Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 3: Ridley's Believe It or Not!

I came to this thread for answers, and all I got was a bevy of Mr. Mime mentions. We all know there is only one psychic Pokemon who deserves to be in Smash.

Not to be that guy but Knuckles would be a really interesting character in Smash. Maybe similar to DK.

I always liked Knuckles more than Sonic. I'd imagine him controlling like a slightly heavier/slower Metaknight with a largely punching-based moveset. I don't think it's totally outside the realm of possibility for a second Sonic character to make it in. Assuming SSB4 has a total of five 3rd party characters (I'm being optimistic) I would hope they're as follows:

Sonic
Knuckles
Mega man
Pac-Man
Banjo-Kazooie

Honorable mention: Ryu (Street Fighter) and Dig-Dug

and yet i play with pichu fine

Doesn't mean he is a good character. Tier lists don't measure how good someone is with a character but instead how good that character is. Some characters are better than others and perfect balance is a pipe dream for ANY fighter.

You are not Cyclops.

Sure if its like zelda where if you aren't exactly top tourney players you can still be viable because they got "cheap shit" ( things like IKE that are viable and mid and low teir play because players may not be skilled to operate around it). Melee mewtwo just kind of sucks on all levels of play.

I also want to point out that characters like Ike are still actually very good in the right hands but not quite tourney viable. Ike has his Jab canceling for close range and is a beastly spacer with his Fair and Nair. he can also ledge hog really well with his lingering smashes and tilts. The thing is though he is still not that good of a character especially with that recovery

you guys are telling me this as if i'm actually a competitive player

lol

mewtwo >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> lucario

lucario isnt even original lol but ill give him that he isnt a blantant boring clone of fox like wolf

guys I just had an epiphany.

What if smash isn't in development at all, and Sakurai is just playing an april fools joke on us. Come April First, he'll be like "LOL YOU GOT JOKED! THATS EGGMANS JOKES FOR YOU! ENJOY YOUR WII U PARTY 2: FEATURING NINTENDO CHARACTERS"

I dont think people in japan celebrate april fools

Wolf is not a....wolf is not....screw it.

Good recovery will jump you some teirs in brawl.

I agree (probably none of us play on a high enough level to make them valid), but calling Lucario floatier than the one Smash character who actually floats through the air bears a gigantic irony :P
You don't have to be a top level competitor for the general tier trend to be evident. It only takes a little bit of aptitude to notice a difference between Melee Jigglypuff and Melee Kirby.

japan copies everyone else's language and they will copy our holidays too.

They don't copy it. They abuse it.

The entire text of the female singer is German. I am a native German speaker. I didn't understand a SINGLE word without the subtitles >.<

What? You clearly don't have that one friend who rips everyone apart with a "bad" character. Below competitive the most important factor is how comfortable you are with a character, TIERS DON'T MATTER

And if you still can't see we could say Metaknight and Ganondorf

Obviously Lucario is more viable for competitive play, but the point most are making is that they don't care about Lucario in Smash or otherwise, at least compared to their interest in Mewtwo. It's not about good movesets, it's about liking the character. Just like how people play as Link simply because he's Link. I think the solution for most is obviously to retool Mewtwo's moveset to make him more competitive, not just throw him back in with no alterations to his Melee incarnation.

Personally, I love clones! Opportunity for developers to take different approaches with the same general moveset framework. I'd say that Melee Fox and Falco play more differently from each other than say Game and Watch and Ness.: )

I think we all understand this. Sometimes it's just fun to talk a little more in-depth though.

I see someone has never played 3rd strike or Marvel 2.

This is jsut more in depth talk anyway.

Imagine in a near future suddenly seeing Ridley on the Pic of the Day, looking badass and majestic and all. The reaction would be glorious.

Just going to leave my input here...

But both of the Pokemon introduced in Melee were complete shit.

Pichu intentionally sucking speaks for itself. Mewtwo on the otherhand, was an unfortunate case of having both his moveset and floaty nature being horrible.

Thankfully, Brawl remedied this by adding two great reps in Lucario and Red (Squirtle/Charizard anyway).

I dunno about all of that , Tekken besides 6, ussally has pretty viable casts. IIRC i can say the same about DOA. And Marvel 3 despite their being character clearly better than other characters at things, most of them have uses and can be used to pull of a win. You aren't going to pick Chun over wolverine, but she has her uses. And for the most part this rings true in smash , but their are exceptions like brawl link or Melee Mewtwo, where for those characters to become good you have to be pretty decent at them, you have to have put some real time in. Where as olimar just has to be olimar.

What exactly does one mean when they say "fuck tiers". Are you trying to assert that all characters are equal? Are you really trying to tell me Bowser in Melee is just as good as Fox?

Cuz you're pretty much lying to yourself if you believe that.

That being said, Melee has a pretty decent number of actually viable characters, and they're pretty different from each other. Definitely my favorite fighting game.

Yeah totally. The worst part of Brawl for me isn't the loss of depth but that so many characters are not viable. The higher tiers are just so far above the rest it isn't funny. It really hurts a game like Smash even at a casual level if your beloved Nintendo character is terrible.

But seriously, no one that says "fuck tiers" means that every character is equal. The idea of tiers in a fun game like Smash (where casuals and hardcore gamers can enjoy the game alike) just make it seem like the "fun" factor is null.

I'm not saying that playing competitively can't be fun.

Alright, time to come clean since the whole tier thing is getting a bit out of hand now.

I was a little surprised people took me more serious than I've expected it to (I did not honestly expected the responses I got for saying "fuck tiers" LOL). I was purposely writing worse and worse grammar-wise to show a hint that I wasn't being very serious at all (well, except the fact I find pichu fun) lol

I actually like Lucario and Wolf. Wolf is actually one of my frequently used characters in Brawl. I just wanted to poke fun at certain people and it worked better than I expected haha

just for proof's sake here's my stance on lucario and wolf in the past:

And there was that one time I've requested Wolf to be my avatar from Neorice's sprites if he gets into the game.
