I came to this thread for answers, and all I got was a bevy of Mr. Mime mentions. We all know there is only one psychic Pokemon who deserves to be in Smash.
Hypno
Not only was lucario actually playable, dude was pretty good.
Also he had a metsu hadoken.
Mewtwo was bleh.
Not to be that guy but Knuckles would be a really interesting character in Smash. Maybe similar to DK.
Lucario was slow and floaty. Mewtwo was faster, fluid and playable.
Lucario was slow and floaty. Mewtwo was faster (not significantly), fluid and playable.
Mewtwo shits all over Lucario
Lucario is just a stupid Mewtwo wannabe
In Smash, god no.
Espically on teir lists.

Tier list says otherwise.Mewtwo shits all over Lucario
Lucario is just a stupid Mewtwo wannabe
What the hell is this foolishness.
To each their own I guess.
and yet i play with pichu fine
You know I'm right.
fuck tiers
fuck tiers
You are not Cyclops.
Sure if its like zelda where if you aren't exactly top tourney players you can still be viable because they got "cheap shit" ( things like IKE that are viable and mid and low teir play because players may not be skilled to operate around it). Melee mewtwo just kind of sucks on all levels of play.
guys I just had an epiphany.
What if smash isn't in development at all, and Sakurai is just playing an april fools joke on us. Come April First, he'll be like "LOL YOU GOT JOKED! THATS EGGMANS JOKES FOR YOU! ENJOY YOUR WII U PARTY 2: FEATURING NINTENDO CHARACTERS"
I also want to point out that characters like Ike are still actually very good in the right hands but not quite tourney viable. Ike has his Jab canceling for close range and is a beastly spacer with his Fair and Nair. he can also ledge hog really well with his lingering smashes and tilts. The thing is though he is still not that good of a character especially with that recovery
Yeah sadly, I know...Good recovery will jump you some teirs in brawl.
You don't have to be a top level competitor for the general tier trend to be evident. It only takes a little bit of aptitude to notice a difference between Melee Jigglypuff and Melee Kirby.I agree (probably none of us play on a high enough level to make them valid), but calling Lucario floatier than the one Smash character who actually floats through the air bears a gigantic irony![]()
japan copies everyone else's language and they will copy our holidays too.

What? You clearly don't have that one friend who rips everyone apart with a "bad" character. Below competitive the most important factor is how comfortable you are with a character, TIERS DON'T MATTERYou don't have to be a top level competitor for the general tier trend to be evident. And if you still can't see we could say Metaknight and GanondorfYou don't have to be a top level competitor for the general tier trend to be evident. It only takes a little bit of aptitude to notice a difference between Melee Jigglypuff and Melee Kirby.
Mewtwo or Ridley?
Your life depends on it.
I'll add you :3
Words of warning though: I may or may not draw bad qq moe fan art.
I think we all understand this. Sometimes it's just fun to talk a little more in-depth though.Obviously Lucario is more viable for competitive play, but the point most are making is that they don't care about Lucario in Smash or otherwise, at least compared to their interest in Mewtwo. It's not about good movesets, it's about liking the character. Just like how people play as Link simply because he's Link. I think the solution for most is obviously to retool Mewtwo's moveset to make him more competitive, not just throw him back in with no alterations to his Melee incarnation.

I see someone has never played 3rd strike.
This is jsut more in depth talk anyway.
Trick question, you choose neither.
Wrong.

Correct answer was both.
Imagine in a near future suddenly seeing Ridley on the Pic of the Day, looking badass and majestic and all. The reaction would be glorious.

What exactly does one mean when they say "fuck tiers". Are you trying to assert that all characters are equal? Are you really trying to tell me Bowser in Melee is just as good as Fox?
Cuz you're pretty much lying to yourself if you believe that.
That being said, Melee has a pretty decent number of actually viable characters, and they're pretty different from each other. Definitely my favorite fighting game.

Tiers gave me cancer guys, ban competitive smash.

'Majestic,' implying he won't have the Other M design.
But seriously if he does he better have an alt.
Being hopeful about Ridley is not allowed in this thread.
