

Sony First Party:

Suckerpunch: We'll most likely see more inFamous at the launch event.

Sony Santa Monica: has a Stig project and possibly a Cory Barlog project, and we don't know whether or not they are working on the same project or two separate ones. (correct me if I"m wrong on that) Either way, very tough to tell just what exactly is going on. Tough to call, but I'm gonna guess we don't hear about their new stuff for a while.

Guerilla Games: They have a new IP in the works as we speak, we know this. What we don't know is what this project is, and my money would be on it not being announced yet, what with Shadowfall just launching, why step on their own toes?

Naughty Dog: Uncharted 4 is coming, mortimer says he is sure of this, the only possible doubt is whether ND is actually the ones developing it. There is an outside chance of someone like Bend doing it, but my money is still on ND and that it's TOO big of an announcement for this event. If anything, we get a brief, and I mean BRIEF teaser of it, with more to come at VGAs. More likely scenario to me is simply a reveal at VGAs as per usual for ND.

Sony San Diego: There's an outside chance we see more of The Show, but I have a feeling they wanted to get that announcement out of the way a week ahead of time as they did, and we'll get a slow drip of gameplay in the coming months. Important to note, they have two teams, so maybe they are cooking up another IP? There's a chance, but again I don't expect them to talk about it now, what with The Show coming soon.

Sony Bend: Now things get interesting. Are they working on a Vita or PS4 game? My money says PS4. I think Sony finds the Vita profitable without AAA titles, and would rather bank on PS4 increasing Vita sales than on AAA first party titles coming only to Vita. Plus, Bend deserves a shot at playing with the big boys. I wouldn't be shocked if we heard something from Bend on a PS4 title on 11/14, but I made a bunch of big leaps to imagine it.

Media Molecule: There's several ways to think about this: Tearaway is just around the corner, so why step on your own toes by announcing the MM PS4 title just yet. OR, their game utilizes Sony's VR and they are simply waiting for the right time to announce the game alongside the announcement of the VR. OR, MM is working on a quirky PS4 game that simply utilizes current peripherals and we could hear about it soon. I think my money is on the VR business, because it's Media Molecule.

Japan Studio: And finally Japan. I would be SHOCKED if we heard about TLG. That title screams either VGA mega mega mega ton, but more likely E3 2014. Other than that, PS4 titles are in the works, we just don't know by who and when. It's so hard to guess, but this is the North American launch event, and although there is interest, of course, in Japan Studio games out west, it seems better served to announce these titles around the Asia launch.

So, considering all of this I think at the 11/14 event we'll see a quick glimpse at The Order gameplay for the first time, and we see more of inFamous Second Son and The Witness. We'll get one new first party title announced for PS4, and although it's tough to call, I'm gonna guess it's either from Bend or MM, with maybe a TEASE of Uncharted 4. Epic simply has to be involved somehow, simply too much smoke for there to be no fire, and I bet they announce an entirely new IP either exclusive to PS4 or, more likely, with exclusive DLC or the like. I also think we get one or two more third party reveals, because why not, the PS4 has momentum and it would be a good look for 3rd parties to hitch themselves to the Sony Pony. Maybe Borderlands 3, what with their recent GDDR5 love affair?

This is a long post with a ton of bad speculation, I apologize sincerely, just read this:
TL;DR: I think we get one new first party reveal, a new Epic IP, see The Order gameplay, more inFamous SS, and another 1 or 2 third party reveals.

Some good points, SSM has been 2 teams for a while though and rumors are of a 3rd team, but that's likely just a pre-production team.

I think Bend are doing Uncharted with ND support, but that's just my guess.

Good point. I was just assuming that some serious re-working is going on at SSM. Since the Ascension guy just left, does Barlog take that team over or is there truly a 3rd team? Or are Stig and Barlog working together on a game with someone else taking over team 2?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Uncharted simply passes the Uncharted torch on and Sony allow Bend to try their hand at it.

Cross post by ElTorro in the other thread cause it's glorious :)

I'll refer you to a previous post I made on the matter. I'm still standing by those estimates. Short answer - yes, but not by as much as everybody seems to think.

I personally don't think the Japanese console market will decline but increase again.
I think the past 8 years have just been an awkward time for Japanese game developers. Obviously they didn't care about an American console even with it's Japanese RPG's at the start of the generation. As expected Microsoft dropped Japanese support pretty darn quick instead of continuing to support them.
The Playsation 3 was hard to develop for so the Japanese developers didn't care for it.

I honestly believe that since the PS4 is apparently so easy to develop for the Japanese console market will flourish again.

I'm not sure, I assumed it was:

Team 1: Stig
Team 2: Papy
Team 3: Barlog - this would be a pre-production team at the moment and building up to a full team.

Though Since Papy has left, Barlog may have taken over Team 2, or they may have hired/promoted someone, But I think it's safe to say there are at least 2 teams at SSM and 1 of them has been working on something since GoW3 shipped in March 2010, they would have had some people working on DLC, and some helping with ascension but some will have moved onto their next project so they have a game that has been in development since March 2010, so they've been working on it for at least 3 and a half years, which means they're probably ready to announce something very soon, either 14th or VGA's.

Infamous Second Son Release Date
The Order Gameplay Reveal
Uncharted 4 Teaser
Epic Games new game
Mad Max

After that I dunno. There'll be stuff I couldnt see coming, I am sure.

Sounds about right, they will flesh it out with unfinished swan and journey PS4 announcements, possibly surprise launch titles?

If the rumor of Mad Max April 2014 is true, this could be as a good a place as any for a gameplay reveal.

Hadn't heard that one! Cool! Source? Is this recent or just speculation from the original reveals?

Also, it's been amazing to see how little Sony-related info has leaked this year (amidst copious MS leaks) and I've definitely appreciated being surprised (8GB GDDR5 blew my mind) but I feel like we've definitely been getting more and more recently. It has destroyed my patience, hahaha.

And Gopher's poems do nothing to alleviate it. Hahaha

Mad Max gameplay was leaked yesterday. The fact they have a demo build signifies it will be shown publicly soon.

I am hoping to see a new power for Second Son OR a Multiplayer component. Maybe a coop mode where you and your friends can roam the city...would be sick!

I would be surprised if Barlog returning and Papy leaving was purely coincidence. I'm just going to assume that God of War PS4 is the second project.

Yea, I'm guessing we have incoming New Space IP from stig and PS4 GoW from Barlog, but GoW is a long way away, it kind of looks like shadow of the beast might be aimed to fill that itch from the Pre-rendered trailer they showed. until GoW is ready.

I forget, was there ever a description about Stig's project. Something about vehicles and destructibility, right?

This is pretty much bang on, add new Drive Club and Deep Down Trailer in their too, as well as replacing Uncharted 4 with new IP by Santa Monica. I don't think Sony will show 3 TPS games together. Uncharted 4 will be saved for VGAs.

I'm not sure, there is the Teaser in Ascension about the earth stopping and the journey beginning as well as them having a Battlestar Galactica writer who has been working on a project for about 3 years now:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-07-19-battlestar-galactica-writer-working-on-secret-sony-santa-monica-game

Leads me to think it could be a sci-fi/space game

I think it's like this:
Team 1:Stig's team for the new IP which includes most of SSM's internal devs
Team 2:Barlog's team for the next God of War which has some people from God of War 3 and are hiring more.

It's probably because ElTorro is German (I think :P).

DD.MM.YYYY is the only logical order for dates: from small to big. What were you Americans thinking with your whacky units of measurement. ;-P

Is there a more fleshed out 2014 release calender yet? I have heard that term Early 2014 / Spring 2014 / Launch Window for a ton of titles now.

I think so far it is Infamous, Mad Max ( rumor ), DriveClub, The Witness, Planetside 2, Transistors ( ? ), Galak-Z ( ? ), MLB The Show, etc.

I want to see a fully fleshed out release calender soon. Seems odd we are in November and do not know exactly what is hitting in February, for example.

I'm from Austria and agree with this statement. Although a few days ago an American told me about the positives of the Imperial system for things like construction and my mind was kinda blown. Did not know that. But for dates, there's no way around it, it's the only thing that actually makes sense. Either that or maybe going from big to small, so YYYY.MM.DD.

Haha, I'm not defending it but I think it's because that's how we say dates so that's why it's ordered like that. "When's your birthday?" "November 15th! :D"

In Europe, if asked that question, would one say "15 November" or "15th of November"? That's a 100% genuine question. I'm wondering if the way the numbers are typically listed informs the way people say it in different cultures or if Europe's is just more size-based (smallest-to-largest like you said) while America's is speech-based (the layout reflecting the typical spoken order).

I love examining the differences between cultures like this, I'm totally fascinated by it, so forgive me for going wildly off-topic here. Hahahaha.

EDIT (Still off-topic):
Although a few days ago an American told me about the positives of the Imperial system for things like construction and my mind was kinda blown. Did not know that.

The Imperial System is a mess no doubt about it (wasn't it made by merchants/aristocrats to scam peasants?) but the one thing I like about it in regards to Metric is that there's something in between meters and centimeters. Feet are a really convenient measurement tool for a human's size relative to our environment.
(Off-topic again)

EDIT 2 (so off-topic it's on-topic??):

1-12/1-31/1-2013, Smallest number to largest. :P

This also makes sense reasoning-wise.
