This is exactly what I'm hoping for.

I'm determined to go digital only but just know we're going to get absolutely shafted on prices unless GMG, Amazon, Gamersgate etc. are allowed to step-in and start selling PSN games like they do Steam games.

Please happen. Please.

I'm assuming this is just selling download codes to be redeemed on the actual hardware. I would imagine you would need a US PSN account though (which is easy enough to make).

But I could be wrong.

Because Sony is in control of Sony games, who are murdering it price wise on their own store when it comes to retail games.

It's the 3rd party who need to reign in the prices which like retail they're in control of their own prices, which are shit for the most part.
 
perfect time to have something like this ready for christmas, given the amount of people who like to give out a voucher instead of an item these days.

Yeah, i'm waiting to see if they end up having SEN integration. Would be icing on the cake at that point, really.

That is a nice treat to people who moved to a different country and cannot input their new credit card details on the PSN because of countries mismatch.

I have been waiting for this for 5 years, at last no more need to go through PSN cards!

They also do this for the US-psncards, i can't buy them with my Swedish visa because billing address isn't in the US. However, what I can do is buy a giftcard for the same amount of cash and mail that to myself. With the gift-card I have no problem buying US psn-cards or other digital products, the only thing is that I changed my address to a hotel somewhere when i use the giftcard. But it works just fine, been doing it since the US-psn stopped accepting my Visa and i refuse to pay 55 USD or more for a 50 dollar PSNcard.
 
This is incredible but I think I will still stick to discs. Though Amazon's involvement can only help the situation.

Great. Is this how you did it?

1. Buy using a random US address (Alaska Airport is a good one)
2. Redeem using a secondary US PSN account on your playstation
3. login to your normal (EU) account on PSN and play the game?
 
Um, not sure of the significance here. So network cards are going the way of the dodo and all games have redeemable codes?

Sadly even Amazon run out of keys here and there, especially on a crazy digital sale. They try to get more fast though. One of the common key burners was $2 Just cause, and $7 Square Enix game pack (Tomb Raider underworld, Tomb Raider GOTL, Kane and Lynch 2, Just Cause 2, some strategy game, etc.).
 
Didn't Amazon use to sell XBL game content years ago? Then randomly stop some time afterwards..

Hopefully this last longer than that (which it looks like it will, since this looks way better thought out)

The Kotaku Introduces part of the title is bizarre. It's not exactly breaking news, this has been live on Amazon since at least last night.

Im pretty sure its both. Of course a PSN store is gonna sale whats on PSN. Amazon is gonna compete with he official sony store on price if its anything like the version PC.
 
Pls extend the black friday game deals this year for the digital versions as well..no worry about stock at all that way!
 
Holy crap. They listened to us again. Potential game changer right here. NOW they can start moving towards a more successful Steam like digital model. The more digital content stores and providers to compete, the better.

I think it remains to be seen. On PC it obviously doesn't matter to Valve who sells Steam codes because they take no cut off of Steamworks, and generally just want people to use their service and get into that ecosystem.

For everyone who isn't in the US you can make a fake account with fake address. As long as you have a valid credit card you are find.

Uh, sure Valve cares. They get a cut out of every sale from their own store, Amazon profits off of sales on Amazon.com. Publishers are the ones giving Amazon Steam DL codes anyway.
