Kotaku introduces the Amazon Playstation Network Store

Hopefully amazon is able to set their own sale prices and won't have to have approval from Sony.

Amazon has had some great sales on pc digital games. Sales that rival the steam sales

Gofreak's been doing some poking around and found some prices lower than Sony's own store, so at the moment it doesn't look like Sony has any direct influence over Amazon's prices.

rental service at best? Maybe rental service at worst if one is inclined to present it negatively. If you are invested in the ecosystem its a free game or 3 a month and usually still worth having. Imo of course

That's your opinion, but my answer was more focused of the previous posters admittance of cheap games using PS+ while failing to mention the overhead price cost of monthly PS+ subscription costs in the overall picture.

Jesus. Sony is just savaging jugulars at this point. They have a serious fucking thirst, and we all seem to be the benefactors. PS3 gen made them mad, now they get even.

Plz come to UK.

I give a big ol' 2 thumbs up to Sony on this.

I wonder if they have been talking with Valve too?

But yeah, getting badass Amazon sales on PS3/4/Vita software is going to be awesome. You'll be able to get specials via PSN + Amazon now? Count me in.

Sony, you did it again. Well done. This is going to be a very fun generation.

Please someone add in the OP the link to the guide for using amazon US for digital downloads outside the US. It's getting repetitive....

Are there sharing limitations with digital games on PS4?

(UK here)

Buy from Amazon.com (US)
Download through US PSN ID on PS4
Play on UK PSN ID

That worked on PS3 fine, but just wondering if they are allowing multiple users now. Can't remember the changes they made.

If this isn't an issue, it doesn't really matter if they start this in the UK or not.

Game codes are. You'll need an account of the right region to redeem them. Luckily that is quickly and easily done.
A UK code works in Germany when it comes to game codes. You need to be in the right region, but not in the right country unlike the money codes that are country-specific.

Fantastic news. Now bring this to the UK. I always buy hard copes but if this is what I think it may be then I will consider going all digital.

Just use your foreign credit card but enter a US billing address.

the question is, will the download code work with german/austrian PSN?

hmm.. but as i wrote this i remembered that i can create an us account on my ps3/4 to redeem codes and play with my DE account.

still for my PSVita the Question remains, since i can't switch accounts on it

You can create a US PSN account to enter the code. Once you enter the code and start the download, just switch back to your Aus/German PSN account. The game will be playable from any of your consoles accounts.

Hopefully it works the exact same way on the PS4.

Sucks for Vita games though as this cannot be done.

consoles, yes, i use that, so my sister can play my ps+ games on her console, but the psvita... anyway, ps 3 and 4 deals, sounds good enough, especially since the costs are cheaper then here in EU from the start, and since nothing has to be shipped that's -12€ shipping and no import taxes ~

Sounds great, would be really big if it´s leads to Steam Like prices. Give me gmg or humbledundle ps4 edition.

I think this is the best way to fight against used copies sales.

I'm sure Sony will figure a way out to stop that from happening. I doubt they will just sit back and watch europeans cheat them from 15 euros every game. Would be great though, because 45 euros is closer to what games should cost in my opinion.

Are you new to PSN or something? I live in Australia but at least 80% of my digital game purchase comes from the US mostly because I couldn't be arsed to wait for Australia store to update their content and sometimes it's cheaper to buy from US even after the currency change. Also, my PS+ is US-based, ditto with my main account.

I do buy boxed game locally though so I have to buy DLC for them from Australian account. The only exception for this is when I bought the disc from US as well like The Last of Us. Then I just buy the DLC from US store.

Anyway, for those of you who are new to PSN:

1. Yes, you can buy from different nationality shop. You just need to buy a relevant PSN card from some shop and apply the code to the shop. Although IIRC, US PSN now accepts Paypal so I think you can use that too now.
2. If you buy a main game from US store, then you need to buy DLC from US store. If you buy a main game from EU/AUS store, then you need to buy the DLC from EU/AUS store. Same with Japan. If I were you, I'd make at least 3 PSN accounts: US, EU/AUS, and JPN/Asia
3. In my experience, EU codes usually are interchangeable with AUS codes. I've had occasions where I bought the boxed game from UK (because they have Steelbook, etc) but I ended up buying the DLC from AUS store.'
4. Once you downloaded a game from whatever country account, you can actually play the game on your other accounts within the same machine. Except for Vita, because you need to have multiple cards to have multiple accounts.

Dis gon' be good. PSN already offers great deals for Plus members, so it's going to be interesting to see what Amazon can offer.

I think for PSvita you have to have a second memory card for the foreign PSN account

I have a question for USAGAF.

How does Tax work?

I understand that different states have different Tax rates, so would going for a cheaper billing address region be better? Or, on Amazon US does it not work like that?

Currently $60 is £37 which is a great difference from the incoming £49 games.. But I don't know how much the tax would be and where it's charged. At checkout?

Lots of questions,

Thanks

Going to be interesting to see how the prices for the PSN content/games sold on Amazon will compare to the box versions of the game Amazon will also be selling.

This move by Sony/PS could be a way of encouraging people to move into digital, not wanting to go off topic but this will reflected on the HDD space on the PS4 that games need to install.

As i said, im never going to pay more than £20 (and honestly closer to £15) for a digital game. If this allows me to take advantage of digital, im all for it. I am happy with the digital titles i do have on my systems and have no problem buying more despite not seeing them as games I actually "own".

This is mostly good news for indies though in my view. Humble bundles with PSN codes would make me a very happy man.

So will this in turn drive cheaper prices on PS Store?

Don't think so. It will be just like Steam. They don't care where you get your game from as long as you activate your game on their platform then it's all good.

How is PS plus compared to Club Nintendo? when it comes to deals?

I know only that Plus is insane. What are Club Nintendo deals? Can you give examples of the best ones?

So does this mean better prices/sales than you'd normally see? I'm not expecting Steam like discounts, but still good stuff.

Yes. Eg, if you're a UK citizen, just use your UK credit card, but enter a US shipping address.

Sorry for the confusion, but is that Shipping AND Billing address? That error screen above mentioned US Billing address, which is where the issue might come from (as the credit card check might fail).

But what about those steel cases and collectors edition games?

Retailers am cry.

I'm still buying them by bucketful. I don't find digital games to be that interesting, I'm afraid. :P And I LOVE Steelbooks.

But having this option is good for people who want to buy the games digitally.

Yep, this will work as long as you don't need to get a new PS4 for some reason.

It's the same model as the Xbox 360 now, the console where you first download the game will be the main console and you can play that game in whatever account you desire. If you want to play that game in another console for some reason (PS4 broke for example) you'll have to be logged in the account you bought the game.

If they keep the thing where you can disable consoles through the website this shouldn't be an issue, but if you lose your PS4 for some reason (stole, broke, whatever) and can't do that it would be kinda shitty. Not a deal breaker, but I wish it used the same model as the PS3.

Maybe just me, but a £12 saving really doesn't justify this. £20 or more and I would be interested though.

That is the point. Amazon and publishers can have their own sales regardless of what Sony/Plus is doing.
What I mean is I hope they have sales on par with PS+ on a weekly basis and not just every few months.

I don't expect Amazon to have the same volume of game discounts as PS+ but I hope they at least have one or two good discounts per week.

Not entirely sure. Refer to this user here. Maybe drop them or the others who have tried it a PM. I haven't decided on a game to try it with yet lol.

i live in asia.

i have a local asian credit card.

i have a US PSN ID that i use to buy stuff from the PSN store on my PS3.

i tried buying the BF4 premium pass off the amazon store using my local credit card with a US shipping address.

i was able to receive the code.

TL;DR, it works for international users if you put in a US shipping address. just make sure you use the codes you get on your US PSN ID.

Create a US shipping address, done.

tried to buy puppeteer, it directly ask for my credit card informations and no billing address or something else, after that the checkout screen appeared, no billing address field or anything, just this message
