Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | November 2013 | Tearaway into a new world

I don't want a classy Kanji. I want an aggro dude who wears his jacket on his shoulders! Eff off Atlus.

Still really excited to play P4G

I just bought a Vita a few days ago and today is the first day I paid attention to Teraway. I'm actually pretty excited about it. It looks amazing!

I wonder if it's even worth it for Atlus to do at this point. I mean they have the P3 movie coming out so maybe they could get some more sales releasing a new version. But they've done three already.
Atlus keeps doing stuff like porting DS games to the 3DS, so I doubt they'd have any second thoughts making another version of P3.

Yeah, P3FES >>>>>>>>>>> P3P, in my honest opinion. The latter has better gameplay refinement, true... but in everything else P3FES is just superior overall.

Oh, and it seems I missed your birthday! Happy birthday, O the toppler of corrosivefrost from being the top poster of VitaGAF, hahaha.

It would have been better too if they include cut scenes of the FeMC and other neat stuff. I really like exploring with a body and not just a dot. It was what put me of P3P. I mean I know it makes exploration on the towns and building up social links much faster but I want to FEEL like I'm in the town. I want those awesome coincidental meetings and bike bumpings.

Thanks!
It seems corrosive was the top poster until august at least. This thread needs change. Change is good. I am that change! Vote me!

fine, no more purse owner bickering.

what are yall playing tonight? I'm doing another run through of type-0

Thinking of attempting to do the 2nd Guacamelee DLC, if someone will tell me where I access it. ;)

Otherwise, I don't know... I still want to try playing something on PS3 with my shiny new DS4.

Maybe corrosivefrost is like the Old Sensei or Guru in mangas/animes/movies, relenting his position honorably to the eager student of his.

Most probably playing Dragon's Dogma or Shadow of the Colossus or Persona 3 FES in my PS3.

Honestly, I've been kind of abandoning my Vita lately... I feel kind of bad about it... but then I remember EDF and Growlanser and I get mad again.

Oh you have Dragon's Dogma too? Let's play online together one of these days (can you even do that?)

Yeah sadly my Vita is gonna be neglected too soon with the release of Senran 3DS and Lightning Returns this month.

I need to find a way to squeeze in tearaway into that fray.

Nah, you can't play coop in Dragon's Dogma. Just exchanging Pawns and gifting and stuff like this. What's your pawn name? I'll make sure to try him/her out.

Me too... Then I remember I own Hatsune Miku on the Vita and have yet to complete Dragon's Crown.

Hmmmm. I have a buttload of games I haven't finished in Vita... Rayman Origins, Soul Sacrifice, Malicious Rebirth, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed Liberation, Dragon's Crown (well, I have seen the credits but I haven't done any post-game activities yet....)... I still have so many unplayed PSN games too like Guacamelee, Machinarium, stuff like that.

The last time I invested a pretty good time in Vita is for Dragon's Crown.

Same, but I've been trying to hold off on buying new Vita games until I beat my older ones. It's been working out fairly well so far.

Advice Vita-GAF. I have Ys Silver Edition preordered but doesn't have release date delivery and even with prime 2day shipping says delivery the following week. This will be my first Ys game and this year I have a very long Thanksgiving weekend due to work giving us the day after Thanksgiving off as a holiday and me taking the following monday off due to my birthday so I really want something new to play and sink my teeth into.

Should I just take that weekend and play some of my backlog stuff like Persona 2 and P3P or should I cancel the Ys collectors preorder and just get it digitally and enjoy it over Tday weekend. I have to add that the extra stuff in the collectors edition really doesn't do it for me to begin with.

If the add-ons aren't interesting to you then yeah, I advise you to just get the digital version.

Breakquest gives you only 33 balls to beat the entire game with (apart from crafted balls that are ungodly rare)
and the ball gets stuck under the paddle twice in one level. To say nothing of the hilarious number of nose-dives whenever my paddle isn't directly under it if the ball hits -anything- (in one case, the top of an object!)

Should have known before I downloaded a F2P but this is exceptionally trashy. $7 for infinite balls..does the Near glitch still work?

Sly? I haven't played either but I pick Sly.

I have Sonic on PC and played Sly almost all on vita. I like Sly more, but that's because I prefer platformers over racing games but Sonic is a very good game. Can be tough on the higher difficulties so if you want all the unlockables hold on to your butt. The game is less item dependent so it's all about skill in the end.

Sly is probably the best of the Sly games. Strikes a much better balance of missions and minigames than any of the previous games, and the hub worlds are designed well enough that even playing as Sly's friends it's not cumbersome to get to each mission. Game is 30fps compared to Ps3's 60 but it's also much more stable. Getting the plat is real annoying though. Look up a guide first so you don't have to do some annoying backtracking if that's your thing.

Omega, ignore the Sly recommendations. You won't handle the FUCKING load times. The game is great fun, when you get there. But it's not worth it after a few plays. It's too much imo unless you really love platforming :) Which is the only way possible it slipped Edgeward's mind to mention it :P
I did enjoy the game and it is crossbuy (on the ps3 version anyway, last I checked it wasn't on vita for the uk store. £20 for either :/)

Sonic is lots of fun. Great port of the console version. Not quite as lovely as the PC version (60fps, no lagging in water). Has other dips but mostly inconsequential. Lots of challenge which I know you'll like and loads of content. Great game.

Great responses guys, thanks. From what I can gather, both are great ports with a solid framerate but Sonic is more difficult (in a skill-based way). Based on the above I have a few more questions:
-How do Sly's loading times compare to WipEout?
-Does Sonic have any multiplayer related trophies?
-Aside from trophy hunting, what incentives are there to replay Sly?
-How difficult is Spy in comparison to, say, Sly 3?

Tbh, I've been eyeing Sonic since I plat'd WipEout, but Sly 4 sounds tempting. Depending on what answers I get, I might just get Sonic and wait for Tearaway to scratch my platforming itch (then get Sly for Christmas).

If you have played Wipeout in the last year or so then it would have been patched, multiple times. For me, the difference is pretty huge, like almost double, maybe not quite double but almost!

There's only one only trophy in Sonic - win a matchmaking game. But ... the game is brutal on expert (like you'll need a lot of practice).

I haven't completed Sly so I'll leave that to others. I will say I liked how sly moved, lots of different moves to get around the levels. I liked the enemy humour too. I didn't play Sly 3.

I'm going to time wipeout loading times now, because these accusations are getting ridiculous.
I see the problem - I play mostly speed laps - they load in 15 seconds. The first match loaded in 40 seconds.

Sly Cooper is like a minute from what I remember...and it's not that rare, will time it later...don't put me through it and the menus.

1) Sly has long loading times when going into the hub worlds, 20-30 if I have to guess (can't test since I deleted it to free up some space).

2) there are 3 mp online trophies

3) Nope.

4) Sly 3 was pretty easy, mostly because of minigames. Sly 4 is stealth lite, with none of the real annoying enemies like in 2 so it's on the easy side. Plus, you gain access to smoke bombs real early on if you collect enough coins which negates the alert phases as Sly. Although that won't happen that many times since enemy patrols are pretty rudimentary. The boss battles, especially the 1st one, can be fairly challenging.

...

1) no way ... let me check *grumble* - okay, 25 seconds to load my save file to get to hub world, selected sly 40 seconds. Okay I guess about the same as Wipeout events then. :P Not too bad...might replay this afterall - maybe the loading screen doesn't help, I'll remember to look away.

2) my bad, I missed "select a random character for matchmaking" & ... oh the last one I don't have: race in online or adhoc with Sonic + Tails + Amy + Shadow + Knuckles in the same race. Bit of a hassle, but not quite as bad as those wipeout mp trophies, no :P

I'm a FemC fan, but I also think P4's cast was better in almost every aspect. Then again I also like Fuuka's English VA (acquired taste).

You're my new friend. Except that last part. But I can forgive that about you. Do you like Laura Baily?

Tbh I am tired of her from overexposure, but she is magnificent as Kaine, Lucina, and Helena. Don't like her Rise voice because that's the one that she uses the most.

I figured that last part would put me on a lot of people's shit lists lol. She's Lulu's VA from FFX so it eventually grew on me.

I definitely liked her voice as Kaine. The game had more outstanding VAs too.

I'm hoping one of these days Stardust Delta goes on sale. Been hankering for some arcade action and the psp version ain't cutting it.

Vita version is fantastic, it was on sale here in the EU recently... I picked it up as one of the first titles with my Vita and I still come back to it so I wouldn't say you do poorly to buy it full price anyway, but you never know. Not sure why it was on sale let me check. Ah it was a "Sci-fi" sale...maybe it will come to US but probably not. Seems like a desperation thing from EU after all the accusations of shitty sales in comparison to US. Maybe though :)

Shit, novocaine took my endless score. On it. Congrats yada yada :P

I will not let myself get into a LB situation. I waited this long, I can wait some more. Especially with PS4 on the way this week. Can't even remember if the ps3 version ever went on sale, they guard that like it was a Mario game here.

Until then, I'll just play some Riviera and play some more Terminator 2 pinball. Those Zen pinball Star Wars tables wishes it was as good as this table. Not even close. Only wish the UI and front end stuff was handled better like on the Zen games, way slicker interface.

Wait wait wait, you name a situation after me?

Hahaha... haha....... hah.... haa.... ;___;

^ yeah lol I'm guessing he means LBP? Did that come on sale recently in the US?

I read too many posts about why Pinball Arcade was better than Zen Pinball but I just can't help enjoy ZP more - then again I never really used to play the machines or anything so the extra dedication to realism might be lost on me.

PvZ is fun on ZP for sure :) Weird thing with that table, when I look on the store, I don't have it available, it's on my download list though.

I'm already 2 million behind my last top score novocaine, no time at all, you better keep playing :P Zeeroid has quite a few pretty great scores too, also Jinfash.

UGH.

Guacamelee second DLC requires you to have the flying power for chicken form as far as I can figure. This is going to be a hassle. :(

I like the PvZ table too. Maybe I should reinstall Zen Pinball again.
And you think PvZ table missing is bad? I had to search my DL list to find my copy of Lumines, because the store claims I didn't buy it for $36 way back when. >_<

Still need to play through the guacamelee dlc stuff, got too distracted chasing the chickens in the town with the chicken outfit on, awesome that you can float around with that.

Hah yeah PvZ was cheap and I was still thinking that I had gone crazy.

Thankfully they send out an email for every purchase so it's easier than looking through the download list to confirm!
Lumines is still okay for me here in EU. Sucks when that happens though, brain was melting while trying to figure out why I thought I had bought PvZ hah.
